Was considering U2, but pricing in Europe is just ridiculous. Up 10% from last model which cost an arm and a leg to begin with.

slightly considered upgrading until I saw the ultra trade-in value. Too much money for very little

I'm still tryin to work out what they've upgraded on the AW Ultra 2 Seriously. That was possibly the most mediocre event they've ever achieved. The iPhone got some decent upgrades. The watch ... eh???? They seem to have substituted marketing in for innovation. Where's the bigger screen and the improved sensors. They talk about sustainability and the environment but if they actually gave a damn they would have waited a year and made some real changes worth buying. I'm usually quite positive but this time round I'm still scratching my head.

Very underwhelmed with the Ultra 2 announcement

Best new feature was the finger actions

Other than that, no design changes and no dark color. Same battery life.

Saved me money this year on an upgrade. I would bet Ultra 3 is going to WOW us.

I am no longer betting that Apple will wow me on anything. The last time I was wowed was with the m1 silicon. I liked the apple watch but it was incremental and not that much of a huge advance. Even as someone who usually uses a PC I am seriously thinking of buying an m2 based ultra mac for the power savings over the pc I have. For most of what I do it will be just as good if not better. The VR stuff - meh. I don't have a use case. The phone updates were nice and I'll probably get the 1tb iphone 15 pro max mainly for the usb c and the camera. The button thingy meh - who cares. They need to release less often and innovate more. Once I buy the phone this time That's it I'm on a 4-5 year replacement cycle. Likewise the watch (which i wont update now) so unless they come up with blood glucose monitoring and and blood pressure sensor mmmm. As to the innovative design on a 6.1 inch slab well changing it to 6.2 inch and squaring off, curving the glass slightly or not isn't innovation.

Brighter display, faster CPU, new U chip, on-device Siri, double-tap gesture, more storage (64 GB vs. 32 GB)

If you have last years model, these are not for you anyway. Keeping your old Watch is the most sustainable thing you can do. For folks with an older Watch, say S3 or S4, this is a massive upgrade.

Agreed. I have a S6 and will be upgrading.

Am I the only one that thinks that finger tap thing is a comedy in the making? I fidget a bit, and sometimes tap my fingers. All of a sudden, I'll be starting functions on my watch...

Initially I was like, heck yeah! Apple is offering $380 for the trade in of the AWU1. But then I started thinking about it. My health is 100%, what really is there that is different? CPU, tap thing, brighter display, storage (using 14.1 of 32GB now). And after all was said and done it was going to be $500 out the door after trade in.

Yeah... I'll wait. I'll probably pick up one of those new alpine bands.

That‘s why they made it a double tap, I guess. Single tap would happen too often inadvertently.

That's what I'm thinking. I spend all day at the computer. How is it not going to think me typing or something is snapping my fingers? lol.

No i do not plan on upgrading to Ultra 2 coming from the Ultra 1. Not really upgrade worthy imo and is just very very minor at best.
