That's the idea - it is so subtle until you take a closer look at it.

And under certain light conditions, like somebody said, it will shine like the new, "IT" iPhone.

In other words, I LOVE IT!

It is a fitting change of color, perfect for iOS 7.

iPhone has white and black for a long time. The new gold one make it looks different and special. That's why people love it more, I think.

Stupid thread

Threads like this are pointless. People like what they like. Does it make you angry, upset, or hurt that Apple wanted to give people another color option and that people actually like it?

because its new?

the white looks the same as last year, the space grey looks very familiar to the black of last year (albeit lighter).

But the gold?
thats different..its a new color, never offered before and I think it looks the best of all 3 colors

I just don't understand? Under certain light it looks like the silver one??? Plus the gold ring around the home button, looks awful!

1. Because they like the way it looks.
2. Because they don't have whatever "certain light" it is you're talking about in their homes.
3. Because they think the gold ring around the home button looks not-awful.
4. Because people have different color preferences than you.
5. Because they want to upset you.

This is a dumb thread, not everyone is getting gold. Why are people like OP so miserable and negative? I don't get it.

I always thought of having an actual real gold iPhone, and this is a start... so that's my reason why. It's a pretty horrible reason though.

I don't care about 'everyone' and what 'everyone' is doing. I do what I want, and accept that other people have differing opinions. I happen to like the gold phone, you don't, big deal, get over it.

Your argument appears to be along the lines of "I don't like X, therefore I can't understand why anyone else would like X". That doesn't work in the real world, now does it.

Except you went all passive-agressive for no reason; he isn't trash talking the phone or people who own one, rather, he has chosen to expand his knowledge and asked the community to help him better understand why.

Like others have said, it's really not that difficult to understand. Not everyone is going to like what you like.

Personally, I traded my space gray for gold. When Apple first announced it I thought it was the dumbest idea ever. When I saw pics I thought it looked great and wanted it immediately.

It's a subtle enough gold to not be flashy but it's prominent enough to stand out if you're paying attention (which I would be since it's my phone). No one asks questions about it or even mentions it when I'm using it which is exactly the way I like it.

Also, as others have said, it does look different based on the lighting. Some people don't like this, but I do. Adds variety and vitality to the look of it.

At the end of the day, it's personal preference. You might think its hideous and that's fine. I think it looks great. The world would suck if everyone held the same opinion about everything.

In fairness, the OP did say that the ring looked "awful". I doubt his main objective was to understand other peoples taste.

Ah Great, you just turned it into one of those threads about white phones for girls, yadda yadda.

Yea. Honestly don't get the notion of color being sexualized. Some colors look feminine to some, yes. Does that mean I can't like it or appreciate it? I like by the pink iPhone 5c. I like the gold iPhone. So what?

Must be a thing with older people though... Girls my age kinda like when a man is comfortable sexually.

i got the silver first , cause I like silver and I like white phones. (don't like black)

I didn't even consider getting gold until I looked at it at the store. i don't have a gold ring either. typically not a fan of the colour. in store it looked cool though :)

all that being said, I'm waiting for gold to come in the mail
LOL :)

I got them because gold and white reflect light pretty well. It keeps the phone cooler even if left out in the sun.
