I'm no longer having wifi issues with the new GM build.
Great! Can't wait to try!

However, reading some articles, it really seems that the delay of the official version is due to the WiFi issue.

Everything I've read (especially TUAW) points to the wifi issue for the delay of 4.2.

Good, I hope its true. Apple did a good thing.

Fixed it. Knock on wood

I'm no longer having wifi issues with the new GM build.

I've been running the new build for about 40 minutes. Surfing, Pandora, apps, all working with no wifi stalling. So far, this build is looking promising!

is there any link to download the new ipad GM 2 and install it the same way that beta 1 or 2?

ps. i know that it's only for developers, but maybe someone posted it somewhere and we can download it and install on the ipad :D

thanks!

go to gumball tech and get it just like the original GM. Google it

I'm glad it's working for everyone. I really wish we could figure out WHY the first GM didn't make problems for everyone (me included), but I still intend to restore to the new GM build for when I'm not at home. Don't want to risk it. :)

Mute button does not work!

Now, the button that was orientation lock, and is mute button in new iOS 4.2 gm b DOES NOT WORK!

Anyone else having the same problem?

The new GM build works fine here.

Regarding the mute switch, it doesn't work for videos and music, afaict. But for notifications, games, etc, it works fine. I think this is an intended function.

I was having terrible connectivity with the last GM, but this one has been flawless so far in 10ish hours of use. Very happy!!

how do you guys get your feedback to apple? is there a forum or something where you and other developers can see eachother's feedback? does the wifi problem seem to be a widespread issue to many testers?

That's so weird because the 2nd GM was WAY worse for me than the 1st GM (which was bad enough). I really couldn't connect long enough to use my iPad with the 2nd one. If they release it like it is I won't be the only one with major problems and they'll eventually fix it. Or maybe not. I have no faith in Apple.

Did you upgrade or restore?

I had a small issue with GM2 with wifi connectivity, solved by turning "ask to join networks" off. In the interests of science LOL I have tried a couple of free solitaire games which both crash on GM2 but that could just be because they need updating, only time will tell..........

GM 2.1 released (IOS 4.2.1GM)

Apple have just released another GM, which I'm downloading now :)

This does however mean another delay for those of you patient enough to wait........

New?

I suppose the day depends on where you are in the world:) It wasn't out when I left work for the evening and it was when I arrived in the morning.

BTW it works fine and only one of the games apps crashes now..........

I upgraded to the 4.2.1 gm and get all sorts of issues with my wifi now. I went to this thread in fact and when i clicked the reply button it timed out (just like it does periodically with all sorts of other sites). I had to turn airplane on/off and the pages will load again just fine. I upgraded to 4.2.1 after being on the stock 3.2.2 which had been working flawless for me.

I don't think this has been fixed yet...

I read that the delay was due to wifi problems. Well it was finally released yesterday and after upgrading my 32G Wifi running 3.2.2, I am now having wifi problems.

The wifi works great but as soon as I put the ipad to sleep and immediately wake it up, the wifi connection is gone and does not reconnect automatically. I have to go back into settings and select the wifi hotspot again.

I verified that I am now running 4.2.1. Here's hoping 4.2.2 comes out soon.

I've encountered similar problems, where putting it to sleep seems to halt the wifi connection, but in my case, I have to completely power off the iPad and turn it back on for the wifi connection to be restored.
