Defo purchase for me. On 4th gen at the mo, will get a cellular 5 and pass the 4 to my son. Currently also have 3rd gen, 2nd gen and mini in the household. Will punt the 2 out to a relative when I get the 5.

I've got an iPad 2 at the moment which has been brilliant since Day 1 and seems to handle ios7 here apart from a bit of lag here and there but I'll be picking up the iPad 5! Should be a good upgrade! :D

iPad 5 will be a pass for me. Currently using an iPad 4, and it just doesn't feel like I need to upgrade.

I am typing this on my iPad 1 which is in general still great but has this tiny lag introduced with iOS 5 which annoys me. In addition du to the lack of internal memory I have to many crashes in Safari and so on. Its a little bit a shame because the device is just 3 years old and overall still working fine.

And of course many apps cannot be updated and I assume the new iWork won't work on it which I use on the Mac and iPad with Cloud syncing.

Therefore I most probably get a new iPad5 w. 64 GB in white and black cover.

Same here. The 64GB ipad2 has been a rock star and will go to my kids as an activity center. All the learning and drawing apps make it a legit kids device. Probably going to pick up a 128GB ipad5 to ensure it lasts another 3-4 years.

I've been holding out for the iPad 5 as my first tablet.

I started with Apple on an iPod touch 4th gen, then I got my iPhone 5 and gave the old touch to my mom.

She has been using it a lot and I showed her how to use myfitnesspal and she lost 35 pounds in 3 months. But the old touch will not scan in foods with the barcode scanner on the 4th gen touch.

So I plan on getting her a mini to help her continue.

Assuming they add 802.11ac capability to the 5, as rumored, I'll buy it, but not until they also add ac capability to the Airport Express.

I'm not going to be forced to spend the extra $100 on an Extreme, and the current Express won't handle the ac spec, so at the moment, without an Airport Extreme you may as well be using the iPad4.

I'm going from an iPad 2 32GB WIFI to an iPad 5 128GB LTE/GPS. If the new iPad doesn't have 2GB of ram, then I'll keep waiting. 1GB probably isn't going to cut it for iOS 9 and/or 10.

If the iPad mini gets 2GB of ram, an A7 and a retina screen then I might get that instead. But it's unlikely that all of those will happen compared to the full size. I don't even need an A7X in the iPad mini. The same chip as the iPhone 5S will work just fine, even if it's clocked the same.

Seeing as I JUST bought the iPad 4 today, yeah I think I will. I have 30 days to return it and did ZERO research before buying it. Honestly didn't think a new one would surface until next year sometime. If it hits within the next 30 days, I will of course exchange it...

While I've been quite critical of Apple as of late, I've enjoyed iOS 7 more than I thought I would on my iPad 4. it just needs a little more horsepower to be as smooth as iPad 4 was with iOS 6. Coupled with smaller build and lighter weight, it's a no brainer - I want an iPad 5 now. (And where's my Haswell MBP!!)

Repurpose it. My son uses my old iPad 1 to display pictures related to his job when a client wants a larger view than what is on his iPhone. While it's not retina, no one has complained yet. If all else fails, donate it to a needy child or senior citizen. Either would love to have it I'm sure.

With my hands tied behind my back and my eyes blindfolded: yes.

Going from a 3 to a 5, looking forward to the new weight and form factor.

Nope. I'm all done with tablets for a while.

Since I bought my MBA, I haven't talked my iPad 2 for anything but using it as an instrument for my music. I'd sell it, but I still need it for that. But I'm keeping it just for that.

I was going to upgrade to an iPad 5, but then I realized that I barely want the 2 to begin with and it's still excellent in every way (besides screen, but it's just for music).

Then I thought I'd buy a mini for thoughts and sketches on the go, but I've decided to just carry around a paper notebook (Field Notes/Moleskine) instead.

So, basically, no. Not for me.

Media invites around Noon EST on Tuesday 10/15. Event 10/22 1:00 PM EST. Pre order Friday 10/25 3AM EST. Shipping/available November 1

Yup, I was thinking the same thing. That will probably be correct just based off of other product launches. Hopefully they'll allow iPad pre-orders this time around as well, but I'm not exactly sure since they didn't allow pre-orders for the iPhone 5S.

I recently sold my 4th generation iPad for a very good price. I really like the idea of the iPad 5 (thinner bezel, lighter, etc.) but I can't help but think that if a retina iPad Mini is released I'd get that instead. I have a 27" iMac and my work MacBook Pro at home... I have enough big screens. The idea of a mini to take on the train to work is pretty cool. I know that for some people the idea of a mini is crazy but I don't think I've ever done anything with the 9.7" that needed that space and the size/weight of the current iPad makes it pretty awkward to take out and about easily enough - that's my opinion anyway.

I sold my iPad 2 64gb today in anticipation of buying the new iPad which I hope I will receive before 7th November as I have 14 and 15 hour flights to get through next month! LOL!

While I certainly like the idea of a lighter and thinner iPad, the fact that the 5th iteration will resemble the iPad Mini is a disappointment. I love the form factor of the iPad 4(which I have). I wish Apple would have maintained the same form factor and had made it lighter and thinner.

I won't be upgrading to the iPad5, maybe iPad6? But by then, who knows what alternatives may be available in the market!

Yes I am planning to get me an iPad 5. I am so excited this is gonna to be my first iPad. Does anyone know is IPad 5 will comes with white.

Very happy with my iPad 4, but I'd consider upgrading if Apple brings something interesting to the table besides the ID sensor and some upgraded camera lenses.
