I’m so used to the display size (not the whole phone size) of iPhone 7 Plus, and even though I only had the Plus for couple of months,I just cannot stand small screen size of standard iPhones anymore.

So I’m thinking about pre-ordering an iPhone X,I believed the numbers and thought it’s gonna be same screen size but smaller form factor.(perfect)

But now everyone is talking about iPhone X display size being more similar to standard iPhones rather than Plus due to screen ratio, notch etc

Are there other iPhone Plus owners worried about iPhone X display size?

My short answer to the OP's question is "I don't know." Unlike some people who are certain that the X will be a disappointment without ever having used it, I'm reserving judgment. The smaller size of the device compared to my 7 Plus appeals to me. I'm aware of the differences in pixel count, the constraint imposed by the notch, and so on, but I want to see for myself. However, given how difficult it's going to be to get an X, I'm going to try to pre-order one and then return it if I'm not satisfied.

As a Plus iPhone user I really looking forward to the 6.4 inch iPhone X coming next year.

Edit :- iPhone 8 vs iPhone X display size, much bigger display in a smaller footprint

There will be an iPhone X Plus next year. Im not giving up the width of my 7 Plus.

The iPhone X is more of a successor to the 4.7 inch iPhone.

The total screen size is smaller than the Plus model.

Exactly. Not sure why people wanna say the X has a bigger screen.

That notch is here to stay, Apple has chosen it as an imagine of the iPhone.

If you wanna make your phone ugly as a image for the consumer I can think of a dozen different ways they could have pulled that off without ruining the experience every time one looks at the display.

Yep... the X is more for non-Plus owners.

The only X I'd be interested in would be next year's X Plus... that is rid of that hideous notch.

I don't know, I am a Plus user and I am excited about the X. A more compact phone with a large OLED is what I am looking for. I'd definitely take a look at an X Plus next year though depending on size.

What are some ways?

What are some ways?

Pick a random color and apply it to the case. Then pick another random color and apply it to the case in a striped pattern. Then pick a 3rd random color and do the same striped pattern in the other direction.

Voila! A checkerboarded ugly af phone new image that the apple fans will still gobble up all day long!

But no... they have to put a notch on the display that my eyes are IMMEDIATELY drawn to every time I look at it. It's like buying a new car and going to Walmart for the first time... you finish shopping and go outside to see somebody has door dinged you with a dent big enough to see from 50 ft away.

Yeah, it's still a nice shiny new car... and yeah, my eyes are gonna IMMEDIATELY be drawn to that door ding every time I look at my car.

My 2 cents. :)

Yep... nothing wrong with that. We differ in the fact I like the Plus size and am not looking for compact. I like the Plus screen as is... can easily use one handed too. (I've linked photos in previous posts on the subject)

So I'll wait and see what the X Plus has to offer next year.

I've been saying for a long time that I suspect many plus users do not realize that the iPhone X is going to give them LESS space than their current phone. Many users here on the forums seem to realize that, but I don't think your average Joe will. How can you blame them? Apple is marketing this as a 6.0" screen (which it is).

What is happening with the iPhone X is not unlike what happened with the iPhone 5. The phone is getting taller, not necessarily wider (it's getting marginally wider but you understand what I'm saying). As far as viewing media such as photos and video is concerned, you are limited by the shortest side. In the case of the iPhone X, the shortest side (width) is quite a bit smaller than the iPhone Plus models.

I personally like the size of the iPhone X, but again -- I'm not so sure that everyone understands what "6.0 inch screen" means in this context.

edit --

For anyone interested, go into Best Buy sometime and pick up a Galaxy S8 (NOT the S8+). That's about what the iPhone X is like.

Also, OP, your profile pic is terrifying. :p

You'll be going backwards & placing form factor ahead of screen size.

If you favour screen size over form factor, then it won't be for you.

The X is more for non-plus owners.
I don't agree with this.

To me the X is trying to offer as much screen estate as possible in a smaller package. Not quite the same screen estate as Plus models, but for many it will be "close enough." I'm not sure I am included in that "many" but I tend to think I am. And I have owned a "phablet" since they were still called that. I skipped the iPhone 5 series due to being too small but came back to iPhone with the 6S.

Still, like the OP I wonder if the X will leave me feeling that it is just too small compared to what I have gotten used to. So it is hard for me to pull the trigger and pre order until I have actually held one in my hand.

Very informative.

Might make for one less "I got my X but the screen is smaller than my Plus" threads on release day.

I don’t believe they’ll get rid of the notch anytime soon. If they did they would alienate the millions of people who bought the phones with the notch and will kill their resale value. The notch is here for at least another 3 years in my opinion.
