I'm sorry for what might seem like a real dumb question and perhaps this might not be the best thread to ask, but I'm considering buying an Ipad 5 for school (notes, textbooks, etc..) and recreational use but the price tag is obviously a little scary for me being a college student and all. My dad has offered to sell me his Ipad 3 for the amount he would receive from a Gazelle trade in. I kind of like having newer technology, but this seems like a very hard deal to pass up. Would the Ipad 3 still be handle most tasks for school and personal use well? I've read some people saying in this section that iOS 7 feels a little sluggish on previous Ipads. Again, sorry to sound like such an armature here, I have never owned a tablet before.

Without a doubt I will get iPad 5.

I have owned iPad 1-4 already. Had mini but returned it.

Sold my iPad 1 and 2. Kept my iPad 3 and 4. Both kids use my iPad 3 and 4 so right now I have no iPad for myself.

Yes I'll be selling my iPad 2 and 4th Gen to BuyBackWorld to offset the cost of the ipad 5. Already locked in my quotes and suggest if you are going to sell your old ipad, lock in quotes now at companies like buybackworld and gazelle because the buyback prices will probably go down when they make the actual announcement!!

I had iPad 3 LTE from work which i had to turn in about two months ago. We got 3 other iPads in the houshold - two for kids (iPad 2 and 3) and wife (iPad 3).
I am waiting to see what the new iPad will look like and what features it will have. If nothing spectacular, i am going to pickup iPad 4 refurb (all others were also refurbs); otherwsie i will go with te latest model.

You guys seem to love iPads lol

Nope, I don't even use my old one. I think I have turned it on maybe 3 times... I like my macbook..

If the new mini doesn't have retina you would be a fool to buy it.

In that case - If the retina screen makes the Mini heavy and cumbersome, you'd be a fool to buy it over the iPad 5.

Everyone has different requirements.

It all depends on whether the Mini will have a Retina Display.

I currently have an iPad 3 32GB Wi-Fi and my mom has a 16GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi. If the Mini doesn't come with retina, I will most likely get a refurb iPad 4 so I don't have to buy another bluetooth keyboard case (zaggkeys plus backlit).

If the 5 truly sheds some weight and gets Touch ID, I will most likely Gazellle the iPad 3 and suck it up to buy a new bluetooth keyboard case as the 5 won't work with existing keyboard cases.

I am buying the iPad 5 with 32 or 64GB

I'm also leaning towards a 32 or 64GB iPad 5 now that we are getting constant rumors that the iPhone 6 will have a screen size between 4.8 and 5 inches, making the mini less attractive for me.

My decision will also depend on how much lighter the iPad 5 will be compared to the iPad 4. I want it to be lighter than the iPad 2. Preferably between .95 to 1.10 lbs.

I'll never buy any Apple tablet. I got iPad 3 stuck with ios 5.1.1 and old app licences - it's ok for now, but newest ios 7 can kill it and I'm not allowed by Apple to update to ios 6 or any ios I wish.
I'm not rich enough to trash one-year old device.

Where is the option for maybe? I might buy one, really depends on how big an upgrade it will be..I want 2 gigs ram and if rumors are false on that then I'll likely not upgrade.

Why didn't you update to iOS 6 before iOS 7 came out? Sounds like poor planning on your part if you weren't planning to go to iOS 7.

In short - I was an idiot.

Maybe because I updated earlier my iPhone 4s to ios 6 and got many many problems: extreme battery drain, touch interface lags. I was afraid to lose features I love most in my iPad: stability, responsivity, long battery life. So I decided to skip ios 6 update. But I never in my wildest dreams supposed that ios 7 will be so poor.

Do you think the new form factor will give ipad 5 the sort of portability the mini has or do you think it won't change much from the 4?

Now that we know the event is most likely to be the 22nd when do the invites go out, Monday?
