I do not go on android forums claiming superior that’s for sure. But, I guess my Pro Max 256gb sucks. I didn’t know that?? I thought it was the fastest phone around, with the best camera on the market in a phone.

boy was I wrong!!
You were wrong. Now give me your Pro Max so you can go out and get a Note 10+... It wouldn't happen to be in that ugly green color BTW? Just curious ;)

This thread isn't about the 11 Pro... ?

No one forced you to buy the Apple Watch. You locked yourself in on that. Samsung makes watches that some would argue are better.

You said my opinion seems to be based on only my own needs and requirements... BINGO you hit that nail right on the head! This is why it doesn't make sense that you bought something that didn't meet your needs and requirements. I put myself in your shoes and think why would I do this? It doesn't make sense at all. If Apple makes a product that doesn't work for me I'm not going to buy it. Not every product can be made for all users. If that was true all phones would be the same.

It's been a US thing for a while now. I'm not sure if other countries do it. It's one way they save on data. Some carriers offer high end unlimited plans that allow 1080P. These plans are usually a bit more expensive than the regular "unlimited" plans
The Apple Watch DOES meet my needs and requirements, I’m sorry if you cannot accept someone criticising Apple, which is displayed with your advice to just ’buy something else‘, and yes in the US your way behind in cellular contracts, here in the UK the latest thing is totally unlimited data and calls and text..

All Apple needs to do is upgrade the 12 with a decent resolution OLED to 1080P which indications are that’s exactly what they will be doing.. because the 5.8” iPhone lacks the feature zoomed screen mode which is pretty disgraceful for a supposed flagship device costing a grand no matter the reason for it.

1080p mon should be still very cheap, let's say it is $3 more expensive for Apple to use 1080p screen. I really want an at least 1080p iPhone instead of 720p, so I skip upgrading iPhone again.

JEZZ! I love my new iPhone 11 and the screen display. Now I wonder if I bought an inferior phone because it's only 720P? I guess I'll just have to soldier on with what appears to be the best iPhone I've ever owned and I've had them all from the 3G onward. I guess I'm just not that critical about the finer points.

IF there had been a $3 option when I ordered the new 11 ($702 verses $699), I probably would have checked that box because I bare the disease that things more expensive are better. I also confess I bought a 4K TV for much the same reason even though there is VERY little 4K content available the past 2 years. Main benefit to my 4K set, black is blacker.

$3 more cost for Apple doesn't mean Apple charges you $3. Apple charges you "pro" for that.

Is that a U.S. thing? Phone companies over there are even bigger rip-offs than Apple...

Apple’s cost of ownership is lower because of the high resale value. The iPhone 11 is cheaper in today’s dollars than the original 8GB iPhone in 2007. Demand is up for the 11 especially in China with iPhone sales up 300% over last year and waiting lists for the green and purple per 9-5 Mac. That will translate to high resale value.

You can take a 3-generation old Android, smear it bacon grease and throw it out in your yard and your dog wouldn’t touch it. The Xr/11 is going to cut the middle out of the Android range simply on bang for the buck over 3 years, not counting support for the Apple Watch.

I absolutely agree with you about US carriers offering cr@p service though.

So your excuse for using a phone that doesn't meet your needs is because you think smart watches other than Apple are terrible? I personally would compromise on a watch before a phone but it's your money.

mi9 has 403 ppi, better than 2K resolution.
iPhone 11? "720p" in year 2019

How many times do we have to say it? iPhone 11 isn’t 720p. It’s 1792 x 828 (mistakenly put 868 earlier).

If you want to make an argument about 2019, then go by pixel density and say how 326ppi disappoints you in 2019. That would be a better argument.

So the Mi9 has 403ppi. It’s a single spec. If that’s what really drives you to purchase a phone, go for it! Nothing wrong with that. But the iPhone 11 is the base iPhone. 326ppi isn’t bad at all. It has excellent cameras, battery life, performance and efficiency. It’s a whole package with certain trade offs Apple has made to differentiate it from the 11 Pro and put the base price at $699.

I also said that for world standard that is "720p", and Apple charges you at least $699 for an almost 10 years old tech.

Mi 9 has better dxo mark than iPhone XS Max which means Mi 9 has better camera.

Mi9 even has bigger battery

Performance/Efficiency is hard to measure, depend on what do you do. I only know a lot of apps are paid in App Store but free in Android, for $ efficiency Apple Store lose for sure. Top phone cpu are all so fast anyway and no app can really takes full advantage of it, which makes no different.

