I think I'll call Rush Limbaugh and tell him my macbook pro got stolen... Maybe he'll have mercy on me unlike you guys and give me a new macbook pro!

Lucky thing everybody here who had nasty things to say about the OP's wife is perfect and never did anything thoughtless or careless.

Always nice to crap on someone for making a mistake. Especially when you don't know the person or the circumstances.

Anonymity is a wonderful thing.

Yeah this would apply in most situations, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say most people in this thread have never done anything as "thoughtless or careless" as throwing out an iPad. I mean, it's heavy, oddly shaped and generally something that's hard to miss.

I'm all for being a white knight and what not if it makes you feel better, but sometimes you just gotta call 'em like you see 'em :p. BUT -since it was stolen, that changes everything. Now we get to make fun of OP for poor home security. Ahem;

HEY LUKENORRIS, NICE LOCKS ON YOUR DOORS, DO THEY COME IN MENS?!

For many years Rush Limbaugh was a harsh, judgmental conservative commentator on American TV who frequently lashed out at other people. In this context, the OP is using sarcasm to make a point by saying that Rush Limbaugh would show him much more kindness and sympathy than the posters on this thread.:D

Why is this written in the past tense? Rush has become a frighteningly rotund, drugged-up (hydrocodone), curmudgeon whose increasingly vitriolic diatribes still (somehow) attract an audience.

You would think that Rush would have some sympathy/empathy after his struggle with drug addiction, hearing loss, and other issues. But, you'd be wrong! Rather tragic, to be honest, because he is an intelligent guy who I actually used to find quite compelling (back in the 90s).

Anyhow, perhaps if I had "professionals" break into my house, pass up my several-thousand dollar macbook, steal my ipad with the broken screen, and then come back again to get the laptop later, leaving behind their "professional" tools, I would have more sympathy/empathy for the OP. Did I get the story right?

Anyhow, it just sounds rather odd and unbelievable. If it is true, I am sorry to hear it. If not, this is kind of a sad troll thread, and I encourage you to produce something more exciting next time.

It turns out... the iPad 2 along with my macbook pro 17 were stolen. Someone broke into our house twice over the weekend and got a few high dollar items plus a few others. I thought it was my wife because she loves a clean out... "Jesus could come back and see her house in shambles and would be judged for it... " I know tell me about it! Another story for another day...

I am hoping my business insurance will cover the items at replacement cost. I might just keep the money until after the next macbook pro refresh...

Unlucky for me... iCloud can't see my devices... so I am lost... I did have lojack on the macbook... but nothing yet.

Luke

File a police report. Check into your home insurance that might cover your loss. On your taxes (with the police report) you can deduct the value of stolen items if your insurance will not make the loss whole.

I live in Northern Canada and I haven't seen him for a few years, so I assumed one of his many vices had caught up with him.

I don't know what to think of the situation the OP describes, but I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. My spouse did once throw out a box of no-longer-manufactured computer parts that I had been keeping for years...

wife likes a clean house... she cleaned my room and threw it out mistakenly. The iPad had a cracked screen and I was set to replace it tonight. looking for it... its not around. its not set up for tracking because I was going to gift it to dad for christmas.

I have the device ID of it because I am set up for iOS developer. I wish there was a way to see all devices near me that are putting out a wifi signal. Maybe it got moved and is under something.

My reply is pointless, but shouldn't it read she cleaned our room? Or is this an office or gaming den we are talking about?

Go to www.icloud.com and try "find my iPhone". It not only will show you where your iPhone is but all of your apple stuff will show up. Still don't know how it locates my mbp that only has wifi.

It's a good thing Apple tracks everyone's devices.

Just ring them up, I'm sure they can tell you within 0.5 mm of it's exact location. Ha ...Ha ...

After realizing that I forgot to unsubscribe to this farce of a thread, I decided that I will post one final response. This story is utter rubbish and not remotely believable. The OP was bored and decided to create a thread to see how many would take the bait and offer help.

Unsubscribing now..... Bury this thread....

AMEN!
I've been following this thread on and off and I completely agree. Someone has far too much time on their hands! Next it will be, "my dog ran off with my iPad and buried it"or something as outlandish. (See how easy it is to make one up!)

Hey everyone, recently I sat down, felt a tremendous pain in my butt, and now I can't find my iPhone. Can anyone help me? Do you think "find my iPhone" will work?

So did she throw it out or is it possibly under something?

In years to come people may dispose of Ipads like old tv's but seems unusual at the moment.

Even broken Ipods or Ipads would sell on ebay or easy fixed by Apple for a fee. Plus they are like the must have gadget so even more unusual thread.

Give the broken iPad for dad for Christmas... ? Wow I think you deserve this

Now, now... people should really "read" before commenting... He said he was going to replace the screen the night it was M.I.A..

True but then he also said it wasn't set up with location because he was giving it to his dad for Christmas. There's a lot of holes in the story.

Guys, yesterday when I was cleaning my room, I accidentally threw away my wife. I have no idea how to find her.

Turns out I have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. :D
