Why do people rag on the 13"MBP?

If the 13" had the higher-resolution screen I would have kept it. It's the only reason I got the Air.

Same here. When the 2011 MBP 13" was launched, I was credit-card in hand ready to purchase... until I found that they kept the 2006-circa 1200x800 resolution standard (the MBA already had had 1400x900 since 2010).

It was a total deal breaker for me. I could never understand why Apple decided to up the MBA's resolution but not the MBPro's.
