3^2 = 9, 2^2 = 4, 1^1 = 1. Since 4^2 = 16, and pre-orders begin on 3/12 (i.e. 12th of March) and release is on 4/3 and (3/12) * (4/3) = 1/3, I expect a big announcement on 16 * 1/3 = 16/3, i.e. the 16th of March: Adobe Flash will included on all iPads. I further predict that on the 5^2 = 25th of the month Steve Jobs will announce a 5 MegaPixel camera and a videoconferencing app, just to silence all of the doubters.

Quick, someone photoshop this with 941.

It is the time Steve Jobs usually arrives to work at 1 infinite loop.

Was mentioned somewhere on some other forum.

So… I'm the only one who's thinking it could simply be any random time of day chosen by the mockup designer at Apple? :apple:

I thought the same about the time aspect, but how do you explain that email using the numbers "941".

Like I said, I believe they use layers. I rewatched the ad video and if you notice, the iPad doesn't move at all when they are taping or typing. Yes, it's possible for someone to hold it perfectly still, but Apple has more control on reflection and whatever if they do it in layers.

What I mean is that the email he is replying to is xxxxxxxx(can't read it)941@me.com

Speaking of Photoshop, there is no home button in the image. What do you think the commercial model is actually holding?
attachment.php

You know that there IS a home button there, right? It's just hard to see.Tilt your monitor a bit and you can see it.

But it's more than likely they're using a "grip" to hold the iPad, and rotate it.

I also believe most commercials say "Screen images simulated" now-a-days.

Yup, the 'legs' are another layer, added in during post-production.

After seeing this thread yesterday, I was watching TV and I saw the Geico commercial for their iPhone app and it had 9:41 on the iPhone during the entire commercial. Weird...

:p

10:10 is the unofficial, official advertising for analog watches. Look at every Rolex, Tag, or Movado advertisement and you will see that the hands are pointed at 10:10. 10:10 doesn't really look all that great on digital display so my guess is they picked numbers that are more visibly appealing. In typical Apple fashion, I'm sure they researched the effects of numbers on people that's why they chose 9:41 as their marketing time. For all we know there's some kind of subliminal thing going on with the number that's been solely responsible for Apple's success. ;)

I heard that the analog 10:10 was preferred amongst the marketing wonks because the clocks face then resembled a consumer-friendly smile. YMMV.

Shoot.

Everyone knows that the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything, is 6 x 9 = 42.

Math Fail. 6 x 9 = 54.

But I will let this slide since you were just trying to quote HHGTTG (always a +1).

"In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

9:41 or 9:42 is an advertising standard. If you look closely at other commercials you might notice the time is the same. Advertising agencies think this is the best way to show a clocks time. It's clear and concise.

You should continue reading the series. It is indeed:

6 x 9 = 42

:^)

9:41 was the time the original iPhone was launched (or at leas the first image we ever saw of the iPhone was the clownfish screenshot with a time of 9:41)

Ever since then they have kept that time most likely as a tribute to the original iPhone launch which started everything else ;)
