Why no official cases for the XR? [MERGED]

It’s called a discussion. Wasn’t looking for Ebok’s dissertation on Apple’s TPU supplier.

Anyway there were rumors that Apple would release their own transparent case for $40 but at that price point they were right to not even bother.
Cheaper. But I want a sweet case with an Apple logo! I actually love the quality of the leather Apple cases. Well just the saddle brown leather case.
I asked an Apple employee while I was at the Apple store today. He said because, Apple wants us to show off the colors. Believe it or not. Apple does offer a few 3rd party cases for $40.
That is such a stupid answer. You make the cases in the same colors as the phones.
This is the first time in a while that I have not seen an Apple branded case for their phone launch. But memory is hard to come by sometimes. I like the Apple cases, as they seem to fit a little better and don’t add so much bulk. Ultimately I wish the phones were more durable and didn’t require a case. Naked phone is the way to go, especially with the XR, so lately I’m trying the Neil Degrasse Tyson phone trick I saw on Joe Rogan’s podcast:

Theres no official case for the Xr because its not Apples flagship phone, so they don't care about it.
When flagship phones become ex-flagships, Apple also stops releasing cases for it, see the X eg, that ones Apple Silicone/Leather case has been removed altogether from the Apple Store.

Um...because the X can fit in the XS case. Apple still sells cases for the 7 and 8 and that is not their flagship phone.
Not perfectly no and Apple officially doesn’t advertise compatibility for this reason. It looks off if you look closely at it. As the 7 and 8 that may be the case, but you’ll also notice they weren’t updated with the new case colours either
I predict that Apple’s cases for the XR will be here soon. No way Apple decided not to do cases for the XR, too much money to be made. Just give Apple a few weeks at the most and they will offer their cases.
Think it will be announced Tuesday or surface on the site?
Weird they have a clear case on Canada Xr Promo or whatever but nowhere to be seen

Agreed, people need to keep an eye out on Apple’s site, think they will just appear.
It’s also possible they ditched it because they feel it’s too pretty for a case even if translucent and don’t wanna do the silicone/leather route again .. and/or they don’t wanna deal with constant replacements of tpu
I doubt apple solves the yellowing problem
