I'm definitely in the no "i" in the title camp iPad or iSlate don't really do much for me. I'd like Mactouch or Macslate to bring it more to the computer side of things.

The new AppleCare Voice Navigation System:

"iPad."

"I think you said iPod. Is that correct?"

"No."

"My mistake. Please say the name of the product."

"iPad."

"I think you said iPod is that correct?"

"No."

"I'm sorry I'm still having trouble understanding you. Let me send you to someone who can direct you to the right representative. Hold on."

____________

BTW, it's kind of funny news in that I was opening my mail as I read this article and for some reason Costco sent me a free sample of what I believe are Poise sanitary napkins, which is weird on any day, especially weird as I'm reading about the iPad.

I'm predicting there's not going to be an 'i'

Both iSlate, iTablet, iPad just don't sound right...

My vote is still for iTab, cause B is under represented in the Apple lineup and I think iTab sounds better than iPad or iSlate.

Maybe another vote for removal of the i from product names.

iBook makes the most sense

I still feel that iBook makes the most sense:

* They own the Trademark all over the world.
* This would be a substitute for many of book (fiction novels or textbooks)
* It is also a NetBook competitor, with notebook capabilities
* Even though it may use a derivative of teh iPhone OS, it is intended to be more than just a larger iPod. This is more of a bridge between iPhone and and laptop

That's at least my two cents

potentially true, by this trademark filing.

GET RID OF THE ' i ' !

"Apple Slate"
"Apple Tablet"
"Apple Pad"

The thing is if they just called it the "Tablet," that would be way too confusing with the rest of the industry, since "tablet" will likely refer to any tablet device. So, by using the "i," it creates a specific, individual name. Returning to that, "iSlate" or "iTablet" seem most likely, although if I put you in a room with 50 people for an entire day and said "brain storm as many i-names as you can. your job is not to decide which name will be used. Your job is to list as many possibilities as you can," you would likely come up with some pretty good stuff.

The rumored Apple tablet has been referred to as the iPad by several of us for a while now. I liked it when the rumors were flying, but not as official name. I like the following name much better.

iPad is too similar to iPod. Apple's marketers and Steve-o would never opt for a name that would lead to branding confusion among the product lines.

I'm betting on iBook Touch, although it may be a bit of a mouthful (and too book-centered--this device is going to the the holy grail of media hubs, unifying your video, music, web, and print libraries, and taking them mobile). Here are some other possibles:

• Apple Palette, or Apple Canvas (neither of these options "sings," but they mesh with the event invite graphic)
• iPalette
• TouchBook (speaking of mouthfuls, it's probably too pornographic-sounding)

Remember how bizarre the name iPod sounded for a music player?Whatever they call it it will sound just right after a month.Nothing to get a worked up about.

They won't use the same name for a completely new different product.Imagine Ford coming out with a new sports car and calling it the Pinto.

Hard to tell- could be something we've not even thought of. The 'i' nomenclature is getting a bit long in the tooth. Then again- iBook is without a product presently. I could see iSlate or iTablet. iPad sounds a little too close to iPod though. We'll see...

it doesn't matter what they name there product... i just love there features
;) cant live without it....

Maybe they won't actually name it.

Maybe they will just refer to it as "this thing here" :D

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

advertisements will only list the product photo, apple logo, and features, but no name.

How about the "iThing" :D
