Some people seem to forget that the vast majority of purchasers of the new iPhone are perfectly happy with their purchases. Most of them are too busy getting on with their lives to even know that there is an alleged "problem".

I would agree but think the press is getting this more and more into widespread population.

Very true. I'm willing to bet they are jumping on the popularist bandwagon primarily as an aid to their circulation.

The phone has a 100% warranty you have 30 days to get all your money back. It's not like a car that you can't return it's a cellphone. If you have a problem with the hardware and are not willing to put a case on it then you can return it get your money back and move to another brand it's simple.

The real question is why would anyone question this?

When Microsoft called a recall on the Xbox 360's ,i personally had never had an issue with mine, but for those who had the issues and still wanted the product, the recall was beneficial.
Sure you could say they could have taken it back within the 7 days or however long it is depending on where you bought it, and gotten a PS3, but the problem isn't the issue with being merely satisfied with the console (or phone), but it is that you actually like the product but cannot use it for what it is supposed to be used for and how it is supposed to be used.

A phone's primary purpose is to make phone calls. If the iPhone has a widespread enough issue with the signal problems and dropped calls, i fail to see how a recall is a problem, and how a free bumper is the best solution.

Fix the phone and replace for those who have problems with it, some people do not want a case on their phone. Nuff said.

Just ignore the threads. This forum isn't just for praise. People will problems will always be the loudest.

See but the problem is not a problem for everyone. A problem is a gunshot wound, or not getting paid, cancer comes to mind. A 1 cm strip on a phone that can't be touched is nothing. I like knowing that the antennae works and I can adjust to it.

Apple is really hurting their reputation with the hardcore fan base. The people who waiting in line all day for this phone are not going to want to be guinea pigs anymore. The ones who are switching to Apple for their first time will think twice about making another Apple purchase.

Their HARDCORE fan base? They don't care. They could have gotten an empty box with a picture of the phone for all they care. They'll be back again next year, plastic in hand, foaming at the mouth and screaming at the help.

People like my wife, however, may be a different story. And they outnumber the "hardcore fan base" by a huge margin. I guess it all depends on what happens between now and then and I expect other phone manufacturers and cell companies to take full advantage of this blunder. As well they should. That's what capitalism is all about.

So because the problem doesn't effect you users shouldn't post that they have problems?

Sure they should but not every 30 seconds in a new thread people get it they understand the problem stop hitting the horse it's dead. Move on!

Since I own the phone it does effect me but for some reason I can make call use 3G the proximity sensor works fine and I'm happy. And everyone else can either deal with it or return it.

Well everyone else is dealing with it. They are making posts and complaining. Now that may not be how you want them to deal with it they have just as much of a right to post their feelings.

ill admit...im a huge fanboy...thats all i sell at work is apple products...

im def having second thoughts ... im on the priority list to bump up to the 32gb but with all these problems i may return my 16gb and forget it for now.

lets face it even if your right handed it willl be a problem...landscape mode you still put a finger over or around it that will make it decrease...

love the form factor and the features from my 3g but its starting to get old on how i have to hold it just to read stuff in landscape or hold in my left hand while i navigate with my right (right handed)

i agree they need to recall.... as for me ill see what the next week brings if nothing i will have to decide on the 29th day...

good luck

I don't have any problems. My friends don't. My friends from other states/areas don't either. So why should Apple issue a recall for the select few that are deliberately looking for problems?

The key bit of info for all you people with reception issues is that it ONLY happens in LOW reception areas. Who is provides/responsible for network service? AT&T. So why should Apple recall perfectly good hardware when the service provide is the bottleneck? I haven't seen one single report or rumor of someone from an area of good reception having these reception problems. Only those with poor service in the first place (finger is pointing to AT&T).

Considering they amount to a miniscule % of purchasers, I personally wouldn't have thought Apple exhibited a great deal of importance on your so-called "hardcore fan base".

I understand that but come on it's excessive.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

The problem for Apple is the bad press and future class-action suits. They settled in the iPod scratches case, they settled in the iPod headphones case. An iPhone lawsuit in a rocket docket would get LOTS of press, from start to finish. And then they would lose or settle. Better to fix stuff now.

Even worse, Apple's iPhone buyers are 90% regular consumers. They love the farmiliar simplicity of iOS and aren't impressed when geek/tech enthusiast (10% of the market) talk about "closed systems, customization, side loading, widgets....etc. "

But let them read in every paper how the phone is messed up... And they care.

For this reason, Apple management will most likely order a recall/give bumpers/issue credit soon. If they don't, they're replacements will. (did I mention shareholders?)

I have no clue how many are having this problem but pretty sure it isn't just a problem for those who are deliberately looking for problems.

All they will do is ship future phones with a cheap rubber case. That's it, no recall is needed because they offer you your money back.

Apple has a 12 month warranty on all of its hardware so there is no need to issue a recall. They will take care of any issues on a case-by-case basis. People just need to relax and quit acting like the sky is falling. It's not.

I'm specifically talking about the green dot issue with FaceTime. Some people returned/exchanged multiple iPhones when it's really because of the lighting environment that it (green dot) appears. Apple can fix that with a software patch for the camera(s).

People wouldn't normally pay attention to reception this much if they didn't read about it online and look for the problem. I bet if someone started poking into other phones (non-smartphones too), they would discover some hidden issue that only happens in select areas. After all, nothing is perfect, not even Apple.

I would agree that the people are looking for a problem. A lot of people live in areas with bad reception and that is the problem. Or to many users on one tower. It's just to easy to not touch the antennae.

That happens with every Apple product. I remember people going crazy over the screens in MacBook Pros when I got mine. People just expect a higher quality product from Apple.

Also as just posted. Apple users have long expected a higher quality product. This is nothing new.
