I have a really good feeling about this game - it's been said this will be the Mario Galaxy of Sonic games - that may be hype, but there is a lot of positive press about this latest installment. A reboot of sorts - in a good way

Have you played some of the Wii Sonic games? Colours for example? I just loved the early 2d platform Sonic games. But, well, maybe Lost World works out just fine, I'll give it a shot of course. But no Dr Robotnick? Here's hoping.

Yea I know that the recent Sonic games have been terrible, but this time I have a feeling they are getting help from Nintendo developers or at the very least have a bit more direction from the Nintendo folks.

I hope I'm right, but I could be very wrong

Yea I haven't played Sonic since I had the Genesis - loved Sonic and Knuckles - probably my favorite.

I've heard bad things about recent Sonic games so I'm hopeful this changes things

Thought this may be good to post here - Nintendo has confirmed what cities the Best Buy demo stations will be at during E3!

My closest one is an hour and 10 minutes away down in the Boston area - will probably take a drive especially if there is 3D Mario for Wii U on the systems!

Yup, those were the days *feels kinda old*

just saw some youtube vids and it appears as if Sonic Generations comes quite close to the old gaming style i. e. fastest rollercoaster around. But not available on the Wii, oh jeez...I'd totally buy that!

Not sure how I think about this:

Just saw at Amazon that there is a plethora of 3d Sonic games available. Is there a strictly 2d version available for the Wii? I know there were 3d special sections already in the very early games at hand, but really not sure if this gets back the good ol' Sonic feeling for me. Hopefully a VC would do for me..

Seems like a 3D Sonic game more along a set course a la Dreamcast... :)

Looking forward to it - seems like there are a few creative cues from Ubisoft's Rayman? ;)

Just got Mass Effect 3 for Wii U on sale for $30 (PS3/XB360 versions are going for $20) - looking forward to playing it.

The Wii U will be a great lower-price oriented gaming machine come this fall with a price drop and older games coming in at $20 - $30. Hopefully, the extreme console games will be available for both Wii U and PS4 (without DRM if Sony chooses that route).

Looks like Halo and all XBox One games from here on out will be heavily DRM'd...

You know the news is dismal for a console when people are looking forward to another processed Sonic game nearly a year after the console has been released...

The WiiU lacks software, namely first party software that has sold their hardware so well over the past.

After I beat NSMBU I bought Sonic Transformed, while it was fun it got repetitive over time. Then I bought Lego City which was great fun for a while but ultimately now the WiiU is sitting and collecting dust. Nintendo clearly released the WiiU too soon, theres no software, great Pikmin 3 comes out in August if its not delayed, theres software that was supposed to be in the launch window coming out nearly a year later, and theres really no large AAA titles even on the horizon for it.

I'm tempted to sell my WiiU and just rebuy it if real software comes out for it. Nintendo failed big time with the WiiU, they should know by now how fickle this industry is, but they thought they could ride the wave of the last box and failed.

I think their strategy is genius - release a console when the others are still far off, and give time for developers to learn the console and come out with great games, and have older games offered at lowered prices.

Lower the price of your console when the others arrive and release great 1st and 3rd party games at that time.

Yes, Sony and MS die hard console fans will be willing to fork out $500 and $70 for the latest games and put up with the DRM.

But, for the average person looking for the latest games this holiday season and see the Wii U at half the price plus games around $40 - $50 plus no internet and no account required and the ability to use older games and controllers, Nintendo will still be the one that people will respect.

Last I checked games were $59.99 when released, that point is moot. If having horrible sales is your idea of genius then I'll be glad you don't run a company.

Nintendo is doing everything and anything they can do to kill themselves this time around. Not sure what rock you've been under to miss this as its quite apparent.

What he means is that with a year of games being released - by the holiday season you'll have a fair amount of games at that lower price point along with the newer games at the standard $60 price point.

The Wii U being compared to pricing of the PS3/360 is casting it in poor light. Once the new consoles come out the pricing will show how perfect it is. There are plenty of games on the Wii U, it needs more but I've gotten plenty of playtime since owning it for a few months now.

The variety is also great there are FPS, Platformers, Puzzles, Racing, etc. There is a game for most gamers.

I think most people out there are way too critical of the Wii U. Sure it needs more games, but every new system will have that same problem. The PS4 and X1 will have even more of an issue without backwards compatibility.

