I did not have a wii before getting the wii u. are there any good mature games for the wii that I might have missed? not really interested in mario, etc.

The Conduit 1 & 2 are favs of mine.

Metroid Prime 3 (Metroid Prime Trilogy is available as a reprint from Gamestop right now which includes 1 & 2 & 3).

I would recommend The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Xenoblade Chronicles (if you can nab a copy), and The Last Story. Other "mature" games that are supposed to be amazing but I haven't tried are Dead Space: Extraction, Resident Evil 4, and Pandora's Tower. I would also look into No More Heroes 1 and 2, and MadWorld.

I guess that's a start.

nice thanks guys. i'll check these out. i didnt even know dead space was on the wii. might be good for halloween time :)

Only game I've played regularly was Resident Evil 4 at my friends place and we were quite addicted. Make sure you use the Wiimote for that!

i'm assuming the gamepad would not be supported with these older wii games?

Yea Wii games basically boot into Wii mode and games are played and presented as they were originally - kinda like booting your Mac into OS 9 when we transitioned to OS X

Anyone enjoying Splinter Cell: Blacklist? Having a blast actually!

I'm skipping the Sonic one (for now), I'm waiting for DK Tropical Freeze for some platform action and tbh the sonic trailers all seem to miss some enemies imho, also not a fan of these paragliding sections and such..

Haven't picked up Blacklist yet - been playing a ton of Wind Waker - 15 hours in! Such an awesome title - never played the original.

Zelda's out already? didn't know, Ocarina of time was the last one I've played, waiting for an all new Zelda to come out though..

I also want to recommend Giana Sisters, which came out a month ago or so. More than solid 2d platformer with great graphics and quite demanding leveldesign (for me that is :D). Stopped playing it because of Rayman, which isn't a fair competition, but when it gets a discount it'll be even more interesting later on for those of you who like jumping and running around.

One note to Rayman: beautiful game, probably perfect, but I actually find it a wee bit chaotic. Think I miss a bit the linearity, too much hopping from one level to another feature/gallery/whatnow I've just achieved...this and now single player kung-footsie!

Did anyone see Sonic Lost World TGS trailer?

Can't wait for this one!

Looks amazing! Getting such Mario Galaxy vibes from it (level structure, rendering style, music). Definitely picking it up.

That's my problem with it too. I miss how clear and concise Origins was in both the map and level design. You had to pull me away from Origins when it launched, you have to glue me to the seat for Legends.

Download was available 9/20 for the new console bundle and price drop.

Harkens back to Sonic 3D Blast for Sega Saturn... :D

Wind Waker HD getting good reviews

It is quickly becoming my favorite Zelda game of all time. First time playing Wind Waker - a simply amazing game

The Reg just had a really nice review of Wind Waker (it is page 2 of a larger review, in which GTA was on page 1). The reviewer had really positive things to say about the visuals.

I can't wait for the physical disc to be released...I'd love to download it and play it now, but I'm too busy at work, I wouldn't even get a chance to play it.

Well worth the wait especially if you don't have time yet - one of my few digital titles - the less than 2GB download made it a no brainer for me - and the popularity of that Ganon Figure/Game bundle makes me want to keep that new in box :)

That's the nice thing about downloads - you can keep collector's copies sealed.

Wish I had ordered the Collector's Edition - they are sold out everywhere to mostly to eBay resellers...:(

Yea eBay resellers suck - it was available for enough time so those that wanted to preorder could. GameStop doesn't charge a dime until it ships so those that wanted it don't have much of an excuse unless they wouldn't be able to save the $60 between announcement day and ship day.

The Gamestops by me said they had sold all the preorders for them within 2 days...

Are you guys finding the controller's battery life to be a problem? I've always liked Nintendo's first party titles, and I'm thinking about picking one up...but in regular use, how many hours would you say you really get out of it? Is it possible to just use a regular non-touchscreen controller with all the games, or you definitely need the screen for some things?

No you don't need it for most of the games and can just use the also excellent regular one. It is mandatory for some games, Zombie U for example, but that's rather an exception.
I read that there is either an improvement in batterylife already done or about to be done. Maybe some of the cracks here know more about that. Have fun, I love my Wii U. :)

Also, the regular, non-touchscreen Pro controller has an excellent charging span (?). Meaning you don't have to charge often.

Most games do support the Pro Controller, which I believe is rated at 80 hours of battery life - it is pretty amazing - you could have it dormant for months and still have a descent charge.

The GamePad which is very useful in Wind Waker and other dual screen enhanced games has a much shorter battery life. I don't have any big issues with it as I do most of my gaming at night where I would want the brightness at 1 and in that scenario it lasts a good 5-6 hours for me.

During the day with brightness cranked to 5 I will run it dry in 3-4 hours. Most gameplay sessions I have don't go more than a full battery on the GamePad and if they do that's a good indicator I need to take a break :)

Play Asia does sell an official first party extended battery that'll last a good deal longer: http://www.play-asia.com/wii-u-gamepad-battery-pack-2550mah-paOS-13-49-en-70-6oan.html
