Regardless, the iPod touch is an iPod, not an iTouch. The only clueless people here are the ones who can't seem to notice the difference.

If this iPad name is any representation whatsoever of the innovation and creativity that went into this "latest creation".... ugh.
I'd love to see a fresh new device -- with a fresh new name -- rather than something whose name is going to be slurred into an identity crisis. Continuity between products is great but the iPod/iPad names are wee bit too close IMO.

I agree...this is total misdirection on apple's part. Hey look...everthing points to it going to be called iPad...then whammo iSlate..or whatever they decide on.
It is to keep everyone guessing so nobody knows for certain what it will be called, what it will look like, specs etc.
But what of our USA friends in certain enclaves up north? "I want an iPad... No! The other iPad, gggrrrrrr... The iPad that plays music!
Can I just say, since it has been in my signature since forever, that I'm really looking forward to the Tablet equivalent of the infamous '500' thread!

Oh, no no no, it will obviously be called the iTouch, to annoy those annoying people who refer to the iPod touch as the iTouch.
On a more serious note though, iPad sounds, as a previous poster suggested, as a feminine skin care product. iTablet sounds clunky. And iSlate sounds just plain crappy. I'm hoping they call it the Apple Tablet. Sort of like the Apple TV. It doesn't sound clunky, and it even gets the brand in the name (kind of what Apple tried to do by switching to "MacBook" from "iBook,").
