He can just say that ios has more apps than android. Which is true and no one denies that. But he doesn't have to lie about that he uses all 29 camera apps.

How much money did that cost him (or did he root his iphone to run illegal apps)? And look at the amount of apps he is using. There is no way that anyone has enough time to use all those app. There just is not enough time during the day. It is impossible. Look at the storage space of the iphone. With all those apps and all the picture shooting and editing he is doing and all the music he's listening too and all the videos hes shooting. I don't believe he has enough storage space on his phone.

He claims that all of these apps are essential to him and that he can't live without that. I call BS on that based on my own experience with the iphone and that of my friends.

Between my iPhone, and iPad I have around 200 Apps, and all have been used, and no regrets because each app has its place. You can't say that he doesn't use them all, or that it's a waste just I'm sure the OP has nothing to gain from lying about his app usage.

I have about 80 or so apps (damn surprised I had that many). Many, many games I don't play and many, many apps that are pretty much a waste of time (tip calculator comes to mind as well as the photoshop app, but the thought of editing a photo on a 3.5" screen just makes me laugh).

I guess I'm not as tied to my phone as some others. Weather.com app, Waze, music app, camera, mail and ibooks and I'm pretty much all set.

There are many good reasons to keep using the iPhone, but "can never switch" sounds like a bold statement. I assume OP has thought it through very carefully, in which case he's getting far more flame-posts than he deserves. OTOH, he may be parodying the fanboys, but there's still no reason to take the shoot on him like this.

I gotta say whoever recommended Waze, deserves props! I've used it several times today and love seeing other users, accurate police and traffic reports! For a free app it rocks!

Agreed, I don't use all of my apps all the time, but a lot of times I'll find something I forgot I had, and start using it again. For me, it's the combination of apps I have plus, iCloud that keeps me tied to iOS. Can't really beat that combination.

When the Galaxy S2 release date was announced I was torn between which phone I wanted to get: the 4S or GS2. I ended up with the 4S and a buddy of mine decided to go with the GS2. Both of us previously owned the 3GS.

Well, currently, I'm still with the 4S and he just bought one a couple of weeks ago. :)

I actually borrowed his GS2 a couple of days ago to see how it was and if I liked it/made the right decision last October. Well, honestly, I'm fine with Android. The apps I use on my iPhone are all available on their Market so that wasn't an issue. However, battery life was atrocious. I went to work at 2:30 yesterday with 80% and it died by 7. My iPhone can last me all night without dropping more than 30%. I understand Android phones run widgets and all that but 80% to 0% in a little over 4 hours is ridiculous. I don't even actually use my phone but more than 30 minutes when I'm at work so I couldn't figure that out.

Ultimately, the battery life is what did it for me with Android.

How about all of you grow up and if you don't like iphone, get off of mac rumors and go to an android forum ?

Simple

Your experience is normal. You have been "assimilated". Once you have enough invested in AAPL's Eco System this happens. AAPL has an extremely effective cradle to grave strategy in motion.

Besides, no one will want any Ice Cream Sandwiches once 6.0 is here. ;)

That depends. If it is a less than expected upgrade that 5.0 was, then i suspect you will be wrong. Not to mention if the screen isnt any bigger. If that hapens that would be a big kick in the nuts for Apple. However, a bigger screen alone will make it a huge seller no matter how little an upgrade 6.0 is.

Good points. For me if a 4S can run iOS 6 easily I'm happy. If 6.0 requires say, an A6 to run as described, then iOS features will come into play. Not a larger screen. I prefer the 3.5". We should start getting good information on both early August. :apple:

I like to be able to do complex things with my phone but I love the simplicity of doing those things. I had an Android before an iPhone and I liked it and thought I would hate the inability to fully customize home screen, widgets, sd card etc. What I soon found out though was that my iPhone would stay charged all day while the HTC Evo would need to be recharged at lunch (most likely because of the widgets I used) & the homes screen seems cleaner now & I don't spend twice as long organizing them all because I know there is a limit to the customization.
Another factor that I never see spoken about is that the SD card seems to be used as a big selling point for the Android over the iPhone. What I found with my Android was that not all apps allowed you to store them on the SD Card or all had to have at least a portion of the app on the phone itself. In 6 months I ran out of storage space because I ran into this issue. I now have the same and more apps and documents on my lowest model iPhone 4S.

