I don't care whether they 'normally' do or not, Apple not publishing specs is SUPER annoying. This thing has been announced and is about to be shipped out to stores and online buyers, so why the heck not quote the RAM? If they're so embarrassed about the specs then do a better job! It's retarded that iFixit and third parties like that have to take these devices to bits just to fine out what the spec is. Utterly bemusing and unprofessional. Only such an arrogant company like Apple could have the gall to take pre orders on a device people know very little about.

Yet you still preordered it..

There are plenty of threads around that discuss why more ram would be beneficial.

There is more to a phone than ram. But if ram is your bottleneck doing certain tasks, all of those other things matter not.

Ofcourse ram has to do it. But it's not the only thing that makes a phone a good phone.

I found this on a GSM Site I hope it is not an error.

http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_6_plus-6665.php

It hasn't been released yet, so there is no evidence to support that their claim is even true.

I hope it does. To deal with all those extra pixels, the user experience is going to be pathetic if the A8 isn't running faster, and if there isn't more memory compared to the 6.

The resolution seems to be the best argument. But people are forgetting Apple puts 1GB RAM in an iPad which is even higher resolution and Apple considers that "Sufficient."

----------

Don't get me wrong, I'd love more RAM. I would be ecstatic if the 6+ has 2GB. I am just skeptical and I think it won't happen. I'd love it to, but I think the likelihood is extremely low considering there is no evidence to support it.

Also, my fiance has an iPhone 5 and I have a Nexus 5. Despite the much higher specs, hers is much more fluid and smooth. Apps are constantly having to reload on mine and Chrome tabs always have to refresh when I open the app after it has been in the background.

Everyone's info appears to be based on this spec list that "leaked" before the keynote - but it has since been proven inaccurate: http://www.cultofmac.com/294449/shatterproof-water-resistant-full-iphone-6-specs/

Because, 3 is bigger than 1. Therefore, the Note 4 is a better phone.

Samsung has the market for those kind of people cornered.

So because my iPhone reloads webpages and apps daily, and has driven me mad for a whole year I'm now "one of those people"? OK, I'll admit it. I crave a working gadget.

Can't be any worse, surely. With 3 gigs there's a strong chance that it will be fine.

Well, I have a Note 3 (with 3GB of RAM) in addition to an iPhone 5s. On the Note, I use a memory manager and am forever closing apps or it starts to get sluggish. So, RAM isn't everything if the OS itself isn't efficient.

It has true multitasking though doesn't it? One would expect to have to close background apps if you had a lot open. So long as the damned browser tabs don't refresh I'd be happy.

They've been working on these phones for a long time and wouldn't release something that wouldn't perform well due to lack of spending a couple more dollars on more RAM. I don't care if it has 2MB of RAM as long as it performs well.

What he said x2

Isn't that a bit of hyperbole? A device not working the way you expect doesn't mean it's not a working gadget. My car still works even if the A/C isn't as cold as I think it should be, for example.

And anyways, what makes you so sure that having 3GB of RAM fixes performance problems?

"True multitasking" is no excuse. The amount of memory in use does not necessarily change much just because more than one app is actively being used.

Seeing as you're justifying potential issues you could face on the Note 4, you should probably go ahead and get it regardless of how much RAM the iPhone 6 has. It doesn't seem like you've ever been happy with the iPhone.

To be clear, I'm not trying to say the Note 4 is a subpar device. But one issue being fixed (tab reloading) may not make up for other issues you could face. No device is perfect. But at the end of the day, all that matters is if it works for you.

Indeed, no device is perfect and I'm extremely wary of jumping from the frying pan into the fire so to speak. I would be extremely peeved if I got the Note 4 and browser tabs reloaded :-/
However, surely this can't be a problem plaguing all mobile devices? I'm not defending the Note 4 as I don't own it, but I am thoroughly irritated with the iPhone tab reloading issue and want my next phone to remove this bain from my life.

I'm not sure if other phones have the issue, but the iPhone probably has it worse than any other smartphone. I really think it can at least be mitigated by software issues, if not entirely fixed. But I understand your pain, and I hope your next phone works the way you want it to.
