Videos take forever to load and constantly pause while buffering the video. I loaded the same video on my iPhone 4 and it loaded right away, no pausing or anything. Both devices are on the same wifi network.

IPhone videos load faster because they are of lower resolution. I haven't had problems with the speed of YouTube video downloads. Usually slow YouTube operations are due to server problems and/or ISP or Internet problems.

My youtube is terrible on the router at my parents and perfectly fine on my home router (an old blue cisco). It's is definitely a signal quality issue for me.

You say that, but did you check the network at both your parents and at home using say, Speed Test? If the speed is low then fair enough one might expect YT to perform poorly. But for me, my network performance is the same on all 6 of my household's Apple devices and computers, but the iPad is the only one that shows poor YT playability.

I had a YouTube issue the other day too. Other video elsewhere worked just fine.

Thankfully, I don't use YouTube much these days.

Not that this will help, but I've never seen any jerkyness on my iPad and YouTube.

Having recently upgraded a couple of weeks ago to the new OS on the iPad, and since then never having gone into the YouTube app I thought I'g give it a try in case I also had the same issue, just not noticed yet.

Nope, still smooth as silk.

I went to some 1080p movies (terminator the movie and others) and all play great. Even these best quality ones are downloading the YouTube data at about twice the speed I'm watching the data. So by the time I'm half way through the video clip the whole clips data has been passed to my iPad.

This is over WiFi, and using SpeedTest.net website I get a download speed of around 25mbps to my iPad.

Agreed. No YouTube issues for me either. Must be the Internet service you guys are tapping into. Maybe the issue is over the 3G network because I'm using Wi-Fi and its fine.

Did you miss the part where my iPhone 4 on the same wifi network loads great?

Also, I get 8MB download and 1.5MB upload on my network.

did you miss the part when I and many others have said we have no issues with Youtube at all. So obviously your issue is with your internet connection and not your ipad.

The issue is with the router. I have an Airport at home and Youtube loads fine. At my mother's house, YouTube will stutter and stop loading even though she has a 20MB/s connection that is almost as fast as mine.

I have to agree and say I think it's the router. Even though bandwidth seems fine, I think, for some reason, some routers are the cause of this problem. At least partially.

So you're saying that the iPad is incompatible with certain routers? Because 5 other Apple items work fine on the same router! How can this be?

Btw this iPad has never been jb and the only apps have been purchased through apples store. So if there are any incompatibilities then they should have been caught by apples magical approval process.

If you are running a third party browser, change it's Browser identity to iPhone. Should hurt quality yet fix jerkiness.

Sorry, don't have this issue.

Not much of a YT user, but when I read the thread I checked into it. I just couldn't recreate the issue watching movie trailers, cats playing with iPads, or soldiers in afghanistan dancing to Lady Gaga.:p They all loaded quickly and played smoothly whether in the app or on the mobile site.

What really cracks me up is whenever there's an issue with a Apple product a dozen or so fanboys will proclaim they don't have this issue so it must be user error. Happens every time, in this case the ipad truly sucks when it comes to youtube. This has always been the case, but the fanboys will have you beleive it's your router even though the ipad is the only device having issues.

Just tried to play the new dexter trailer on youtube. Waited a couple of minutes but nothing happened. Went to the html 5 youtube site and it started playing almost instantly.

Go to WI-FI and click on your network. Change your DNS to "208.67.222.222 or 208.67.220.220" This helped make it load faster. It still does stop sometimes but when it's not stopped it will load faster then the video.
My speed is 5.44 Mbps download and 0.90 Mbps upload.

This totally worked for me whether I'm playing it on m.YouTube.com or the YouTube app. I tried this on my iPhone 3GS and compared it to my iPhone 4 and iPad and the 3GS loaded much much faster with no buffering issues what so ever. I use SD Time Warner road runner at home and used their dns for the IP4 and iPad.

Edited: just tried changing DNS on the iPad and watched the same YouTube movie and saw huge improvement over default dns. Just try it and if it doesn't work, it's easy to change it back to default.

Before you start concluding that it's fanboyism, did you even try changing the dns?

Are you using the App or the website?
Because, you should use the App. Go there and create a shortcut for it on your homescreen.

Website > App, x1000

Tried both on all 3 devices (3GS, 4, ipad) and it was only resolved with DNS change.

...

Mobile site is slow as he'll and desktop site is running perfect. Definitely a YouTube problem
