i cant wait for the pre or another webOS device to hit AT&T

i would also like to see a few android devices get pulled on AT&T to really beef up the competition with the iPhone.

Pre will come to ATT and Verizon in 2010. Android devices are coming as well, although I forget the names. The good thing about android is that you can put it on just about anything you want.

i have seen the rumored shots of the lancaster, and the Eos. they cant come soon enough.

The thing that kills the lancaster for me is the screen size. I'd much rather have a touch pro 2 and hack it for android. If the touch hd had come to the us, I may have gotten one of those and hacked it for android instead of my iphone 3g

I dont no why people hate ATT so much. I live outside of Cleveland, Ohio and i always have 4-5 maybe 3 sometimes all the time unless im in my basement. I have never had a dropped call ever in my 10+ years on ATT.

Opposite for me... Every place I need my phone it seems I can not get signal. I cant get it in my own house, cant get it at work, cant get it at my uncles where I watch his house.

Everytime I want to show someone a cool app or beat someone to the punch with my phone, it has crappy service or craps out.

I live right outside Cleveland, Ohio to. I drop calls all the time its ridiculous

Three reasons:

1. Some people prefer a physical keyboard.

2. The total cost of ownership is significantly lower with A Pre

3. Sprint has a better high speed data network then AT&T.

No single phone/carrier combination is perfect for everyone. I think it's nice to have options.

i have to be honest...

the biggest reason wouldnt buy a PRE is cause i hate using 3rd party software to sync it...ie - mising sync...

other than that ... i would totally try a PRE!!!

I love the iPhone..and i think its great...

BUT...

I HATE ATT!!!

i had sprint for 6 years prior to having my iPhone and it was great.

i wish att had the pricing that spring does...my iphone bill and my blackberry bill are awful...

hopefully att will get it with NO VASALINE one day!!!

You on the east or west side of Cleveland. I live in Fairview Park and according to AT&T chart we have the best quality of 3G and service unless you in the metro parks.

I have 3 bars right now. If i go into my family room i have 5. Wierd

The biggest gripe about the pre seems to be the keyboard and the network, I think he palm eos will be better keyboard I think it has touch too, it is more dangerous to iPhone I think

I've used Palm products since Handspring Visors, Sony Clie' right up through the Treo 755P, so I've seen the ups and downs on the hardware and software side. I have also spent a decent amount of time on iPhone. Each platform has it "clear winner" points.

- I will say that I find one hand operation of the Treo's screen, keyboard and cursor device easier than trying to one hand an iPhone.

- As I've mentioned before in another thread, it's also handy to have a user changeable battery so that I don't have to carry charging cables when travelling or doing a lot of BT syncing with handsfree device or external keyboard.

- There was a robust community of app developers, but it'll be wait and see for the Pre's new OS. I suspect that where's there's money to be made, it's like "Field of Dreams" . . . if you build it, they will come.

I have had the Storm, and now I have the iPhone 3G soon to get the 3GS bc Bestbuy is allowing me to return my 3G in exchange next Friday for the 3GS, so not an issue.

The Storm sucks, but it is the only option on Verizon, and the Pre is on Sprint for now, but for all the iPhone/Apple haters they will all think positive about the Storm's and Pre's.

We are kinda Bias on this site because we all use and love Apple products, but I know a lot of ppl who hate ATT and Apple and will never cave in, and will continue with Verizon, or Sprint.

Kind of ironic that eventually Sprint and Verizon will be on the GSM networks when CDMA or EVDO goes away in the next 2-3 years if it lasts that long.

The new iPhone 3GS with 16GB is a good price for what you get, so Apple did well on marketing, however ATT needs to get their crap together because they should have had MMS and Tethering ready way before the WWDC.

I am not sure I am going to stay with ATT because of the poor service, and I may just return my iPhone but whatever I decide to do, I will not have the iPhone option on Sprint or VZ, so I either get a crappy phone or just a basic phone and keep my 16GB 2G iTouch.:(

Works for me either way:D

Why indeed?

For $100 more than the Pre you could get a 32GB SDHC card and have 40GB of storage on the phone. Just sayin'.

The Pre is a fine phone, and a great choice for folks on Sprint or who, for whatever reason, don't want an iPhone. Quit being such a fanboy.

no..... the memory is fixed at 8.... no room for sdhc.....

There will likely be fewer Palm Pre owners who will howl and whine when the Pre 2.0 comes out . . . if Palm survives . . . ;)

Ha! I think the Pre will be enough to keep Palm around long enough to release more WebOS devices and when that happens, Palm will definitely be in good shape. However, I don't think Apple will be recommending the Pre or other WebOS devices like they were with the Palm Pilot. I wonder why . . .:D

Dude, do you have the latest firmware for the iphone. It sounds to me like you have not upgraded to latest firmware. If so, why haven't you gone to AT&T or Apple store to check it out??

I know plenty of people who would like an iPhone. I know 4 people with one.

I'll find the UK plans for the Pre an interesting comparison.

Damn!

I've been on the fence of both the Pre and iPhone. I'm currently a Sprint customer and have been for almost 7 years now. I don't have any loyalty whatsoever (my contract was up last year and I'm going month to month). I've been WAITING for something great to come along and tear me away. The iPhone was going to be it until I learned Apple chose ATT.

The reason why most people choose the Pre over the iPhone is simply the network.

Many replies in this thread (and others) have been about how great the iPhone is... I'm sure it is (I love Apple). There are a few people I work with who love it. But if you want a phone that can make and receive calls 90% of the time, then go with... well, not ATT. My co-workers and several other posters here abhor ATT.

The only issues I have with Sprint are: bad previous customer service experience, fluctuating bars when at my parents house. Other than that, I'll be paying $75/month for the Pre, and $100/month for the iPhone.

They also have a faster 3G network than ATT. So people saying that Sprints network sucks... I'd love to see specifics.

Location, location, location

Carrier quality. It always depends on your location. If AT&T is lousy in your area where you live and work, then the iPhone is not for you.

I love how people throw multitasking out there, I mean how many damn things do you plan to do at once on your phone, and what is so wrong with closing one thing and starting another when it's fast?

Not to mention the Pre only comes in 8GB, what is up with that??