SO.....a phone that allows for less customization and no widgets to provide information at your fingertips stays charged longer. Gee...thats a shock. You use a phone less and it stays charged longer.
I am happy you enlightened us all. You even managed to convince yourself that an external sd card has no value as well. Amazing.
Enjoy your iPhone. Sounds like it was meant for someone like you.

SO...he gave his opinion of why he likes one phone, over another and you post this. I am happy you enlightened all of us with your witty response.

I've had MicroSD cards in a few different phones, and laptops. Never used them. So does that mean I've convinced myself of something?

Most people find that just being able to put your music and pics on the sd card is a big space saver.

Now that the 5.1.1 jailbreak is out I don't see any point to going with Android over iPhone (software wise).

NCsettings - control toggles
Snes9x EX - gaming emulators with wiimote support
Browser Changer - make whichever browser you want the default
iFile - access to your phones file system and wifi transfer
Folder Enchancer - an appdrawer
Iconoclasm - different app layouts
Winterboard - theming
Dashboard X - widgets on your homescreen

Depends on how the phone is setup, sounds like his isn't setup right or he has dozens of widgets running. When mine was stock and calibrated, lasted longer then the 4S, actually both of them as had two so far. We use the phones heavily, and if ran to dead there was about an hour or so difference in life. But being rooted with a custom Rom now, battery life is insane, huge difference getting rid of bloatware etc (running shostock 2).

Which GS2 did he have though, the i777 was the most sorted and smoothest of the various models imo.

I dont believe you. I think you never had a One X and are just lying. I think you just played with a demo model for 5 minutes.
Still own the phone. Still use it daily. Still agree with everything I said in my previous post.

Ya welcome.

I also call BS. You could have figured this much out playing with it at AT&T. Sounds like you were really disappointed it wasn't an exact clone of your iPhone.
See above.

Wow Bentroxell, I'm shocked at the personal attacks you've received from this post! Honestly, this is why I made this thread, there's so much misinformation and hate on this forum.

This is an example of the Ad Hominem logical fallacy, an argument that attempts to counter another's claims or conclusions by attacking the person, rather than addressing the argument itself.

I will have to agree with you. These people need to chill their tits.

If it really "just works", then why are there so many threads on this forum about various iPhone problems?
I'm talking about the phone's software/hardware as a whole. Go to android forums and find the incredible amount of problems they are having as well.

I'm very surprised by the responses I've received. Actually, I made my own thread on the HTC One X forum and had more people agreeing with me. Here's the link

I used to think the same thing when I first ran android. Battery life was just terrible. Not doing much with it during the day and it wouldn't last me until 7pm. The iphone could go all day and into the night before i charge it before bed.

I have a Galaxy Note now and i'm running Juice Defender Ultimate. With the ultimate version you can control which apps need wifi/data etc while your phone is idle. The free version would barely get me until like 8pm. I installed the ultimate version and my phone has been unplugged since 6am this morning and it's now 2pm and it's at 97%. Data/wifi are off, but with a click of a button they are back on if I want them to be. I now cannot believe the battery life and how greatly it can be improved with one app.

Juice defender ultimate will seriously double your battery life.

I can't switch away from iPhone either. I always buy the newest Android phones when they arrive (Verizon and GSM models). They just never stick. The OS is too flawed in many ways. They just don't have it near perfect like Apple.

Hardware most of the time is pretty good on Android devices.

Um...bigger OLED+ screen. Swappable storage. Quad core. To name a few things. :)

Well, sure. Any phone will get great battery life if you turn off the radios! They take most of the juice (minus the screen, of course, but when off). iPhone gets pretty damn amazing battery life when the radios are off as well. :D

yeah and does apple make it an easy task to customize iOS to be able to do that?

with JD, you can choose what you want on and off.
