My point exactly. :)

Personally, I like mDP. With a single, small cable (not like a Dual-Link DVI) I can connect my computers to a 27" screen and enjoy a huge workspace. It's a far better interface for computer monitors than HDMI, DVI and VGA.

Agreed.

DVI, dead.
VGA, certainly dead.
HDMI, meant to be a TV interface ONLY! It was never intended for computer use but somehow it did.

Far from it, they're still used widely in the computing world and most probably more-so than HDMI.

I didn't mean dead in the sense that nobody uses it  I meant dead given the fact that they use outdated technology. I'm certainly not argueing the fact that businesses don't use it, because that would be stupid

Catch your drift dude. Well that's half the problem with technology and who knows where HDMI will stand in 3-5 years time but thats for another discussion/forum.

As long as we can get an adapter to any other type of connection that we may need, who cares?

It's less wasted space on the side of the macs...

vga/dvi is certainly not dead based on being outdated. Limited budged institutions such as schools (not universities) or just general low cost means to connect where high resolutions are unnecessary will be around for a while. How much do enterprise grade solutions with HDMI or even displayport run these days? Epson's "office" projectors go up to the $2k range and they still only have vga.

Didn't you know? Haters and trolls don't need reason, or logic, or facts. Just raw emotion and baseless opinion.

And they tend to bash on the dumbest things.

Normal person: Well this laptop doesn't have what I need. I'll move on and look at the market since there is 100 others.

Troll: WTF. STUPID LAPTOP DOESNT HAVE (insert ridiculous item here). WOW WHAT FAIL. IM GONNA POST THIS ON EVERY WEBSITE NOW.

With audio?
it wont support audio.

It DOES in fact support audio. As long as you have a 2010 MB/P.
Just hooked mine up a few hours ago to watch Star Trek 09.

"Support uncompressed audio such as LPCM
Support compressed audio such as DTS Digital, Dolby Digital (including DTS-HD and Dolby True HD)"

hell i hope it supports audio.. it isnt here yet. but should work since i got a '10 mbp

read please - we are talking about the MBA with the converter you are referring to.

read- you responded to ramzhh's question about the adapter, the adapter itself supports audio on any mac capable of sending audio through the MDP

ihonda was also talking about a MBP in the original comment about that specific adapter, not Air
you were the only one inferring that ihonda was talking about the air

DVI is not dead lol.

DVI and HDMI has the spec it's just one with Audio support without having multiple Aux cable hanging around.

VGA is not dead either. It's just old and not as great as DVI. You can tell the different if you use VGA switch between DVI the image quality is more clear on DVI.

lets recap and see who started it...

for MBP Air? heh. you sure that is trustworthy? ;)

Definitely trustworthy, bought 2 from them before and they work flawlessly
