Anyone else notice the folders glitch too? Sometimes when opening a folder and closing it the color of the arrow going to close the folder will be blue when it should blend with the background. Its sort of hard to describe but if anyone else has seen this graphical glitch let me know. I've seen it since beta 1 but this wifi problem has creeped up for me too.

Rumor has it that the 4.2 release that was slated for tomorrow now has been delayed: http://www.macstories.net/news/ios-...d-wifi-issues-new-gm-build-coming/#more-13544

We'll most likely be getting one more GM build and hopefully THEN the final 4.2. I haven't experienced the wifi issue on my 32gb 3G iPad, but lots of people have.

Guess the wifi polls and all those complaining here of wifi problems with the GM version was not "exaggerated" as some said here.. I'm glad they are delaying the release until all is right with it, nice call Apple..
Think we'll see another GM before the final is released?

Connectivity issues with iPad

What helped with me was to disable WiFi when using 3G and to disable 3G when using wifi. I think that they both compete for the connection so neither work right when both enabled at the same time. There needs to be a setting for the user to make one or the other the priority connection, usually wifi, but it needs to be able to make that choice itself without both trying to fight for the connection.

Has this worked for anyone elses issue?

I've been experiencing this bug since Day 1 with the iOs 4.2 GM on my WiFi iPad. I believe the bug has something to do with Airplay.

1. Play a song in the iPod app, I tried it with other apps too.
2. Switch the output of the song to the Apple TV using the Airplay button
3. Switch the output back to the iPad
4. Launch mobile safari and try to load a page. It should time out.
5. Try switching your output back to the Apple TV, nada.

I've documented the bug with a video on my site here:

Just thought I'd add that iOS 4.2GM has worked flawlessly on my 3G iPad with regards to wifi performance. Watched many episodes of TV over AirVideo with no issues. Air video needs very stable wifi performance.

I really do wonder how much testing Apple does with 3rd party routers. I'm using a latest gen Time Capsule. Anyone having trouble using an Apple router?

Airplane mode

I found that every now and then my iPad's Internet would slow down or stop.
Flicking the airplane mode switch in the settings would fix it for 3-4 hours

I had this problem on the last firmware and fixed it and had it yet again when I updated to 4.2GM

For me at least the problem is to do with the Ask to join networks option which defaults to on when you update the ios.

I had terrible problems when I updated to GM literally being kicked off the net every five minutes despite a full wifi signal?

After an hour of resetting the wifi my memory kicked in that I had been here before and I simply slid the tab to off and the problem was sorted

Please try this and let me know if this works for you too?

Yes, I am using the latest gen airport extreme and having wifi issues. While, it doesn't kick me off wifi, it is extremely slow (<1/10 the speed of 3.2)

My modem came up with a warning on my pc about my iPad accessing multiple channels at once with too many programs, after clicking resolve the problem (and presumably having the problem fixed) I have not had a single drop out from my wifi. I wish I had thought to screenie the warning :(

Air Video can stream over Edge cellular speeds, it doesn't need stable jack squat, just a connection!

Definitely not exaggerated, if you have the problem it's very real.

It's just inconsistent and hard to track down. But there were plenty of developers on Apple's forums with the issue filing bug reports, so that might have something to do with it. Will try it later.

What I really hate is that I didn't renew my dev account with Apple, so I just did that now and I got the Activation Code from Apple to enroll, but it didn't work! I had to contact support and now I am waiting for enrollment..
I don't want to use torrents...
