Ive never been one to want a case, but I find a case on my 7 Plus makes it it a lot more comfortable. Plus it helps with grip

Good. It makes me vomit in my mouth when I see people treating iPhones like a newborn baby. Exchanging it because of a tiny micro scratch.

Im sure ill get quoted by people saying its an expensive investment but so what? So many people here treat the phone like its gold just so its in mint condition for the next owner? SMH.

It shouldn't really even be considered an investment and even if it was it would be a terrible one. A good investment would be buying a cheapo Android device for less than a 100bucks that does almost everything an iPhone could do for you.

Who cares?

I care? lol. Kinda cool to see people do what I consider to be difficult (going caseless). This is an Apple forum after all. I mean, if this was a biker's forum or smoke weed forum (awesome avatar btw) - ok yeah, who cares? :p

I'd like to think there are SOME people like me out there. I'm glad not everyone is like me because if they were, this world would be boring as hell (which is why I don't get why people get so upset with those that don't hold their same viewpoint).

Yes, there are more important things in life, but it isn't terrible to splurge on a few fun issues now and then.

Agreed, posts like these (exchanging for micro scratches) make me shake my head and wonder how my life could get to a point where worrying about scratches on my phone would ruin my day.

I agree with this. I have a coworker that buys used Android phones for a few hundred, uses them for a few years, then resells them again (getting almost every penny he paid) and buys another used Android phone. That guy saves himself some serious $$$ and I envy him. And yeah, he actually uses his phone a LOT.

i would use my iphone 7 plus without a case if it wasn't so slippery.. so i'm forced to use one.

What does it matter? It's his preference. He doesn't share your view points and it doesn't necessarily mean the interruptions are an issue. He is demonstrating how he divides both devices for separate reasons.

i understand that, but the whole thing doesn't make any sense based on his arguments for doing what he's doing.. he's complaining that

- he doesn't want to interrupt his music -- yet when you have to answer the call, it's being interrupted anyways
- forgetting where you left off -- not the case if you answer the call, play just resumes from when the call came in
- notification sounds -- DND or just mute while you play. a vibration will be felt when a call or text come through and the screen will light up in the same manner.

in the end he's free to do what he wants, but it's actually more productive to use one device and not 2. logically, he's making no sense. but then again, logic is a lost cause these days.

I have certain devices I use without a case and certain ones that I do. I've got the devices that are keepers and ones that I sell or trade in.

However, all of them are pretty much babied and look fairly new still. I'm luckily pretty careful with my stuff. However, I've got insurance on the newest one I get every time.

As for cases, I tend to get them not only for protection but for design too. I'm on a search for a smoke matte transparent case for my 7+ that looks like the one I've got for my 6s. No luck yet.

I'm confused. Why do you need a separate device to stream music on when you could just stream it on your primary phone? So you could take pictures of the other phone lol

I use a Note 3 for music because it connects quickly to my car, it's got a ROM so the equalizer has a lot of settings, on airplane mode the phone can last weeks without a charge, and it's a lot easier to have an SD card that's being transferred from Android to Android.

I use a case on my iPhone because it gives me a better grip. Resale value is an added bonus but honestly iPhones slip out of my hand so easily without a case. Plus it adds style and individuality to a phone.

Let me address those points…

- he doesn't want to interrupt his music -- yet when you have to answer the call, it's being interrupted anyways
Yes I am being interrrupted and my complaining about that makes no sense when I could just as well be interrupted on the primary device. Sure, I get that.

Your points all stem from the fact of answering a call and leaving your ear pods in your ears. As I explained earlier, I prefer to put my phone to my ear. That means removing not only the ear pods from my ear it also means removing the plug from the jack. It also means digging my phone out of my pocket to answer the call.

How I use my phone differs from how you use it. Therefore it makes no sense to you because I'm not doing it the way you would do it.

- forgetting where you left off -- not the case if you answer the call, play just resumes from when the call came in
This has not been my experience if I remove the plug from the jack so that I can put the phone to my ear.

- notification sounds -- DND or just mute while you play. a vibration will be felt when a call or text come through and the screen will light up in the same manner.
Vibration won't happen. I have it turned off. I hate vibration. And I won't see the screen light up because if I use my primary phone, where is it? In my pocket.

My personal preferences don't necessarily have to be logical or make any sense to anyone but myself. Since everyone is different it's a relief to not have to adhere to whatever society has determined is logical all the time.

I like cases coz they're are a number of really cool and nice looking ones out there at the minute.

Also I've dropped my 7 Plus twice since September and I honestly believe that the case has prevented it from smashing (and screen protector).

I was never really one for cases before, always went naked. But having no insurance in place and because it was an expensive product (bought sim free) I would hate to drop and smash.

I think having Apple Care is the only time I'd enjoy it naked.
I need to check how much that is actually as it might be a good idea to invest in so I can not worry so much.

The reason I've always used a case is they make phones so damn slippery I can't securely hold onto it otherwise.

Slipperiness.

I hear that a lot from those who choose to use cases. And while I don't knock those who use cases for their choice (whatever reason they use for that choice) it makes me wonder sometimes.

Before the 7/7+ there were threads on how 'slippery' the iPhone 6s/6s+ were. The 6/6+ before that and the 5s before that and so on.

Yet I have managed to get through 4.5 years without destroying my iPhone 5 and 9 months without destroying my iPhone 6s+.

So, the slippery argument only goes so far with me. I think sometimes it's a cover for the fact that people don't want to be as careful with their devices as is required. I have seen more careless handling of devices by those who use cases then I ever have from those who do not. The assumption that the case will protect from general carelessness is strong. People don't have to think because that case allows them not to.

And before I get hate, I'm not saying this is the attitude of ALL who use cases. I know there are plenty of people who use cases and are far more careful with their devices than I am. But I just think sometimes with some people that assumption exists.

If you want to use cases fine, I have no problem with that. My problem is using slipperiness as a justification when I and many others who do not use cases have the same slippery device and don't have issues. There's got to be another reason here and it's not slipperiness. If it was, lots of people who don't use cases would be cracking screens and destroying devices on a consistent basis.

Other than briefly using cases on the 5/5s models, I generally do not use cases on my phone. My 6s and SE both are used without a case and are in mint condition.

(now watch, I'll end up dropping one after this post)

Stop making sense on this thread eyoungren. You may actually convince someone that your likely accurate with your responses.

I see your iPhone 5 and raise you a regularly used 3GS. In fact I used it all last week with my SIM in it as my main phone to get away from the distractions of social media as I don't install FB/Insta/etc on it. Great music player (iOS 6 and below had the best music app), still good battery life somehow, good performance with the stock apps and Messenger, Opera, etc other light apps.

I use it totally naked and it feels great in the hand.

My iPhone 7 though, I have an Apple Leather case on it for now to keep it nice at least for the first year or two then it'll probably end up like the 3GS if not sold. It's the Jet Black model though so that was the main factor for a simple case. I love the saddle brown leather though.

As far as my previous devices. Droid Incredible, Samsung GS III, BlackBerry Z10, HTC One M8, Moto X, HTC 10, iPhone 4S, 5, 5c, 6 Plus, 6S, and SE all never had a case when I owned them. But none were as expensive as the iPhone 7 either as it was straight from Apple Unlocked and I plan on keeping it for many years this time. Though I always say that.

Also, the JB iPhone 7 is far from slick for me, the 3GS though, it's a bit slippery but easy to hold in the hand and curved so it's a non-issue. It also feels like a tank.
