doubt it has anything to do with that. more that the iPhone is critical to his ability to make money, so the purchase is a lot easier to justify. Or he can expense it. or he can get a tax deduction.

Tell us about how your business is so cutting edge that it can only work with the latest iPhone release.

I could easily do everything I do currently on an iPhone 5S or iPhone 5, probably even an iPhone 4S. That does not mean having a faster / larger phone does not make it faster and easier to do said tasks.
Why does anyone need a reason to buy something? If it makes their job that much more enjoyable then so be it, no one needs to justify their decisions to you. I will buy a couple more iphones and throw them in the trash just for you sir.
So basically, because they're tech geeks? To be honest, the only people I know who upgraded their computers often were techies and gamers (and really, the designations often overlap). The rest seem to run their computers to the ground. I have a co-worker who asked me for advice with his Pentium III computer recently.

Go on, what are these business tasks that you're doing faster and easier by upgrading to the latest model each time?
Good thing you're not being unreasonable or presumptive, right?

He doesn't need to. He chose to post and justify it of his own volition.
I'm simply asking him more about it.
What do people do on their iPhone that requires them upgrading to a new phone every year?
I can see the need to upgrade if you play games I guess.

This is quite funny, honestly. I'm not quite sure you understand how technology works. Simply sending an email becomes quicker with faster hardware and more updated software.
I don't need to justify my reasoning to you. On a daily basis, I use BaseCamp, Dropbox, Pages (word processor), FaceBook Pages Manager, Mail, Messages, etc. All of which can be done faster and more efficiently with a bigger screen and faster processor.
Yes, I'm quite aware. That's the reason I don't always install iOS updates on older devices. That said, as long as their existing versions of Safari, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Pandora, Angry Birds, PvZ, etc. continue working, I doubt many people would actually care. Most folks I know just upgrade based on their carrier's 2-year cycle. That or their battery's starting to run down and they're starting to have physical/mechanical issues with their phone.Maybe you didn't notice, but software advances along with hardware. This is especially true in the Apple ecosphere where integration between the two is so tight. So, you want to run the latest software, either for work or for your own purposes? You're going to need to upgrade your hardware every two or three years. Your anecdote about your friend doesn't change that fact, nor does it change the fact that "phone" is practically the LAST thing an iPhone actually is.
Because I'm a tech/gadget/Apple whore.

I know what the word means. Mind, your usage is anecdotal evidence, too.Look up the word "anecdote."
Because Steve Jobs told us we do.
Exactly. Women like shoes... I like tech. I'd buy every damn phone on the market if I could.
Post count. Make the best of it![]()
At least it's not going to hurt as badly as the iPad.And!!! There's a new perk this year! Since i ordered the 6 plus, its gonna hurt even more when I'm laying down using my phone and it falls on my face # lol
