If I can pre-order no. If I can't pre-order I will most likely camp out or ideally pay a friend who needs extra cash to stand in line for a few hours the night before.

Why wouldn't Apple offer pre-order/pick up in store?..... Seems to be the new trend and was very convenient in September.

Assuming you're in the US, which part of the country are you located? Fortunately I'm in the LA area and we have two stores that actually face the street so it makes lining up early easy (plus the weather on March 27 should be nice lol).

I have never lined up at a mall store that far in advance.

A mall store Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We get chased away by mall security anytime before 4am. Its nice because we get to sleep in a bit but its a mad dash at 4am as cars zoom in from all directions, quickly park and people run for the door. Even after that mall security ALWAYS finds a way to screw up the whole process. Like opening some other random mall door first rather then the one 150 people are lined up at.

I'll be show up at the store 10 minutes before opening time. It should be fine. It will go faster than iPhones as there's no activations. I really want to see them in person before settling on a choice, so, no pre-order for me.

If you show up 10 minutes before opening time and expect to purchase one that day ... prepare to be disappointed :)

As long as they offer them I'll be placing a pre-order via Verizon asap. If they don't then the day they become available I'll be ordering it day 1. I've got a trip coming up in April and would be great if I had it in time for the trip.

The only problem with that is I doubt Verizon will offer these on a pre-order. I would guess that if it is available for pre-order, it will be only at the Apple Store.

Well like I said "if" but we shall see next week. But also who knows with so many options being released and talk that the demand isn't as high as other apple releases we'll see what happens.

What makes you think Verizon will have them at all. :eek:Does Verizon sell iMacs or WiFi iPads????

Because there have been cases where iOS devices have not been available for preorder and this may not be any different.

As to the OP's question I certainly won't be camping out. I have never done so for any product including the various iPhones and iPads I have owned over the years and I don't intend on starting now. If they offer preorders and I'm successful in doing so then great. Otherwise I will wait until I'm able to order online or walk in and get one.

I think I'm set on the 42 mm, but I want to try both to be certain. So, no pre-order for me either. Plus I really want to camp out :D

Well using similar devices such as Galaxy Gear S and the previous Galaxy Gear watches yes they do. Using MacBoks and iPad Wifi Models and the watch is like comparing Apples (no pun) and Oranges.

I would venture a guess that the reason the Gear watches were available at Verizon is because Samsung doesn't have stores of their own nationwide to sell their stuff on launch at. :)

True, but I can't see Apple not sending the watch the mobile carriers because they are for all intents and purposes an accessory to the phone.

So, are you saying you were being complimentary? LOL

Yes, you are correct this is a public forum and you are entitled to share your thoughts as anyone else. I also have the right to call out a statement the way I see it. I was referring to words you used - perhaps my mistake was not quoting you directly as opposed to indirectly, but I figured the audience knew the tie-in of my statement. If you took that as a personal attack, I'm so sorry you feel that way.

I enjoy driving by the local store just because the line makes me laugh. It's just so amusing how emotional Apple buyers are. I can't even imagine standing in line for any kind of consumer gadget. Yet obviously these people have nothing more important to do. I'm so happy I don't have that problem. :)

If you had stopped at "I can't even imagine standing in line for any kind of consumer gadget." I would have understood that to be your personal feeling. But you went a step further and continued by saying you enjoy laughing at those of us standing line with "nothing more important to do" with our time. That statement I find condescending and uninformed in the context of the title of this thread, "Will You Camp Out for Apple Watch." I don't think it is much of a stretch to believe that most people who stand in line do so because their schedules allow for it and it's something they enjoy. When iPhone 4 came out, I was on summer break (I'm an adjunct college professor). When iPhone 6 made its debut, I couldn't be out there since I had Friday classes. However, I stood in line on a morning when I when I didn't have to teach until that evening.

But in case you were not aware, just because someone takes something said as condescending does not mean they are insecure or lack self-respect (to use your words), it simply means they found the words condescending or giving the implication of superiority. For instance, let's say you earned your degree at NYU instead of Columbia (to use two fine NYC institutions). If the Columbia grad makes a derisive comment about NYU graduates (because Columbia is Ivy League), the NYU grad might take some offense yet not be insecure, they would be simply be pointing out the error that the Columbia graduate thinks he or she is superior.

My plan is probably going to be to just go to the store on day of release and if it's sold out it's sold out. I'm not going to pre-order something which I'll be wearing without trying it on first, so unless Apple has Watch models in-store for people to try on, prior to release, I'll not pre-order. I'll probably be going for a 38mm silver sport, but will check the space grey too. I currently have a stainless steel Hugo Boss watch and do like stainless steel as a material, but unless Apple announce a comprehensive upgrade plan, the amount they're probably going to charge for the SS model, in the UK, is too much for a V1 product in my opinion

I won't line up either. I think this is a product I'll need some hands-on time with before I buy given how many different combinations there are (two sizes, multiple bands, two colors, two materials - not counting the gold ones). And I would not want to spend hours in line only to find out they don't have the one SKU out of 22 (or more) that I want.

Depending on what happens over the next few weeks, I might pre-order one as long as it's returnable.

So if you were to guess on how big the lines will be, would you guys say they will be as big as the iPhone 2g lines? iPad 1 lines? How big would you say?

Gee, that's a tough one. I remember the first iPhone lines. Very different launch since it took place in the afternoon. I never saw the iPad lines. However I would think the watch lines will be closer to the original iPad launch.

Here is an article with some good info on the OG iPad launch, if you wanted so read it:

They were actually fairly big, with people camping out days in advance apparently. I hope the lines for the :apple: Watch will be like that! :)

Since I don't have an Apple Store within reasonable distance to me, I've recently been in contact with my local Best Buy (they have just about everything else Apple there), and they confirmed my hopes that Apple Watch will be sold there. They said that its been more or less confirmed that they'll be receiving it, wether it's on launch day or not is my remaining question. We (The Apple Specialized Workers and I) both agreed that watching the Keynote should answer that question (like I wasn't already planning a whole day off for it :p) and call back a day or two after. If the answer is yes to launch day sales, I'll be camping out (probably arriving around 4am), if not, I'll pray that there are pre-orders and go about it that way.

I do like the party atmosphere. I just hope the lines aren't so out of control that we have an iPhone 6 situation. The Brea, CA store had over 3,000 people in line by 7:45am. It was unreal.

If the line extends 1.5-2 city blocks that would be exciting.

For sure. If the lines were to stretch around a block or two, that would be exciting. Like you said, I really like the party atmosphere as well. It really builds the hype and it is a lot of fun to meet people around you in line who are there for the same reason you are :)

I'm assuming I missed the sarcasm sign on this one... If not, you're misguided here. The setup time will be awful. Just deciding on case and band options will take longer than it takes to activate an iPhone. Then, almost certainly most of the line will get a "how it works" tutorial from the sales team. It's going to be ugly.
