Well, if that was the case, I wouldn't tell you that many comments say that this laptop gets too hot, that it's plain stupid to have three different video port (including the minidisplayport), that it's even more stupid to have two audio out, and that it comes with Windows ******* Vista. Also, the fans are behind the computer, but when you open the screen the air comes up in front of the screen.
Nothing compared to the beauty of the unibody MacBook.

Anyway, I've received an e-mail from Apple a few hours ago, saying that I will receive my money back in 5 to 7 days.

So what are you buying now?

Maybe the desktop version, but not fully loaded. But it sucks because I'll have a Windows Vista licence and I don't need it. And when Windows 7 will be there I'll have to pay for it again...

And they'd be right.

You dont have to write a couple of non-spaced paragraphs to get your point across. Obviously you arent changing anyones mind here.

yeah.. then again if you don't like the tracking.. too bad - i switch between PC and OS X a lot in my line of work... and to be honest i barely notice a difference.

to each his own - if you think you have a better deal with dell then good for you but you don't have to write a 1000 word essay to make others change their minds or to justify your choice.

you liked something better. big whoop

Now let's move on to the "heavy" feel of the GUI.

I don't quite get it, are you saying windows is snappier than OSX ?

example, leopard vs vista or leopard vs xp

I'm back and forth as well and when I first started using os x it did bug me.... for about 2 days. Don't even notice it anymore, however I am not a gamer

I wanna call him a Troll but it seems he actually used it. The mouse has two settings areas that I found. The big one is the pause or mouse resume something control I found in the System Pref. There isn't any way that computer is slower and not a zippy as a Windows or even Win7 computer. And typing was a problem? Seriously... And iWork 09 is simple and wonderful to use. While everyone I know b*tched about Office 07 on the PC because nothing was where it used to be.

About the "heavy feel" (other than the mouse), I'll try to explain. A good example of it is when you are using any software on a PC and then you are using iTunes (still on a PC). You can clearly see that iTunes has this heavy and slow feeling to it. When you click on a menu (especially on the left bar), it isn't "snappy" at all.

@Aucun Express

I do understand, however I'm just shocked and can't believe it. The iTunes is one of the buggiest software I ever used in a PC, its so slow, I keep thinking that Microsoft probably screwed it up or something.

iTunes in OSX however is so smooth, and the performance of iTunes in a PC is nowhere as good as that one in OSX.

The scary thing is I actually looked for people with similar experience than yours, and you are not alone.

---------------

So any other people who works in both PC and Mac can confirm this?

It does seem really bizarre that after all these years, neither Apple nor a 3rd party has made some kind of utility that will allow you to turn off mouse acceleration.

I personally prefer the OSX style mouse control for general computing, but I can understand why some people would not.

Also, even though I prefer the OSX mouse for general use, for gaming it is not very good.
For example... I used to play Warcraft III quite competitively, and even though my Mac was able to run it just fine, because I was not able to turn off OSX's acceleration, I was forced to use a PC to play the game with proper control.

I'm no programmer, but it really doesn't seem like it should be so difficult...

I still don't understand these "mouse problems". I go into Windows for Steam (unmetered <3) every so often, and never notice the mouse moving differently.

Me either. Maybe we don't use the mouse the same way as everyone else? I honestly can't tell a difference. The only thing I do on the Mac side is increase the tracking speed.

LOL

1) 8gb ddr3 RAM just for "What if..." is CRAZY. CRAZY. CRAZY. You should have taken 4gb and then upgrade to 8gb FOR 100$ in mid 2010. If you unplug your brain when buying, then don't come here complaining about the crazy 4500$ price...

2) LOL LOL LOL for the mouse :) Give back a computer for the mouse :) Now I have really heard everything in my life :) Trash the MM and get a Razer Deathadder Mac Edition:

But what if I don't and I still find it annoying and that I paid 4500 bucks for a machine I don't want anymore? And yes I installed Boot Camp, but why paying that much money in order to have a nice looking PC?
So, I'll send it back and maybe, as someone said, I could buy the cheapest Mac (Mini). And maybe they will do a cheap netbook one day.
Or maybe one day Apple will change the mouse way and users will be able to select a Windows kind of curve in the options.

About the mouse, here is an article about it:
http://db.tidbits.com/article/8893

The Mini is in the refurb store right now for $499 for the base model. With the money you get from your return I'm sure you could build an absolute mondo Windows system and still have plenty of $$ left over for a Mini HTPC.

Good luck!

Holy crap this is an awesome thread.
I love the dramatic posting ...
"never thought I would post ..."
"8 gigs of ram because what if?"

Your mouse sucks so you return a computer? Interesting. Did you get the model that had the mouse JB welded into the USB port? I'm just wondering.

OP enjoy your new windows machine and let's hope your mouse doesn't suck.

I find it very hard that people will go out and spend a couple of thousand
dollars on which ever mac they fancy, just to post irrelevant silly posts
about a "phantom mouse" problem living inside the kernel of their macs.

Excuse me if I don't consider RELIABLE "ppl" who buy crazy-priced 8gb ddr3 RAM just for "what if..." reasons instead of waiting a couple of months and pay 1/10 of the price....maybe some of you "artistic" ppl could use some technical advice...

Millions of Mac are sold every year, it's inevitable that someone will experience or believe to experience or misunderstood some problems...

Anyway, I will "investigate" about this "mouse" (can we say "cursor"? So it's clearer....) issue....maybe it's not such a big deal, since milions of graphic professional use macs to work...
