Because they care about their big fat bonuses at the end of the year, more than customer satisfaction or value for money. Welcome to Tim Cook's Apple.

It's not far off from being a reasonable request. It wouldn't be much skin off Apple's nose. But then, it might mean there's like $1m less to give to the execs at the end of the year, and they can't have that - otherwise what would be the point in all this?
Miss him yet?

Because they don't have to include them. People will buy those things anyway. So I am curious....why is Apple charging extra for the equipment to be able to utilize fast charging? You'd think for the price, they would include it. I just cannot wrap my hand around this move?!
I can agree with thatcuz they are north korea of the tec world. Doing whatever they want cuz people will follow and open their wallet anyway.
(I am no exception unfortunately)
People you seem to forget that a public companies number one responsibility is the fiduciary responsibility to it’s investors. Apple is a hugely successful company with a near perfect plan.
Like it or not, that’s simply the way it is.

What if you use one of those Samsung/HTC/OnePlus/Huawei quick charging bricks with the iPhone 8? Will that work?
To my understanding, some of the quick charging blocks from Samsung/etc. use the Qualcomm Quick Charge technology. Apple (and quite recently Google as well) use the USB PD (power delivery) tech. To add to the confusion, some power blocks support both charging methods, so you have to be careful when picking one...Care to elaborate?

If you want to use fast charging with your iPhone 8, you have to get a USB-C to Lightning cable and either an 29W apple power brick, or one of those sold by Anker/Aukey. You might want to check: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/fast-charging.2066638/page-8#post-25166182
