My iPhone 13 Pro Max is less than a year old. How many iPhone users upgrade after just a year, or even two? For me it is typically three years between new models, so I'm more interested in the innovations that will be coming with the iPhone 15 and even iPhone 16!
I normally upgrade every two years, but I'm not sure I will again until there's a flip version. (But I probably will next year, from a Mini to a Pro, not max)

I really like my Samsung Flip3... (I have 2 phones)

Started buying my iPhones unlocked a long time ago. Best decision ever. Got tired of dealing with monthly fees, 😂.

I would just easily swap the SIM card depending on which color I’m feeling for the day.
while I have done the same, unless you want to swap SIMs, 2 phones active at the same time would require 2 service contracts ... plus, your friends/family will now have 2 phone #s to remember ;)

Good grief.

Betteridge's law of headlines strikes again
I see some thoughtfulness going into these editorials. I like to read them because as much as I consider myself well versed in Apple's going-ons, the authors of these pieces are more knowledgable.

The thing is, they are what they are, speculative editorials. I would like to see whoever is writing these articles use their name and speak in the first person. That is, "I am inclined to believe... because..." Even better, I would rather see them do a point-counterpoint with two named authors. Maybe a weekly column this:
1. Let them both write their thoughts on a topic.
2. Have them send it to the editor for inclusion who also shares it with the other party.
3. Let them write a rebuttal to the other person's claims.
4. Open the comments for further discussion.

Well, if I don’t feel like swapping the Sim card I do have a burner phone number on my bill. Remember the old days when you would carry a burner line so you can upgrade to the new iPhones every year 😃 how times have changed.

Mini is going away, which is their most practical iPhone. Massive dissapointment.
It’s not making any money for Apple. Plus the battery life and camera are outdated. Sad to see it go. But, Apple is not about to sit here and lose money on the mini. It just didn’t do well in sales.

Can't you download the eSim to your Phones? I've never owned an iPhone but I would think they would support eSim's.
Yes sir, you can. eSim's are easier and more reliable but I'm very old school. I prefer the physical SIM card. It's just easier and you just swap it out. Works like magic, plus all your data gets transferred via iCloud automatically and instantly. Makes everything seamless.

I hope it will be a disappointment with more to resolve with the 15 release. T-Mobile will be finishing the monthly credit paying off my current "free" iPhone about the time the 15 is released. Then I will see how I can snag a free iPhone 15.

"

Will the iPhone 14 Be a Disappointment?"

Yes, if it will retain the same design and the same SoC..but at the same starting price point as last year...for sure
The iphone 14 pro...maybe not

No mini no buy
Same. Love the mini. Know I’m in the minority.

I’m not sure what mass audience innovations we can reasonably expect to see moving forward. Significant battery life improvements? Under screen camera and/or fingerprint detection? Those are about the only ones that come to mind that might appeal to a ton of folks.

Most of the super specific things I see here and in other tech blogs seem to matter to a small segment of the user base.

I was initially going to get the 14 because my X is feeling 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 old (despite its new-ish 100% £20 3210mAh knock-off battery,) but the (recent news of) lack of USB-C means I’ll be waiting for the 15 now at the earliest.

This also gives me time to evaluate the 48MP "retina" back-facing camera.

Also, the Alpine Green is something that I never knew I wanted, but now I want, so a 15 mid-cycle Alpine Green is probably when I drop another £1k.

Using my Pixel 4a for holiday photos this year instead.
