Apple should release when they have a product that's new and innovative - rather than these silly 12month cycles that simply keep the investors happy but mean they are never moving forward and simply copy the other vendors.

So in other words completely ignore what a corporation's duties are so people's feeling don't get hurt because their phone will no longer be the newest model?

Just because a new phone is released doesn't mean anyone has to immediately dump their current phone and upgrade to it.

No, in other words spend some time to make a quality innovative device not a crappy rehash or copy samsung. Who cars if its the latest, when the latest is the same as the last 2.

Except it's not the same as the last 2. For that matter, the 6s wasn't even the same as the 6.

remind me of the features again... oh yeah... thats right - they were the same..!
Nothing new since the 4 and worthwhile

It's not an argument... what innovations have happen of note since the 4?
Apple need to stop pleasing the shareholders and please the consumer by producing innovative and new products.

SE - well thats innovative, lets use a previous case and a new processor..
New colours for icons?
Moving the power button?

Because it's somehow different than cars or TVs or other appliances or many other products out there?

But were talking about this topic, this product not deflecting to others..
Cars are on a 7 year cycle and the new ones are better in every way vs the previous.

Pleasing the shareholders is the purpose a corporation exists. Pleasing the customers is simply one of the means of achieving that.

Have fun with your iPhone 4. We'll keep moving on with newer phones released with advancements in chip, screen, camera, etc.

I dont have a 4s.... well i do as an iPod like device in the car.
but what you are negativing to accept is the CPU maybe getting better, but the OS is twice as bad and the UI experience is going backwards even on my latest gen 6S...

Poor poor poor poor. Strange thing is, the 4s is still without lag on the old software

Sorry. But many people have no issues with the OS or UI experience.

So nothing of note since the 4s then was the conclusion.
Way to innovate apple.. looking forward to the next round of bloatware from WWDC and a new processor and maybe new colour cases. Wow exciting times.

No. That's your conclusion. It's wrong but you're welcome to keep thinking it.

My question to you is why do you upgrade your Apple devices given your feelings about their products releases and how it merges with your definition of innovation. If you want a corporation to change you should hit them in the pocket book by not buying their new products especially since you believe they are no different than the older generations. Why are you wasting money and affirming Apple's business strategy? Doesn't your purchase of the 6S and various other Apple products seem counterproductive to you and your desired goal?

What about Touch ID that apple introduced in the 5s isn't that innovative?

I had no choice based on "who" my employer was...
I haven't made up my mind which brand device i will purchase in Sept, but i wont just buy one for a logo on the back next time.

Scraping the barrel in search of a feature?
From a security point of view the error rate apple used in the technology means its not where near where it should be still. Apple bought the tech from AuthenTec - it's basically the Motorola Atrix 4G and version of it had been used on windows PCs for years before. But at least it was a new thing for phones, even if it wasn't new.

I'll add a few to your list...

Or Apple Pay NFC in the recent phones... or low power bluetooth... or true tone flash... or motion co processor... or OIS... or lightning connector... etc.

Low power or BT LE was introduced by Nokia in 2006.
Dual LED flash was on the Nokia's first too (2011)
Co-proc is part of the ARM design that apple as well as most over vendors just licence, but didn't invent.
OIS, same as pureview, SR and many other local names.
Connector is just a connector. Many others have their own too. But USB-C would have been a better move.
First NFC phone was the Nokia 6131, samsung also had it in a phone in 2010.

[doublepost=1464463567][/doublepost]Isn't USB-C just a connector also by your reasoning?

By YOUR argument I'm not sure why Apple released the iPhone at all. Cell phone and smart phones were around prior to the iPhone. Why do any companies exist at all. Lets just shut them all down.

Connector yes, thats the point!
innovation is what people are wanting pure and simple... that's all I'm saying and apple hasn't done much of it of late.

You are out of touch:

TouchID was worth while.
2 GB of memory is worth while.
Faster GPU/CPU is worth while.
SIRI is worth while for many.
Much better camera, and one that has IOS that is very worth while.
Retina HD display

Seriously? That's your argument?

Agree with your post

Groan... i have all of the things and its changed nothing. The cult of apple, how people can call this innovation and/or moving things forward is beyond me.
Lets just move to a 1/4 year release cycle as its appears all "some" people want is a new number it would seem.

Rose gold, whoop whoop!

But were talking about this topic, this product not deflecting to others..

There's a new model every year petty much often with just small updates compared to previous ones with smaller and larger redesigns sprinkled in.

And yes we are taking about this product, but why wouldn't it be in the context of most other products in the world? You are trying to make it sound like this is or should be different somehow, when the reality is that it isn't. It's just that simple.

What phone are you using currently?

If Apple hasn't produced anything noteworthy since the ip4, is there a brand that has?
