I think for October/ November the supplies will be constrained but by Christmas you should be able to walk in to get one.

No chance it will sell out fast. Most of the parts are legacy components from older iPhones. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if the plastic backs are from old 5c’s.

By the end of Q4 the XR will easily be 58-62% of total iPhone sales.
The majority of upgraders don’t want a XS as weak demand indicates. The Xs Max and XR do not compete. Bank on it. :apple:

True. Apple has in mind two completely different consumer groups, one who wants a stripped down new iPhone (Xs) and one who wants the latest and most up today iPhone with all the bells and whistles(Xs/Vs Max) who doesn't mind paying up for it.

It’s not just Apple it’s consumerism in general. A more affordable option will always be more popular due to the wide range of demographics. Apple are simply acknowledging the average consumer rather than targeting a smaller niche market. If any company targeting a big market wants to continue making money, they have to be appealing.

Really?! Never heard that before. Here's another unoriginal idea - both can be positives. SHOCKING!

One is missing from that device. It isn't smart to attempt to shame someone and then defend a device
that doesn't have full HD. Something Apple devices got 4 yrs ago, and something nearly every phone has that is $200+ up. Shocking.

If a garbage and low quality PC outsells any Mac, it doesn't mean anything either.

Errmigahd it doesn't have "full hd"! What am I going to do without my full HD?!!!

IDK. You’ll just have to get use to the lower PPI and low rez screen. After a while you won’t notice the difference...unless you compare it to a Xs/XsMax.

Maybe they can lower the res down to 480p, some here would love that to "preserve battery life". LOL

Yeah, I like the home button too.
I bet next year iphones will have virtual home buttons.

Why would they do that? They already have one called swiping from the bottom. Another home button, virtual or otherwise would be a step back not to mention redundant.

It will sell out.

Apple could have called it iPhone Xc, but they didn't because it has the internals of the current flagship. not last year's.

It's a great value at $750. In 3 years it will replace iPhone SE at $350. Until then, increased ASP will replace volume. In 3 years today's Xr will compete with flagship products from the rest.

I think most consumers outside a tech forum will appreciate the XR and Won’t fret over ‘PPI’, this Phone will be successful long term. However, I agree that there will be threads stating “Why I returned my XR” shortly after the launch.

You mean like every iPhone. There’s always been stuff like this, eg “why I returned my XS Max”, “why I retuned my XS”, “why I returned my X”, “why I returned my 8 Plus”... obviously it can be for various different reasons but it happens with every single iPhone.

Yeah, the people who keep harping on technical specs like they're going to affect sales are so hilariously out of touch. Go be a huge nerd and go to an Apple store and tell people who are in line to get an XR that the PPI on it isn't enough. Watch as they dismiss you for the crackpot that you are.

Apple is huge because people believe in the idea.
Idea > How > What
Most companies start with "What" and go backwards. That's the mistake.

Indeed. I can remember when the first iPhone came out. My girlfriend had some Nokia so called “iPhone killer”. Off hand I can’t remember the exact model but every single spec was superior to the iPhone. But you know what, that Nokia was utter pants.

Those were physical device sizes. With that in mind the screen of the XR will be bigger due to the smaller bezels it has.

The screen will be longer in length, but smaller in width.

Hope this helps. I'm debating Max or XR. I watch a lot of old movies, so they will be slightly smaller than on my plus phone, but newer movies will be slightly bigger than on my plus phone... mmm...

People are dumb. What's your point?

Once again, it has nothing to do with sales, it has to do with quality. $300 PC's sell well, does that make them good? People like to buy cheap things if they work.
So expecting a display to have at least 1080p when it costs $749+ makes someone a nerd, suddenly? LOL.

HD has moved onto 4k for years now, I don't think it's absurd to expect EVERY phone to have a 1080p resolution at the minimum.

Once again, it will sell well because the other new iPhones are priced so much higher, it means nothing. It's gonna sell well because the display isn't complete trash, but it's still a step backward.

You mean like every iPhone.

No, I mean more specifically, in relation to the XR thread, for those two ordered the iPhone XR, you have undoubtedly those who will start a thread stating that the’ display is inferior ‘and ‘why I returned it’ because of the dispay threads. That’s what I meant.

“Also, the display changes color too much when viewing at slight angles, reminds me of 10 year old LCD displays unfortunately”.

I’m sure that you can find more. There will probably be more display issue type threads with the XR. But I wouldn’t bother with them. Some will also be from trolls. There are always trolls.

You see, if the XR had been released before the Max I would definitely have got one with that 6.1" display. I was going to wait but was swayed by the Max when I saw it in the store.

I think the XR will sell pretty well but not sell out; there are a number of colour and storage variants.

Sorry, I meant that they might have a virtual finger print sensor on-screen. I do like being able to unlock when the phone is sitting beside me. But, I haven't tried the face scan so not sure what I would like better.
