I am trying to locate my iPad 2 wifi. My wife threw it away yesterday. If its still powered and sending out a wifi signal. Is there a way to "find" it? I have a airport extreme, but I haven't found a way to see its device ID in the logs. Any advice is nice since the trash man comes tomorrow to empty the dumpster.

Luke

Why in the world would your wife throw an iPad in the dumpster? This just doesn't sound right...

I call BS. OP says, "wife likes a clean house... she cleaned my room and threw it out mistakenly."

"My room" What are you, twelve?

Now that's a good beginning for an anecdote to be telling your friends at Christmas...

You sleep in a different room from your wife? In a different bed? Really? :p

Lucky thing everybody here who had nasty things to say about the OP's wife is perfect and never did anything thoughtless or careless.

Always nice to crap on someone for making a mistake. Especially when you don't know the person or the circumstances.

Anonymity is a wonderful thing.

I was not crapping on him. I was simply asking if she was hot. If she is hot it would be much easier for him to forgive her and not get mad. Simple trying to help. :)

I wish there was a way to see all devices near me that are putting out a wifi signal...

No you don't. That would be a privacy and security nightmare. A criminal could then cruise a neighborhood, see all the wifi devices around, then break in and steal them.

If she isn't really into tech and sees an iPad with a cracked screen, she just might have assumed that it was just broken. I don't know why that would be braindead.

I doubt this is fake. If the OP meant "my mom," I doubt he would be consistent with his lies. Looked into his previous posts, and found this (see what I bolded):

I got the beta yesterday. I set my alarm clock for a 4am wake up. It didn't ring. It still says set. How do a submit the bug to Apple?

I missed my flight due to oversleeping. Luckly my wife called and woke me up and I could make the next one!

What, are you 12? Just because you don't have a room doesn't mean that other adults don't have their own room.

It's amazing how many forum users can't even imagine that others may live differently, have different preferences, etc. There's much more to the world than just what you're familiar with. Most of us figure this out early on.

It's certainly possible for someone to unintentionally throw something out that's important to the other. Again, think beyond your own perspective. If I went on a cleaning rampage through my wife's stuff I'd most certainly toss out stuff that I didn't think important that she would. Granted, I wouldn't just throw out her stuff but the OP's wife is clearly different.
