Will the iPhone 5 differ vastly from 4s?

I'm more interested in the changes to iOS. I doubt we'll see a completely new UI but I wouldn't mind it. Is there anything new Apple can do with iOS that isn't already on the market.

3D screen for what? Not sure it would be groundbreaking...hasn't HTC already had 3D smartphones?

I think the transition from 3GS to 4 was based more on its "fancy new features" but i think the transition from 4s to 5's biggest feature will be centered around LTE and a new design

besides a slight modification, I don't think it is possible to upgrade the 4s features to something as big as how 3GS went to 4 as what the 4s has now is where we are at technologically at the is current time and anything more than a slight upgrade will be somewhat sci fi and not realistic

Please note I am not talking about the 4s internal specs like data and speed etc but I am more referring to the "ou la la" fancy features that are notable to anyone

WELL the 4s had this biggest internal upgrade over all of the phones all of the phones before it had single cores. So the 4s has had the biggest jump that way. I still think its possible to update the new phone on the level from 3gs-4. Not so much on the processor level but everything else. It will still have a lot better chip than the a5.

I didn't say it was functional. It's about as functional as Dolby 7.1 surround sound would be on a mobile. Probably has been done before. There's very little that hasn't.
Man's been to the moon before too, but if we were sending 10 000 tourists a day there it would be ground breaking... :p

apple doesn't want to not be the best phone out there. They already know that there are better phones out there than the 4s they will have to spend more money on something that nobody has and they have the money for it. Same thing they did with the iPad 3 screen. The screen is ridiculous and nobody has it. So they will come up with something that would be huge for the new phone IMO.

I am having a hard time seeing a 3GS to 4 upgrade, which is why I pulled the trigger on buying a 4s I can't see how apple will vastly improve features that were exclusive to the 4 like FaceTime, front camera, retina, Siri etc besides minor tweaks

It just seems unrealistic and sci fi lol

That's why I am betting on the LTE, bigger screen and new design to be the major upgrades and selling point of the 5, sort of like the 2g to 3G jump
 
they revolutionized the iPad screen. you don't think they can come up with something more?
our hdtv's don't have as high of resolution as the iPad screen its pretty big jump from everything on the market right now.

You do understand that once a new design iPhone comes out nobody will want a 4s anymore right? Well not most people anyway some people that don't care like my mom or someone would be happy with 100$ cheaper phone. But the rest of the world wants to be seen with a new iPhone while the old one is the old one.
One of my friends called me that just got the 4s and the first thing he says is i hate that nobody can tell i have the new iPhone compared the 4. So being an old design makes it out of date to most people. I don't understand it but I'm sorta the same way as him as i like to have everything new like him.

The screen is a tweak not a fully fledged upgrade like facetime or a front camera or even LTE

The screen was a possible upgrade if anyone was to predict that before the iPad 3 came out it would have been considered

What do you think are possible that apple can do to revolutionize the phone market

That was only because of the parts leak. nobody knew till that and even then it was speculation.
I have no idea haha. Im not the one with billions of dollars to buy the most advanced thing to put in a phone.

Well exactly if it's possible then people can speculate about it and for the iPhone 5 the speculations are the LTE, big screen, liquid metal and new design

For example if someone would have said that the 4s will have a talking organizer, a front camera or facetime etc etc we would have automatically thought it was possible because we know it can be done.

don't forget although apple have billions of dollars they can't use top notch products because it will cost alot and I am sure no one will buy a phone over 1000 dollars lol

So what I am getting to is that all of the upgrades that apple did on the 4s are already high tech and anything more than a slight tweak would be sci fi and if it is possible it will cost too much for people to buy.

so that is my reason today that LTE, a bigger screen and a new design will be the major upgrades that will factor the selling point of the iPhone 5

I think many of you guys can agree on this

Ps: I am not trying to convince myself that I did the right decision to avoid remorse because these points are what made me decide to get the 4s

Yeah, you've pretty much covered it.

I think we've already eluded to the fact that iOS 6 and what it brings to the party will supercede any possible hardware upgrades Apple could be planning for the 5.

I wonder what treats are in store with iOS 6 though, and how many of those sweets will be 4s enabled?

Having said that, LTE, more ram, bigger screen, new form factor and possibly a slightly enhanced CPU and battery are upgrades not to be frowned upon.

I, like you, am loving my 4s (I only got it 3 months ago), I'm enjoying a lot more than I'm enjoying my older 4 but I WILL most definitely be getting the 5 and I too am in an environment where we cannot utilize 4G-LTE (South Africa).

I guess it's reached a point of compulsion. As long as I can afford it. I'll take whatever iPad and iPhone upgrades are available. Got the new iPad and am loving it!! Huge upgrade over the iPad 2 IMHO...

I don't believe the 5 is one to miss though.

IMHO I really do not think the 4s to 5 will be as big as the 3GS to 4
And many iPhone enthusiasts seem to say that the iphone 4s to 5 transition will be like iPad 2 to iPad 3, which while being advanced than the 2 is not considered a vast upgrade and most people that recently got the 2 are not kicking themselves

I was trying to Pm Sara Adam about what she wrote earlier but she doesn't except pm

She says she is a iOS developer in her profile.
Do you think an iOS developer would know anything about any iPhone 5 features that doesn't include iOS.

yea anybody can be a developer it isn't hard to be one just cost a little bit of money. They aren't told anything anybody else doesn't already know.

and the ipad2-3 didn't change much form factor wise. The iPhone can change a lot more than you think.Its hard to change the iPad much from what it is...
 
If devs were told all this magic info, it would end up on the front page about .3 seconds after it was sent out to said developers.

Well surely you must have a slight idea about what apple can change in the the iPhone 5?

What are some upgrades they could do that would make the transition similar to the 3GS to 4?