The second half of 2013 is going to be an amazing time for Wii U games - 2014 will be even better - it is on a great path and look forward to see what Wii U is like in a few years.

Depends on the perspective me thinks. I have actually too many games to play seriously.

@ MacRumorUser: 007 Legends finally dropped in price and made it into my shopping basket. Will let you know how it works out when I finally got it. Shame they didn't make it off-tvable.

Especially in today's world were BestBuy price matches online retailers like Amazon. It is very easy to get great prices on games no matter what website they are on. I've had games slashed 75 percent off BestBuy prices.

There are some games that I'll pay the $60, but more often than not I'll find them cheaper.

It was also a great move that Sonic Racing started at $40 - that is a great price for an amazing cart racing game.

Good heavens that Sonic game!

I haven't enjoyed the ones I was supposed to enjoy (Sonic Rush, Generations), but this one looks like Mario Galaxy with slower gameplay = perfect! Everything about that video is wonderful.

Problem with new Sonic games (even in Generations) is that they just made everything fast. Zero gameplay mechanics at a thousand miles an hour doesn't make a good game.

That's how I always experienced Sonic games, on my Master System as well as on the Genesis, super fast rollercoaster. I'd prefer it not being Mario speed like. Also, I never played it myself, but the level design looks more like some generic Minecraft. Generations looks gorgeous to me, such a pity it wasn't released for the Wii so I can't play it on the U.

The older Sonic's weren't rollercoasters. They were all "normal" speed until you hit a horizontal spring or big hill, and they weren't everywhere, the pacing was excellent. Ever since Sonic Advance 2 Sega have been obsessed with making it go as fast as possible with as little gameplay as possible.

This looks more in style with classic Sonic than Generation's own classic levels does. Which kinda awful to control - way too much stop-start-stop-start.

Minecraft... really?

True about those bumpers, now I remember. As I said, haven't played or followed any of those past Genesis, that's what 15 years ago? But Youtube suggests imho Generations comes as close as possible compared to what is available for the Wii. But I'd appreciate if you could recommend me an other title.

And yeah, the parcour of the Lost World trailer looks to me like it's somewhere lost in space. But hey, I haven't played it. On the contrary, I hope it will be fine! :)

Generations feels like someone just took both the new Sonic and old Sonic, and handed them to a different company. They don't feel like either. I found it a bit of a mess and played more like a buffet marketing test (lots of ideas just thrown in, whatever people like we'll build our next game around), but then again I'm really picky about stuff like this!

Everyone else loves Generations though.

Recommendations? Sonic Mega Drive games (playable on almost all consoles in one form or another), Sonic Advance games. I haven't played a 3D Sonic that I've enjoyed enough to finish.

What do you mean by Mega Drive games - playable on almost all consoles?? I need to have a Mega Drive to play it, don't I?! Am I missing something?

And Sonic Advance are Game Boy exclusives I assume...don't feel like buying a handheld / console to play Sonic. Such a pity, it seems like there are about 5 Sonic games available for the Wii, yet they're all 3Ds. :(

So fingers crossed Lost Worlds makes up for it!

.

Nope.. I thought it was pants.

3D sections were awful as ever (seriously has only the first Sonic Adventure managed to be the only 3D Sonic that's 'passable' )

2D Sections were poor in both level design, enemy placement, and the general ebb & flw of the old 2D sonics wasn't there.

I just fail to see the appeal in Sonic in this generation (though Sonic racing transformed was good) as the hits have been so few compared to the misses... Nostalgia is only good for some things, but there is a whole generation of gamers who have only ever experienced the **** sonic games....

So good news for those that want to use the Pro Controller in New Super Mario Bros U - a patch is coming from Nintendo along with the ability to buy the DLC within the game and not having to go to the eShop for that.

Pretty cool - big fan of the Pro Controller - even though I love using the GamePad

Jeez, should have made that announcement 7 days earlier, or wait, some months ago, no wait, include it right from start.

Sure - that'd be great, but its coming rather soon - I'd imagine the disc version of Luigi will support the Pro Controller

Of course it's better than nothing, but I just spent 100€ on to Wiimotes which I only need for: Super Mario. :D

How are your Touchpads working? Any complains? If they end up like the N64 ones, I'll develop some doubts re off-tv.
