Will iPhone OS3.0 be released today?

Nobody knows for certain, but based last year's launch of the iPhone 3G and 2.0 software. I'm venturing to say that we'll have to wait another month before the 3.0 software comes out alongside the New iPhone.
they followed this exact same process last year. Announce the software early in the year, then at WWDC in early June announce the New iPhone and speak more about the software. Then launch both the hardware and software in mid July. It worked out INSANELY well for them last summer (how many million did they sell again?) so I couldn't see them switching it up.

just opened iTunes and got the following:

iTunes 8.2 now supports iPhone or iPod touch with the iPhone 3.0 Software Update. iTunes 8.2 also includes many accessibility improvements and bug fixes.

I hope it does come out today...

8.2 was released last week.

I was just going to mention that. With the Pre release, Apple needs to keep the hype up on the iPhone. We probably won't see anything today (unfortunately) , but hopefully within a couple weeks.

It means all the underlying changes that needed to be made for iTunes to recognise and support devices running 3.0 have been rolled into this release.

So that when 3.0 lobs we'll all be ready to go.

Also an all new "thing" will come out for sure. Presented by a charming man at the end. It will be "the next big thing" from Apple and will be the second cash cow besides the the new iPhone. Also, new gimmicks for MobileMe! (Video file tab, iTunes purchase management, etc.)

I believe it when I see it (in this case, read it). :)
 
My guess is it won't be availible today. Maybe a week before the new iPhones come out so everyone isn't flooding the **** out of Apple's servers.

On another note, I am actually thinking about waiting a week or two because usually apple will come out with another update with glitch fixes and stuff a couple days later. :)

I really hope your wrong because Beta 5 is IMO not ready just yet. Soon but not yet.....:)
 
The new iPhone OS will be released on the new iPhone goes on sale ... and that won't be today! I suspect it will be released in approximately 2 - 3 weeks.

would be really really REALLY nice if this turns out to be true.
 
I agree with you guys there...I just can't see Beta 5 being the final build in anyway shape or form. I see beta 6 coming today with "new features", but I'm probably 100% wrong....:(
