Gotcha - there may be some more SM2 inspirations in the game not yet shown off - they are using the characters. Donkey Kong is using the pull up roots from the ground gameplay - I'd imagine there are more influences in the new Mario game.

The WiiFit Trainer should be fun - interesting to see the Wii brand in Super Smash - most anxious to play as Animal Crossing character - hooked on that game now!

I was going to wait until the new Mario Kart was coming out. Now, it's Mario Kart 8, but I didn't know that in January.

My wife kind've pushed me toward sooner than I wanted, but it was worth it. Sold back my PS3 and ALL my PS stuff, haven't looked back yet. Granted, not a lot of games, but it's a EXCELLENT system. Best one I've used in years!

Getting one now would be an excellent idea since they made all these announcements at E3.

Remember there's Backwards Compatibility with Wii games (did I just say the "BC" word? :eek:). It works great!

I'm actually using it as my launch day Wii is in pristine condition so it is going back into the box (to be MCIB - Mint Complete In Box) as Nintendo games and systems are actually worth money in the collectible videogame market.
 
Yea I never owned a Wii - so for me it was like buying 2 systems in 1!

That was a major selling feature of mine. Really enjoying the Mario Galaxy Series. The Wii Sports games are great as are all of the fitness games. Plus having that huge VC available is really nice.

So having BC is really big for me I play both Wii U and Wii games almost everyday.

There are some really great Wii games - it was really smart for Nintendo to support the old accessories too - it is wonderful using the SNES Wii Controller for VC titles on the Wii U.

I think when people go out to get PS4 or X1 will be disappointed for multiplayer experiences they need to buy 3 or 4 controllers - with Wii U many already have those.
 
I will be buying these games for my wii u most definitely: Sonic list worlds, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D world, Mario Kart 8, super smash bros and Rayman Legends bring em on this is excluding my PS4 lineup but that's for another thread :p

Have you played the Rayman Legends demo on Wii U? Great and gorgeous game, but in tryng to incorporate the Touchpad screen, you have to look down on it to do some moves. I am not thrilled.

Maybe they can incorporate the moves on the PS4 touchpad so you won't have to look down...

Yep, that's how I see it, too. It wasn't challenging either, but not really sure how representable the demo was. Kind of a let down since it looks indeed gorgeous. Right now, regarding platformers, everything compared to DonkeyKong looks kind of stale to me. They did an incredible job!

Not sure about the Luigi DLC. Anyone's going to download it? It's only three days left and my fingers getting itchy - just finished Mario singleplayer mode and run through the challenges. (2 remarks: why isn't it possible to play a campaign with Toad? - Why aren't the penguin and helicopter suit included somewhere in the campaign, they're absolutely awesome!)

I haven't had a chance as yet, can you still use the wii remote and nunchuks on any of the new Wii U titles like Super Mario 3d world, Donkey Kong, Zelda Wind Waker.

Donkey Kong is a definite yes. SM 3D World has it for multiplayer unclear about P1 - Mario Kart 8 has Wii Wheel control or GamePad
 
Very much so - kinda hilarious - I am so excited for the Wii U releases this year.

Luigi U will be downloading tonight! - Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, WindWaker HD, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost World - so many fantastic games coming very soon - all of these are super exciting releases that I'll be getting day 1.

2014 will be an even better year for releases - can't wait for Smash Bros!
 
I will probably buy a WiiU for Super Smash Bros WiiU. No other game so far as sparked my interest. Possibly Skyward Sword as well, I don't own that. But that is a Wii game. And I can play the GC games I own on the Mac. So I can box up the Wii and just use the WiiU for Wii + WiiU games and the Mac for GC games.

I have bought a WiiU classic controller to USB adapter to play the GC games on the Mac. Will arrive to me in probably two weeks.

[edit] Wii fit trainer in SSB WiiU is a really what the **** move. Well it's just as funny as the Pichu and Mr Game&Watch in the previous SSB games.
 
Downloaded Luigi expansion pack or whatever its called for the u yesterday. Only played three courses with my son but I can tell its worth the money already. Levels are timed for quick play and its fun to play a great game again, only a little differently..

Yea I got it yesterday too - installation was quick and easy - glad it doesn't take too much room on the solid state drive.

I dig this new experience with the game - the short rush to the end design makes it easier to hop into the game for quick experiences or get through worlds in longer experiences. I'll be returning to old levels to find those star coins.

The value is amazing - this is a full game with an entirely new experience - I can easily see myself spending 20 hours in Luigi U - for $20 or $30 this is a steal! Will certainly hold me over until Pikmin, W101, and the avalanche of games coming this year arrive.

This is DLC done right - hate paying $5 for a character or something frivolous

My download kept pausing and I was too stupid to open up the download manager so I kept restarting the software. I was getting all impatient like a child through it all until I reminded myself that Im getting a new game instantly throught the interwebs! When I was a kid, we had to go to a store...

Haha - it took me 30 minutes to start playing - that included updating NSMBU, buying Luigi U and installing that DLC - not too shabby - just let it run while playing Animal Crossing New Leaf.
 
Super Luigi is ace! I hope we get more crazy, left-field ideas like this and Blood Dragon in the coming years.
 
Aw chucks! Thought I pass and just go for the retail version a month later...but after all these posts: starting to dl now :D

Read somewhere Penguin Suit and Helicopter Helmet are back. AWESOME! :D
 
Yep. Man, that took me all by surprise! Can't get past second castle..:eek: :D

Also, Luigi is 180° different to play than in the 'main' Mario U game.
 
I'll be waiting and getting the disc version. Normally I'd go for the DLC, but I'm not happy with Nintendo's policy of locking content to the hardware, instead of your account.

That's what I was thinking first. But since Wii U sells so badly, I can get the retail version (with its nice coverwork) always later on. :D
 
Sounds like the WiiU is worth it....
I just got a 3DSXL and selling the Vita and PS3. Nintendo just seems to be fun. Anyone know of any deals on a wiiU?
