- Only until the normal models come out again...

No. The S models are always better than the normals. The 5S provided massive performance gains the 5 didn't. The 6 hasn't provided as big as a gain whereas the 6S will destroy the 6. Not just because it is newer.

----------

The only people who say that are the people who are all jealous and butt hurt they are stuck on a 2 year cycle that sees them stuck upgrading to the rehashed s phones.
I'm on the proper cycle, I.e iPhone 4, 5, 6, etc. None of the tiny spec bump upgrades for me, my upgrades are always the real deal
I don't even have an iPhone but great idea in making assumptions!

Why do you care? People can spend their money however they want to.

Because, the state of the world? Unfettered consumerism is nothing to proud of. And spending cash needlessly on depleting lumps of rare earth metals is as stupid as it gets.

These 'upgrade cos I can' guys are no different that the people who spend their time walking around shopping Malls looking for something to buy.

This has nothing to do with wealth. Really wealthy people are often careful with their spending and value money.

And don't forget the subset of people who upgrade at the expense of real life essentials like healthcare, insurance, bills, retirement, etc. I will never understand those who rack up balances on their credit cards just to buy luxury items that they don't really need.

When I worked at a county hospital that was for poor and indigent people, the number of patients that pulled up to the ER in Escalades and talking on late model iPhones were too many to count.

The problem here with these statements is that they paint with a broad brush, and then use that over generalization to pass judgement on those in this thread. Do you know the financial situation of those in this thread? Did you ask?

I won't get into my finances, since they are my own business. But as a tech geek who works in the industry, I do like to keep on top of what my industry produces. But in the end, I upgrade because I can. My finances allow it. But that isn't to say I'm wasteful of the old: I resell, part out for repairs, and when the first two fail, recycle.

I don't appreciate being judged based upon behavior you attribute to me, without knowing me, or how I actually behave.

That's why a differentiation should be made between those who "upgrade because they can" and those who "upgrade because they want to but shouldn't for financial or other reasons".

We're living in the technology golden age, and iPhones are basically tiny computers that fit in your pocket. I upgrade every 2 years because I want them and can afford them!

that response wasn't tacky at all

stay classy

(he must have "new money")

And someone asking why someone else thinks they need a new phone every year wasn't tacky?

He's right- because he has the money and he CAN. A tacky question deserves a tacky answer.
