I'm one of the ones who talked about this case in another thread, and I also reviewed it on Amazon. Supposedly they are shipping me 2 new ones (I ordered 2) as soon as they get the cut-outs sorted out.
I sent a polite email to Luvvitt customer service and received a polite reply that I would be receiving a revised case. they expect the revised cast to be available at the end of June.

I did the same and got the same response. Assuming they follow through I'll give them a much better review. The case was exactly what I was looking for.

They don't make Apple silicone back cases for the new standard iPad, only covers (according to Apple's website).
Oh--really? I didn't even check the guy's statement--either I didn't understand what he was saying correctly, or he didn't have a clue what he was talking about.

Did you try to modify the ones you got. I cut a bit off each end and am able to use it now in the meantime. Doesn't look the greatest as my cutting wasn't the straightest, but it works for now. I doubt they will be looking for originals to be returned.

It's crazy that they still list these on amazon as fitting the smart keyboard cover when they know it's not true...

I don't think Apple is going to make a back cover. As someone said earlier, I think the new iPad pouch is the direction Apple is headed.

I am leaning towards getting the new 10.5 pro model. However, the lack of a back cover from Apple, or even an Otterbox case is giving me pause.

I asked them if they wanted it returned; they said they did not. So I proceeded to cut them.

Just a warning: don't buy this back cover! They claim it is compatible with the smart cover and keyboard but the open end for the smart connector DOES NOT FIT! The opening is about a 1/4" to small so your smart cover does not lay flush against the 10.5 "iPad Pro. Plus the corners of the cover do not fit over the corners of the table on that side. You have to cut the plastic away on the side of the cover in order to get the cover to lay flat but the corners won't fit. All openings etc. do fit fine except for the defect. Very disappointed. Last cover I bought from Luvvitt for my 9.7" iPad Pro fit perfectly. I'll use it after cutting it but only until something better comes along.

The crux of the problem is, Apple is too paranoid to release molds for cases early (even though everyone on the planet already knew there would be a 10.5 inch iPad coming).

Another one that looks very well done by i-Blason but available by June 24th:

Saw this but I think it is hard plastic shell, not soft.

Just as a follow-up. Luvvitt contacted me very quickly after I sent them photos of these problems and said they are making corrections and will send me a new cover once the changes are made.

After using the Luvitt back case awhile I've noticed the corners seem a bit cramped for the device as well as the smart cover seems to lay a little too high off the screen b/c of the cases front 'bumpers' for lack of a better word. I'm interested to see if Luvitt fixes all these issues or just the cutout for the Smart Cover / Keyboard.

I think I may just go with the Apple Keyboard (much better than the 9.7 inch version due to key spacing) and a carbon skin for the back. I order stuff from www.icarbons.com. I have been ordering from them for years. Anyway I am very careful with my iPad and have apple care, so I may try to go, super slim this time. Apple Keyboard and a skin.

I used a pair of scissors to trim the area on the side where the Smart Cover attaches. Maybe a quarter inch on each side. I guess Apple increased the size of the attach point length a bit. But after trimming it works fine. They assured me a new one will come automatically the end of June.

They said the same to me. I hope they get it sorted out because I think it's a great back cover.

I could swear the leather Smart Cover was the only thing announced the day the 10.5 was announced. It wasn't until a couple of days later that the silicon Smart Cover was on their site. If that's true then maybe we'll see a back Cover eventually.

Apple Smart Cases?
Yep. I had told him that I had just purchased a 9.7 pro a few weeks ago and that I sold it to buy the new 10.5, but I liked that they had a back case. He said "Oh, don't worry we'll have some in a few weeks." So I don't know if that's the Apple one or some third party ones. Again, I'd take it with a grain of salt.
