Same problem here which started on iOS 9 and we're not sharing iCloud accounts on the devices.

Its very irritating, my wife and I both have iPhones, we are both on the same apple ID. When she gets a call my phone doesn't ring but when she misses that call my phone shows a missed call icon on the phone app and when I go to the phone app its pretty clearly someone who wasn't calling my phone. Any way to fix this so it stops?

Hi, I've had the same problem and managed to sort it out WITHOUT having to have another Apple ID account.

Here's the solution using ios9:
Go to settings -> phone -> click on "calls on other devices", ensure that is toggled off and no more call history sharing.

Hope this is useful.

Nuruz.

We have had the same issue. And the reason my wife and I share Apple IDs is simply because we "had" to do that before family sharing in order to not pay twice for apps. Now she would need to set up a phone as new as she can no longer use her backup (as it will be on my Apple ID).

It's a minor annoyance, which is why we deal with it, however it would be great to have an easily changeable setting. Continuity is not trend in any device since we have no reason for that.

This is, and has always been, off for me. :(

Just have her sign out of iCloud and when it asks to keep or delete the things on the device, select keep. Then have her sign out of the App Store. Create a new iCloud account, and when it asks, merge the data. Then setup family sharing and do a new iCloud backup. Should be separated then.

I started have this same problem when I got the iPhone 6 then 2 weeks later my wife got the 6s. We (our son too) are all on the same iCloud account and have been for years without a problem like this. I tried all the suggestions noted but nothing seems to make this stop. Running iOS 9.1 on both iPhone 6's.

Does anyone have a fix for this (maybe Apple should step up and figure out what the trouble is and fix, after all it is their phone and software causing the issue). The need for all separate iCloud accounts seems ridiculous since this was never a problem in the past.

Uh u just said why... Y'all on the same Apple id

Not true. My wife and I shared apps long before family sharing. And we had separate ids.

Ok. So. How do you do it? It's great you're letting me know you've done it.... But, teach a man to fish? I haven't found a way and this is the first in hearing of it, even in this thread, which is basically dedicated to the topic.

I've done that for years; I'm the only one who actually buys apps but I load them onto my wife's iPhone and my daughter's iPod Touch. It's been a while since I set it up, but I believe you just connect the other person's device to your Mac and tell iTunes to transfer the apps. It'll ask you to verify the Apple ID and password of the purchaser and you're done.

Also, backups are completely independent from Apple IDs. Just restore from the backup and put in the new ID. To keep shared contacts and such she could, without a restore, sign out of your Apple ID and when asked what to do about iCloud-synced contacts, etc. choose to keep them, then sign in under her own ID.

Sorry yup. Basically what the individual said above.

You can just go into that persons App Store on the phone and sign in with your account and download your apps. Since your sharing the same account, sharing a password should be no problem for updates. And just authorize your and your wife's computer for the multiple Apple ids and you'll be able to grab updates and other stuff as well.

This is all moot since there is family sharing now though.

So it can't be done wirelessly? If so, that might be my Hang up. I've not connected a phone to iTunes in something like five years
Lol.

You don't even need to do that. You can just sign out of the App Store on the phone and then sign into the other account. Bam you are good.
This is really annoying though, because now you'll need the password for updates as well.

As annoying as sharing the same account?! Just use the same password then. Bam problem solved.
No, that's even more annoying. Same passworld doesn't solve the password prompt (with just one account, you don't have to enter the password for updates).

Family Sharing is the way to go imho.

Oh course. My post said that method was rendered obsolete by family sharing. But he wanted to know how it was done.

Switching iCloud Drive off on my wife's phone has seemingly remedied the situation.
No erroneous call logs today.

I'll try this too. My husband and I have been using the same Apple ID on our iPhones for years without fuss or problem, until now - and it's been SO FRUSTRATING! I call him and then get a missed call from my number on my own phone! I've checked several times and each of us is using our own separate numbers for facetime. Ugh. Take us back to the days when Apple 'just worked'.

It does just work. I don't believe Apple ever recommended two people using the same ID ever. My wife and I have never shared an Apple ID and it does just work.
