Crazy many people would really just believe their XR/11 are 1080p just because they see the 1080p option in youtube video option.

Almost no one believes that. The average consumer doesn't know much about tech or about different display types (LCD, OLED, AMOLED etc) or the individual resolution. And since the Xr / 11's display looks fine, why should they care?

The 1080p/1440p/4K resolution makes sense for the YouTube app, because it improves the video quality, even on an 828p display.

Your argument doesn't make any sense. That's like saying oh YouTube needs to remove the 1440p / 4K option for the 8 Plus, because that one is only 1080p. 4K looks better than 1080p, even on an 1080p screen. Same with PC monitors, TVs etc... why can most of the smartphones film 4K, if there is no smartphone with a 4K display? Oh BTW, 1440p Displays also drain your battery more.

I did see the screen quality in that video with my own eyes, at least as well as my Gen 3 iPad Pro can resolve it.

The point of the video was one that’s been made in this theead many times, it isn’t ONLY resolution that matters.

How about this one? Haven’t the slightest who it is, but I can see the difference in the screens.

“Selling”

His last video literally said his favorite phone right now was the OnePlus 7t, but yeah.

salesman sells 7T in that video, why not? LOL you really believe that is his real "favorite phone"?

How many times do we have to say it? iPhone 11 isn’t 720p. It’s 1792 x 868.

If you want to make an argument about 2019, then go by pixel density and say how 326ppi disappoints you in 2019. That would be a better argument.

So the Mi9 has 403ppi. It’s a single spec. If that’s what really drives you to purchase a phone, go for it! Nothing wrong with that. But the iPhone 11 is the base iPhone. 326ppi isn’t bad at all. It has excellent cameras, battery life, performance and efficiency. It’s a whole package with certain trade offs Apple has made to differentiate it from the 11 Pro and put the base price at $699.

Isn't it 1792x828? Not 868p?
Guys, this is the craziest conversation. For the techies that care about OLED and the highest pixel count that you can get on a phone, Apple makes the Pro models. For the majority of the world that just wants a great phone with an amazing screen, Apple makes the iPhone 11. There is a phone for everyone.

Exactly, People need to understand this.

Cherry pick videos with mostly black background with extremely fast moving objects, how can anyone tell the details different? XR has better "screen" quality than that super cheap Chinese phone then for that kind of fast moving stuff in black background it would look better. Why not show a nice stable image with a lot of details? LOL youtuber knows how to sell stuff. XR costs like around 300% of that Chinese phone.

At this point the only one trying to sell anything seems to be you and your Chinese phones.

For me the reason why I had bought the 11 and returned the 11 Pro was the very clearly noticeable artefacts of the OLED screen resulting from the unpleasant PenTile OLED arrangement which actually halves the nominal resolution and produces clearly visible tearing of horizontal and vertical contrast borders, plus the unbearable flickering and jumping when scrolling due to the PenTile re-rendering on alternating scan-lines with the artefacts jumping around as a result.

Neither of these problems are present in the excellent full-RGB LCDs in the XR/11 wich actually have a higher effective resolution, and completely artifact-free.

No, it isn’t, exactly the opposite. The point was 1080p is always better. It isn’t.

You made my point and agreed with me, other things besides just resolution make a difference. Otherwise a cheap 1080p display would best the Xr/11.

I don't need to buy that kind of very expensive model to show off.

Ahhhh...I see. You must have gotten the green IP 11. The color of envy.
Don’t like the specs, don’t buy the phone. There are others in the iPhone line-up to suit your needs.
Put on your big boy pants and stop whining. Create your own, what, trillion dollar company and make the phone you want.

1080p mon should be still very cheap, let's say it is $3 more expensive for Apple to use 1080p screen. I really want an at least 1080p iPhone instead of 720p, so I skip upgrading iPhone again.
Why do people still ask this question? The XR has proven that most people won’t be able to discern the difference. Besides, that “720p” screen is the same PPI as the iPhone 8, yet I don’t see anybody making a big deal out of it when the iPhone 8 was launched.

Unless you use your phone by placing it right on top of your eyeball, you won’t notice any difference.

There is no easy direct comparison - but calling it a 720p is hyperbolic and nonsense

- iPhone 11 has rgb subpixel 1.5m pixels display. About halfway between 720p (900k) and 1080p (2m). But complicated by not being a 16:9 aspect ratio

- IPhone 8+ is 1080p but downsampled from a slightly higher internal resolution which means potential for some scaling artefacts which could impact sharpness

- Iphone 11 pro has a 50% higher resolution than the 11 but is pentile OLED which means fewer subpixels Which can affect sharpness

basically just using the raw numbers is pointless and we should be reviewing how other factors like perceived sharpness, colour accuracy, brightness etc.

the 11 has a fine display and dismissing it solely because it’s ‘lol 720p’ is immature misleading nonsense

Not looking for an argument but I disagree. If you don't see any difference then be happy with the device you hold. Just don't suggest that no one can see any difference though normal use. I've never placed my device up to my eyeball.

I can see the difference in my 4k OLED TV compared to my old 1080p model. I can see the difference in my work 5k iMac compared to older version. I can see the difference from my 1080p 7+ compared to the 11.

Would I tell anyone with the iphone 11 that their device has an inferior display compared to other phones? Not a chance. It's a great phone with a nice display and I'm thankful Apple still make LCD devices.

Tell that to the OP then.

As you’ve noted, Apple can’t win.

1. People rant for a cheaper iPhone
2. Apple builds cheaper iPhone, and a darned excellent one at that according to almost everyone, the Xr/11
3. People rant because excellent cheaper phone doesn’t have all the features of the flagships (at the same cheaper price).

The iPhone XR was the best selling iPhone last year and I expect the iPhone 11 to continue this trend.

Apple has already won where it counts.

I went from an X to a 11. While watching videos, the 11 is actually nicer. I enjoy the extra screen space. I don't notice the lack of absolute blacks the oled's have unless I'm looking at it from an irregular angle.

Won’t lie, kinda expect the 11 to get tied with the XR.

OT: I recognize your username, you wouldn’t happen to have an LTT account?
