And the funny thing is...I am seeing more men getting the gold one, than Female! I thought it was being marketed towards the ladies? odd.

Wondering how it was marketed toward ladies? I got the Gold and didn't feel it was marketed toward one particular group. It was a new color option that I wanted to try. I always had black and wanted a change.

People are free to like whatever they like. If it were hot pink there would STILL be straight men buying it saying rubbish like "bbbut pink isn't a girly color! it looks very subdued and classy in person, not womanly at ALL".

And that would be fine, as long as that was THEIR perception.

OTOH, Apple employees did dub the gold the "Kim Kardashian phone", so I don't care how subdued and classy a handful of people on the internet think it is, as that was the similar perception that I had.

Enjoy the girlie phone. It is. But as long as you think it's not, I'm cool with that too :D

Loving the Space Gray, but to each your own, it's your money :apple:

I got it because Apple made the new black model (space gray) uglier than the Slate iPhone 5. Plus I was ready to return to a white iPhone. Then I saw the gold in person at the Apple store and saw how subtle it was and knew that I just had to have it. The gold ring around the home button is a nice touch as well.

And to think I almost started a thread called:

"Why isn't EVERYONE Getting the Gold iPhone 5S?"

Go gold or go home.

I've seen no marketing material for any of the phones that have been gender specific. Kindly provide links to the commercials/ads you've seen that apply a gender bias.

My son and my wife both got the gold phones because they liked the way they looked. It's a very understated color and does look quite classy. I imagine that's why most people make the choice they make: personal preference. Not sure where the mystery is.

I've only ever had white iPhones (aside from a 1 week fling with a black iPhone 5). I just like the way they look more than the black/space gray ones. Having said that, I abhor the gold iPhone and find it to be hideous. White & silver forever!

I just don't understand? Under certain light it looks like the silver one??? Plus the gold ring around the home button, looks awful!

Because silver/white is old. Black/grey is old (sorta). Gold is something new. If people are going to shell out for a new phone, they might as well get something completely new. Easy as that. Unless they really don't like the white face, like me, then they'll stick with black/grey.

I got gold bc I think it looks great. New color, my first white iPhone. No regrets at all. Though, I've never understood why people ask such subjective questions. People just like what they like. Silver and Gold look awesome to me. I've always had a black phone.

I saw the black/space gray ones, and the white/silver iPhones, and find them abhor, and hideous. Yuk, just plain yuk, and want to throw up ;)

Or, you, and I could have posted, I prefer the White & Silver iPhone. Instead of posting like a child would have, by using those words above.

Do you even know the definition of "abhor"? Because you used it completely incorrectly. I said I abhor the gold phone, not that I find them to be "a bore". Go roll your eyes at yourself, before attacking someone for posting their own opinion; especially when that opinion did not attack anyone else directly.

abhor - to detest vehemently; find repugnant; reject

Well I got it b/c I thought it looked badass. Still do. The customers I deal with at my job, also think it looks badass. I also love how it's gold but not an annoying over the top gold. It's more elegant and subtle. I also think it's cool how it changes to almost a silver like color in certain lighting but looks more gold in other lighting. So there ya go

I love my gold. Had a space grey at first and thought it was boring. Returned it and got a silver. Liked it better but nothing compares to the gold. The sides are awesome! Looks like a sand color to me which is sweet. I don't understand these threads that people make, you can tell you want to make the gold owners look bad. But you just make yourself look bad. Everyone has their own opinion, how hard is that to understand? Every week there is some fool making a thread on the gold iPhone to try and make the gold purchasers look bad.

Is anyone actually GETTING gold iPhone 5S'?

My girlfriend ordered hers (AT&T 32gb) about 4-5 days after the start of ordering from Apple.

We still don't have it!
