Yes really. I don't like the iPhone, and consider it a waste of money and all things being equal, just a phone.

You will never see me in the iPhone forums posting my disgust of it... that's being a troll.

And you will never find me owning one and then posting my dissatisfaction with it, wether it be misplaced or justified. That's trolling.

Unfortunately, everyone is entitled to rant on this site, even if it brings out the worst in most people.

Hang on a minute , trolling is not sharing your feelings about a product which is owned , be they good or bad ...trolling is ( as far as I am aware) going into a thread/forum to deliberately upset the flow of the thread ....kind of baiting the previous folks comments about whatever the issue may be .
The Op is (rightly so ) not too happy with what has happened with his purchase and is sharing his feelings about it .

I simply disagree with you .

Unfortunately, everyone is entitled to rant on this site, even if it brings out the worst in most posters (not you OP, the others that want to take it too far). I can understand your position since i have been lemoned by Apple as well. But I will never understand the need for some to post their dislike of certain products on forums that have supports of said products.
So it's wrong to want better Apple products?

you don't know what trolling is

No. I do.

See for yourself.

Or this one.

Pay close attention to the parts that say: "with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response."

For you, the OP, it's a little different since you started the topic, so you can't take it OFF topic, but you still in essence are provoking many posters to give their emotional response.

Just because you created the thread under good intentions of discussing the shortcomings of a product, or your intentions of owning another competing product, doesn't mean that you had NO IDEA that it would incite some to negative statements.

For example: Posting a new thread entitles, "I hate Macs!" on a Mac forum.

So it's wrong to want better Apple products?

You know that I am all for better, non-flawed Apple products.

I love how you ignore one of the only posts on this thread that can actually help you with your problem, so I quote myself:
Did you try calling customer relations regarding it? There have been countless success stories with them, even on computers that are out of warranty. You could get a new, non-lemon, computer.

MacRumors isn't customer relations, so there isn't too much we can actually do aside from saying "My MacBook is perfect" or "Wait for the new aluminum ones that were supposed to be out two years ago."

maybe you should re-read your own sources because they mostly disagree with your definition

edit: ironically you're trolling me right now

"Messages intended solely to annoy and/or offend other users by going against the clear nature of a board, topic or chat room are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: provoking other users to respond with flames; provoking fans of a particular system or game, especially on boards or topics dedicated to that system or game; making misleading topic titles; asking obviously useless questions; and posting false information as fact."

Maybe, but this is what you wanted right? Because you did want to talk about why you don't want a Mac on a Mac forum.

Sadly I can't subscribe to your definition of trolling.

I have black MacBook Core 2 Duo that I bought in November 2006. The only problem I have had is the firewire port no longer works from a power surge. Have AppleCare and just haven't had the time to be without my notebook for a week. No cracks and it spent the better part of the last two years being toted in a backpack. I don't know how these MacBooks that are babied crack so easily. Just baffles me. Maybe the rough love is good for it. :)

I can't sub to that definition either

If I had called them yet, I would have responded to your comment. I have not contacted them yet but I do plan to shortly.

Digital Skunk, I have a Mac and I am posted legitimate concerns about my Mac on a Mac forum. If I didn't own a Mac, you may have a point. Unfortunately at this point you're trying to equate trolling with criticism.

I guess, I just have a different understanding of it.

Nevermind, continue.
That's perfectly fine.

I just hope the OP gets a suitable solution to their persistent hardware problems with their MacBook. There are many users that have had wonderful experiences with their Macbooks such as myself. There are still more users that have had nothing but problems. I don't see the need to isolate those less fortunate users.

It's going to be tough OP but you're going to have to put pressure on Apple's employees and consumer relations. Get back to us if you have any luck or not.

I'm sure you'd be happy to tell us your feelings on how you've been treated by Apple and their solution to the situation(s).

I agree.

Not to start, NOT trolling myself, but with the bad Apples I have had, Apple has taken care of them.

The one reason I always recommend Apple Care to anyone is because of the many flaws that Macs do have. The G5 tower being one of them, and your MacBook being one as well.

There hasn't been one Mac that I have owned that hasn't has an issue. My current 17" Penryn having string of dead pixels in the corner. Just can't afford to be without it for 3-5 business days.

I'm just not really sure what to say or expect, or even what Apple can do to make me feel better about this. Ideally a replacement with whatever new model comes out would be ideal, but I'm not a complete idiot and don't expect this nor think it to be realistic in the slightest.

I want Apple to make this right, but I'm not even sure how they can. They need to do something to re instill my faith in them as a company and their products.

Any ideas? :S

It might be time to give sjobs@apple.com a try if you believe Apple's solution(s) aren't to your satisfaction. It's not guaranteed that you'll get a response. You might give the proper channels a little longer. It doesn't hurt to wring their arm a little given your history or talk to a superior that you're not happy.

This is very fun to do in store when you really know what you're talking about. Best to remain calm and collected when you do it though.

The chance of getting a response there is about 20%, go with Customer Relations first. Anyway, tell us what happens.

I still find it weird that you seem to cling to some kind of emotional attachment regarding Apple. I'd start by dropping that or you will be disappointed.

edit: I'll shut up now :p

i have an emotional attachment to $1600

i have an emotional attachment to $1600

Then you discuss your emotional attachment to people who care, on some microsoft forum. Listen, I'm not here to bash on you for not liking your Mac or OSX. Personally, I don't like my mac hardware, but I like the software. And that is what I discuss on macrumors. Look at my computers in my sig, I personally love XP, Vista, Ubuntu and OSX. They all work great, so stop bitching.
