Then you would be dealing with the final render being downscaled, making the phone appear slightly blurry.Personally for me; if I had to choose a phone other than the pro max, I would go 8 plus or 7 plus because of the 1080p screen

And unfortunately for you, your eyesight is so good that a lower resolution display is unacceptable. Thankfully, there are choices. You can choose to spend more for a better display. Others can choose to spend less for the 'substandard" display that they are perfectly fine with. There is no right or wrong. Everybody wins.

If I were just buying a display and nothing else, then the price is huge. I'm looking at the whole package and for the money, I prefer the iPhone. But that's just me. It's not you obviously. What's not so obvious is why someone would join an Apple forum 3 days ago and harp on and on in the same thread about what they perceive as a bad display? You don't like it so you joined the forum to start a thread to complain? Please help me understand.Apple wins the money for sure. Do you win by buying a 720p phone with that much money? I doubt. Any other big brand still selling 720p now in year 2019? I don't think so. Even the cheapest Redmi offers at least 1080p now with around $100 USD.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Almost no original source comes with iphone 11/xr 1792-by-828-pixel. When you watch youtube with iphone 11/xr it downscale the 1080 source for sure. yeah slightly lburry with iphone 11/xr downscale.

Media being up and downscaled doesn’t see nearly the same effect as text, especially on small screens, like a phone screen.I have no idea what you are talking about. Media, no, it’s not.You are basically saying "slightly lburry is not a big deal"
The average user cant tell the difference or simply dont care about the screen resolution. Only people that really complain about it are techies on forums like this and that is not Apple's target audience. Unless you have the 11 and the Pro side by side it doesn't matter. In day to day use the screen is excellent and even if you can tell the difference you'll forget about it after a couple days. I know 5 family members and friends with XR's and they all love it. They didn't even know the resolution was different than the Max.
My girlfriend didn’t even know a new iPhone was announced until I told her, let alone know the difference I’m display technology lol. She has an 11 pro now but only because I told her a new iPhone is out. That’s how much non techie ppl couldn’t care less about those type of differences.

Not that you’d notice anyways. Common practice with carriers is to limit streaming to 720p or 480p, and pentile displays (what EVERY OLED phone display is) are blurrier than an LCD at the same resolution. Your OLED 1080p Android’s screen isn’t comparable to any LCD alternative without dropping the LCD’s resolution. That’s the resulf of using RGBG subpixels.
Any derivative of Verizon, TMobile, AT&T, or Sprint. It’s to reduce bandwidth and the load a single user causes on their towers. What kind of crappy carrier limits resolution on streaming? First time I ever heard of something like this

It's actually common for some carriers to limit video streaming to 480p. You need the more expensive premium plan if you want HD or Full HD.
On the other hand, limiting your bandwidth is also counterproductive because your customers use the network less hence you can’t charge them more.
I don't understand why no one sees how washed out colours on display
In the same way no one sees washed out colours on the previous LCD iPhones or ipads I guess.I don't understand why no one sees how washed out colours on display
It's because you can't directly compare LCD and OLED screen resolutions. It takes a higher resolution in OLED to look as good. I forget the exact numbers and the science behind it and too lazy to look it up at the moment LOL

I also just checked against my 8 Plus and couldn’t really tell a difference. I think OP is getting hung up on a resolution and seeing things that aren’t really there.
The Google/YouTube restraints on Apple products (1080p) hasn't affected me one bit. 🤷
They're not showing up Apple, or us, they're only showing themselves in a bad light.
720p v 1080p, the same. Not a big deal for most of us.
