I edited my initial post. On mine, I don't have a shadow that I see during normal use, even on a white screen. I have to focus my eyes on the area to see what 'maybe' looks like a tiny tiny shadow. I have pretty bad ocd as well (I traded a 5 month old Porsche after a minor fender bender because I couldn't stand the non-factory paint) and this 'spot' doesn't bother me. Yours must be worse. If it's obviously noticeable just scrolling through a webpage id exchange it too.
Wow... You are the face of Apple customers... Unlimited money, spending without regard, and completely irrational...

I thought they did fix the pressure issue? They used pressure to move the S in front of the 6 and released the S6, and it was waaaaaaaay better.

But you provide no actual useful information except what you think acceptable battery life is and that your note 4 was "black" in direct sunlight.

Here you go. That s what I consider acceptable.

As far as the screen turning black, it's a common occurrence on the Note 4 and Galaxies 2, 3, and 5.

So has Apple corrected this issue? I'm on my 2nd iPhone 6S Plus with a soft blemish at the right side and waiting for the new batch early next year to replace it again.

I find iPhone screens change over the course of the first few months of use.

When I first got my iPhone 6S+, it had a colour temp shift left to right (yellow to blue). 2 months in, that's now much improved but a new problem has appeared. I now have dark shadows on the on the top third and bottom third of the screen and the centre of the screen is brighter than the rest.

When you scroll text up and down the screen, it becomes quite apparent the Backlight is now uneven. If you've ever seen DSE (Dirty Screen Effect) on LCD/LED TVs, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Everything else about the phone is perfect so I'm quite reluctant to get the phone swapped as the chances are high I'll get a phone with another problem.

Have you seen a Samsung phone with a black screen in the dark before? I can't see anyone accepting that from an iPhone lol.

A Samsung phone with a amoled display showing a black picture in the dark is pure black. I have a Note 3. Why is this bad?

edit: here is a video showing amoled vs lcd in the dark

If you look closely you will see big dark black splatter marks on the screen, this is a downside to amoled screens. Have a Google they ALL suffer this too before you start.

I really think Apple is just hoping this goes away. Like I said, I received an e-mail that they don't think there's anything wrong (in that they think the issue is tolerable even though they did see it) and are not willing to swap my phone anymore for this issue because they feel that it isn't a big deal. They pretty much paid me to go away (in the form of a new beats pill+). While I appreciate the help I got and the offer they gave me, I just don't htink this is the same Apple that really used to care about the customer and fixing an issue.

Big corps never really care, they just want your money, kind of obvious.

I do not see what your talking about. What I do see is a ton of bleed on the lcd and none on the oled which is very obvious.

Normally I completely agree with you, but Apple never used to be this bad. I remember I had signal issues with my iPhone 5, and they spent months working with me trying to diagnose exactly what was going on. We finally got the issue resolved. It was never like this, paying us to go away.

Mine is exactly like you describe. However, I find the shift just subtle enough that I am not usually aware of it even when scrolling (whereas my S5 AMOLED with its yellow bottom half, does catch my eye all the time). So perhaps mine isn't quite as obvious as yours, but the characteristic and mutation over time are precisely the same.

There is an interesting effect from heat as well. Try putting your screen brightness up to 100% for several minutes and see if it reduces the effect. It does on mine.

If you manually add those minutes up, it is about 7hrs, no where close to the totals shown (13h 29m, or 36h 37m).

Yes, you're absolutely right....and changes in ambient light exacerbates the problem too. Fluorescent lighting make it appear a lot worse than it it. When I'm back at home (incandescent lighting), its better but still visible without looking for it. If I can see it in everyday use, its a fault in my book. My phone has 4 of these blemish points too....but they didn't bother me much as I could only see them when I looked for them.

I thought I could live with it but after examining friends iPhone's I've decided £789 is too much for a phone with a uneven screen. Just finished with Apple online support chat and they agree, the screen shouldn't be like that so they've organised an express replacement for me. I really hope this one has an even backlight.

Fingers, toes and buttocks crossed!

I agree, if its bothering you everytime you use the phone then you need to try replacing it. Do you mean you have seen iPhone 6s plus without these characteristics, because it does seem to be fairly common? Please do report back how your replacement is in this thread.

Will do. For reference, here's what my current screen looks like. Note the 2 horizontal lines at the top, one at the bottom and a much brighter centre.

Oddly enough the blemishes aren't captured in the photo but they are there too.

I really hope the replacement is good.

That looks really bad from the picture. Is the picture exaggerating it? Also, there are these shadows behind the dimmer areas, or is that just fingermarks?

Mine is nowhere near as bad as that picture looks, but as I mentioned, the general evolution you described is the same. I am pretty sure it all has to do with pressure on various parts of the screen due to the mounting points etc, which changes over numerous heat and cool cycles. And clearly the new ingredient/mix in all of this is the force touch.

Yeah its not great - the screen is clean in this photo so what you see is the uneven backlight. In person, you rarely see the issues on a static screen but as soon as something scrolls across the screen its quite apparent.

Its such as shame the main component of these Phones is also its biggest weakness. Thank goodness Apple Support is awesome!
