If you zoomed out on the X there would be an even bigger difference. I’m having a hard time deciding but I may just use more airplay and casting for the x.

This is my wife’s X. If I were replacing my 8+ with an X I’d probably use my MacBook, iPad or cast more for video if 16:9 is the format I’m watching.

I have been Plus since 6. I’m a fan. I love the 8+ as it’s the juiced version of 6S+ with amazing camera.

I’ve been trying to talk myself into the X for weeks now. Spent over an hour at store comparing phones. I’m done. Can’t do it. X is a great phone but i can’t leave the 8+ for it. Both apparently have speaker issues.

8+ is perfect for me. X is too thin and I actually loathe the protruding camera more than the Notch.

That’s exactly what I’m doing now that I have the X.

The thinness is definitely something that I didn’t expect to have an issue with. The wider plus makes it easier to hold with two hands and type. I’m talking myself into this 8 plus. Lol

I started filling the screen on every video. It helps with the size issue. I’m going to see how much I care about the content being cut off.

It varies. Anything with subtitles or captions gets heavily impacted. Anything with on-screen information along the edges tends to get cut up.

More egregious is the quality takes a hit whenever I watch any 16:9 stretched to full screen so everything looks off.

Actual Hollywood Movies tend to look great however. 2.39:1 and 2.35.1 content is right at home when full screen on the X. Detail and colors are perfect.

I was a plus user for many years. But always knew I wanted to go back to a smaller size phone. The X is perfect. Not too small like the 8 and not too big like the Plus.

True, but right now majority of video is 16x9. Hopefully the larger ratios gain more support soon seeing as phones from now on will have these ratios.

What I’m holding feels like a phone. (X) I miss my tiny tablet. And next year will be really great with the X plus. 6in all screen. Might be trading this in tonight.

I’ll miss the gestures the most.

Been using it since Saturday and while I haven't done a ton of web browsing with it, the screen size has been fine for me. It's fine for games and messaging, which is mostly what I have used it for, and I'm excited about all the new stuff in it (new toy syndrome) and that it is a departure from what was seemingly like the same phone I had been using for 3 years (6 Plus to 6S Plus to 7 Plus).

I've not compared my 7 Plus and the X side-by-side but I don't feel that's really necessary. The X has been more than good enough for what I want out of it and I'm happy as a clam.

Only had the X for a few hours now. Browsing and misc things seem great with gestures, but video may be a problem. I’ve had a plus for so long that videos seem small and off for some reason. The tv app is not good when viewing a movie in portrait mode. To close the movie the “done” tab is overlapping the time. It’s just not designed right.

Welp. I did it folks. Said goodbye to my less than 2 week old iPhone X. It was hard saying goodbye to that almost all screen no bezel design and those fluid fast and awesome gestures. See you next year iPhone X Plus.

But I’m so happy to have to have this Plus in my hands right now. The keyboard feels so spacious and easy to type on with two hands. The split screen plus apps are very nice, battery will be better since I never stop using my phone all day and best of all video looks great!!! Welcome back to my life tiny tablet. You were severely missed over this past week and a half.

I tried to like the X. Love the Plus. This 8 Plus is major sleeper. Like you said, typing with two hands is perfect width. Video looks great and skies are blue, not purple. 3...2....

That’s weird. Didn’t have any color issues with the X. I think the X is fantastic for someone coming from a regular sized phone. From the Plus it’s a little harder sell depending on how you use your phone. If you use it like a phone then it’s probably great for you. If you use it like a tablet then not so much.

that's a bad comparison and i think you're allowing your eyes to play tricks on you.

but just so we're clear, clouds are supposed to be white, right?

in this comparison photo, the bottom picture has blue clouds.. the top has magenta.
neither are right.. both phones are no good at color reproduction if this image is a true representation of them.

the actual sky in both versions is blue.. regardless, it's a bunk comparison..

do you see that now?

I am finding the screen width of the X to be annoying. It cuts off a lot of websites on the right hand margin when the page is sized so the text is comfortably sized.

On my old 6+ these sites fit just fine. Thinking about “downgrading” to the 8+

The width although minor does make a difference and was one of the dealbreakers for me who previously used a plus. Apples Plus model phones are the sweetspot of their lineup especially when it comes to watching video.

I like the screen size of my X. Feels great to use with one hand again, but that’s just me. Some people will prefer the larger foot print of a plus model phone .

I’d go for it if you are unhappy. The X was a great phone when I had it but I’m happier using an 8 Plus based on my personal usage.

Yeah it goes down to personal usage at the end of the day. Screw everything else . If you’re happy with the 8 Plus, then great. It’s your phone when it’s all said and done, you gotta be happy with the device you’re carrying everyday

I’ve been on a Plus model since 6 and it took less than a day of use with my new X to start missing the larger display. (Yes, it is and feels smaller) The X is still a great handset and I’m not unhappy with it but at the end of the day, you feel like you’ve traded in a feature. I’m sure not all feel that way but I do. Honestly, the X is such a great handset, I think Apple purposely waited to release a Plus version if for nothing else, than to give X users a reason to upgrade in a year.
