I don't need a new one. I get a new phone about every two years because I want one and can afford it.
I skip the S cycle and upgrade every two years. It costs nothing to do so with the sale of my old phone. You get a new warranty and a new phone for basically nothing.
- Only until the normal models come out again...
I don't even have an iPhone but great idea in making assumptions! The only people who say that are the people who are all jealous and butt hurt they are stuck on a 2 year cycle that sees them stuck upgrading to the rehashed s phones.
I'm on the proper cycle, I.e iPhone 4, 5, 6, etc. None of the tiny spec bump upgrades for me, my upgrades are always the real deal
Why do you care? People can spend their money however they want to.
Because, the state of the world? Unfettered consumerism is nothing to proud of. And spending cash needlessly on depleting lumps of rare earth metals is as stupid as it gets.
These 'upgrade cos I can' guys are no different that the people who spend their time walking around shopping Malls looking for something to buy.
This has nothing to do with wealth. Really wealthy people are often careful with their spending and value money.
What do people do on their iPhone that requires them upgrading to a new phone every year?
I can see the need to upgrade if you play games I guess.

The problem here with these statements is that they paint with a broad brush, and then use that over generalization to pass judgement on those in this thread. Do you know the financial situation of those in this thread? Did you ask?
I won't get into my finances, since they are my own business. But as a tech geek who works in the industry, I do like to keep on top of what my industry produces. But in the end, I upgrade because I can. My finances allow it. But that isn't to say I'm wasteful of the old: I resell, part out for repairs, and when the first two fail, recycle.
I don't appreciate being judged based upon behavior you attribute to me, without knowing me, or how I actually behave.
that response wasn't tacky at all
stay classy
(he must have "new money")