$3 more cost for Apple doesn't mean Apple charges you $3. Apple charges you "pro" for that.
Another one of those "it would cost Apple $1 to add/change this part" comments.... Yes and the Note 11+ and iPhone 11 Pro Max retail for $399

That was 3 generations ago. All the flagships are $1k or over, Apple, Samsung, Google, LG... Of course you can buy a much better Samsung foldable for $1,980. WHAT! Where’s the cheaper foldable at $600 with all the features? I demand it!

But where you really get taken by the competition is when you trade in. The initial price difference is peanuts compared to the two year old value of an iPhone vs an Android.

So how cheap/expensive is the IPhone 11? The original iPhone was $599 for 8GB in 2007. Accounting for inflation that’s $741 in 2019 dollars. So you’d rather have the original iPhone over the 11 at $699? Or even an 11 Pro at $999? Huh.

When you say thee generations ago it seems like ages. But in September 2017, a little over two years ago, the iPhone costed just $649 and there was no “Pro”. The Samsung Galaxy S8 was released in April 2017 for $724.

The phones only got more expensive because Apple decided to launch a $999 iPhone which would have never existed under Steve Jobs. Because the iPhone became more expensive, other manufacturers found room to raise the prices as well. The flagships are $999 now because Apple led the way.

Chinese phone has the best dxo score now which means Chinese phone has the best phone camera, this may makes you feel sad but sadly it is true.
This is getting old. Since the crazy YouTube guy did a clickbait video and screamed ‘fraud’ all the android fanboys showed up here and started complaining. And yet the XR sold pretty well. Seems like the whole resolution drama is not so much of a problem at all. So why don’t you just buy your superior Chinese phone, be happy about the display, and we all can call it a day.

Thank you.

$3 * 10 million phones is $30 million. That's money straight out of Tim's bonus.

Tim won't even give you a spare pencil tip that costs 4 cents to make, and you want 1080p from him for less than $1k...
Good for Tim. I’d rather that 30 million go into his pocket and the dividend and stock price than make customers happy. /s

No he doesn't want to buy an Android phone. Not because he has one already but just wants Apple to make the $3 change. Don't you understand?

They're bored... What's more fun posting about how awesome your new Note 10+ is on Android forums or posting how terrible the new iPhone 11 is on Apple forums. One will get you more reactions than the other.

I don’t know what else to tell you. It’s an excellent quality LCD display with 326ppi. Would it be nicer if it was higher? Of course! I said that earlier in the thread.

Don’t forget. This is the iPhone for the masses. A tiny percentage of iPhone XR / 11 purchasers will even understand what pixel density is.

Am I trying to excuse what apple is doing with the XR and 11? Absolutely not. Am I trying to explain and understand their reasoning behind it? Yup.

If you want some Chinese phone with all the spec boxes checked, go ahead and get one. Clearly that’s all that matters to you, in which case iPhone isn’t what you are looking for.

Yep, I would say pretty much because even if a 400ppi ~1080p panel is now 'cheap', a 326ppi ~720p one is cheaper still, and makes the difference to the pros that much more noticeable. With the 6-8 models vs their plus variants, there is a noticeable difference, side by side, but the 4.7" models are certainly good enough, so I guess it's good enough for the main iPhones going forward.

I think Apple got the sizing all wrong.

The 11 should be 5.8”, the 11 Pro should be 6.1”.

That would have been more understandable for the resolutions they picked.

Unless you consider that often, the miniature version of a product is a more difficult item to design/create - making it a premium item.

Guys, this is the craziest conversation. For the techies that care about OLED and the highest pixel count that you can get on a phone, Apple makes the Pro models. For the majority of the world that just wants a great phone with an amazing screen, Apple makes the iPhone 11. There is a phone for everyone.

You’re a year, or 33% off. The iPhone X was released in 2017 at a base price of $999, which is still the base price. But in 2017, you could get an iPhone 8 which had the same guts if you wanted. It’s still a fine phone and still highly recommended.

If you’re going to compare 2016 phones, which was the last year before the release of the higher-priced next gen iPhone flagships beginning with the X, you’d have to compare it to the Note 7, which admittedly was a flaming success! Lol. At least the iPhone 7 didn’t explode.

Encoding a 1 minute long 4K video in 25 seconds with software vs 3 minutes on a SD855 is quite nice!

now imagine a 10 minute long video.

Applications use the power.

This youtuber mainly sells Apple stuff. Never believe any youtuber that makes a living base on selling stuff, believe what you see from your eyes.
“Selling”

His last video literally said his favorite phone right now was the OnePlus 7t, but yeah.
