I love it when people are making decisions based on rumors.

I bet when Apple actually released the next iPhone at the same starting price as today, all the tech blogs will be bashing Apple on how the iPhone is no longer a luxury item.

I don't believe it's necessarily about "Buying decisions" at this point, because no one truly understands what they are buying. I think it's more about justifications based off rumors. That's all anyone has to refer to. Which, is how hype is instilled. It depends on how rationale someone is and what they want to believe will happen.

You don't find the reason to upgrade from your iPhone 6 due to superficial reasons, so be it. I don't upgrade every year because "I want the latest and greatest" or for superficial reasons, I upgrade anually for reasons of the software/hardware upgrades appeal to me.

To many times, there is the misconception of those who believe these bloated rumors of a grandiose iPhone that will release later in the year and then it doesn't happen, therefore, their expectations were set high with the current device, now being "Sub par."

I, have the expectation knowingly that cell phones or the iPhone, don't have major revamps every single year. It's in increments, and if those incremental upgrades are sufficient enough for me, then I will justify my purchase. I thought the 6s from the iPhone 7 had plenty of smaller, incremental upgrades that again appealed to me.

I do believe the September 2017 iPhone will have a major revamp.

Just to be clear, I didn't mean to imply anything about your reasons for upgrading, I was just explaining my reasons for not, to emphasize my point about needing to more before I decide this year as well.

When firms like OnePlus and Huwaii are making very decent spec phones for comparative peanuts, and Sony/Motorola/LG etc make flagships at 'affordable' prices then I see iPhones and Pixels being massively overpriced. Nobody need drop such a big wad on a high performance phone anymore, so Apple increasing their already exhorbitant pricing will be a very bad move IMO.

No.

I never bought the gloss black iPhone 7 as it was £100 more.

Another reason is I don't want a larger iPhone.

I will buy the IPhone 7S. The new design will come to all iPhones eventually. I don't think the larger more expensive iPhone will sell aswell as they think. The 4.7 inch I'm sure does better than the plus models at the moment anyway.

Yes I will, still on my 6+ and it's showing its age. I don't think it'll make it past this year as it's already giving me problems freezing up, etc.

I barely want to pay $1000 for a computer, let alone a phone.

I just got a 7 Plus, and it's the most expensive phone I've ever bought, and I probably won't ever buy a more expensive one.

I'm still using a 6 plus, that I purchased in January 2015, so there is a good chance I'll upgrade when the next iPhone comes out. Not sure I'd want to drop $1,000 every year, but every 2-3 years isn't so bad.

But, as always, I don't make that decision until it is announced and can see what features it has and the price.

I would pay $1500 to have it now!

Back in the Nextel days, I had a connection that could get the latest, not even introduced, Blackberry phones for me if will to pay a bit extra. At the time it was worth it but as I get a little older . . . .

I bought my 6 plus in November 2014 and it's starting to feel a bit old lately.. Still a very good phone in my opinion but I'm 95% sure that I'm going to buy the iPhone 8.

It will depend on how much more than $1000 we are talking. If this is a special 10th anniversary phone starting at $1500-2000, then no, not even with carrier payments, that's just too much. If this has a bunch of improvements and we are talking $1049, then yes.

With the latest batch of rumors in the last 24+ hours, it's looking even more unlikely the iPhone-X will a consideration for me.

I'll be fine waiting for the features to trickle down to the standard iPhones.

I don't see the iPhone ranging anywhere near $1500-$2000. I do believe if the OLED model does exist, it will easily reach close to $1000, partly because of cost of materials and it will probably be exclusive to one size, which is likely going to be the rumored 5.8 inch model.

No. I think I've been burned with first iterations too much. I'll be likely just either hanging onto my 7+ or I'll be moving up to another of the older style.

The cost is the cost. I see more people driving expensive cars now than I ever did 5 years ago, so clearly there's more money reaching the country's pockets from somewhere. Apple's just flowing with the financial trend.

Also, I highly doubt we'll get a 7s/plus and an 8 AS WELL. Why would they undercut their existing devices and The new one for that matter?

I bet 7 and 7 plus get a minor increase of some variety (like the 6s getting a storage increase last year) and the single 8 model will be the flagship.

That, or they'll do what they've done for the last 3 years and release a smaller phone and a bigger phone with the 8 moniker. Because it's apple and they don't complicate matters if it's unnecessary.

No I don't mean that. I would buy it over $1000 but the upgrades will really have to justify the increased spend. Your interpretation means no matter the upgrades, $1000 is too much.

Obviously working with rumours but I think most will have a decision in mind (although it could change). I'm not taking any responses as binding!
Fair enough, but then it's still not a very good question IMO (since you omitted what you just told me from the original question).

I predict the base model (64gb) to be $849 & the tiered up model (256gb) to be $999.

I'll spend the $850.

Good luck with that. Probably a bit harsh considering we haven't seen it yet.

You can't be serious? Soon that wouldn't get you any decent mid range device.

With that budget you'd be limited to older and used models only.
Depending what part of Europe you're located in iphones are pretty expensive there.

Im dead serious, no reason for a phone to cost more then €500, spacial when there are other companies that offering their latest models for less, so no reason for Apple to charge these prices!

Who said im limited only to mid range\older\used phones? I can get new SE for less them €500, and in my opinion is the best iPhone at the moment.
