It would make a lot of sense for Apple to announce both 4.7" and 5.5" phones if they both exist, even if the 5.5" model isn't released for a month or 2. The reason is, the demand for ANY larger iPhone will be massive... so much so that they will run into difficulties keeping up with demand.

Announcing a 5.5" model planned for release 60 days later may make some of the potential buyers of the iPhone 6 wait and not jump on the 4.7" model alleviating some of the huge demand.

Apple shouldn't worry about buyers holding off. They always seem to have the issue of not being able to produce enough phones for the first few months. The 2 models with staggered launch dates would smooth the demand out a bit.

While some folks who are certain to only want the 4.7" may jump at it initially. But I suspect a lot of folks will wait for the 5.5" to show up later to see what it's all about. And with the 5.5" coming closer to the Christmas commercial season; it may just transfer the crunch from the time of release of the 4.7" to when the 5.5" is released.

In the folly of youth days, I once opted for a Sony P1 "smartphone". It had a built in stylus, that required use for most of its input actions. Long story short - it was really annoying on several levels, NOT being able to use the phone with one hand.

Having to hold it in one hand, and use the other with the stylus. Even for simple tasks - had me always consider 1-hand usability ever since...

I too will skip the next iteration, with my upgrade only falling due for whatever S model comes next - this will at least afford me the time to make an informed choice.

A bigger screen might be fantastic on several levels, but personally - I'm certainly going to take a 'wait and see' approach.

I won't get the bigger phones.

If forced, I'll move to another brand. I'm not getting any larger, not interested in an oversized phone or a man purse.

You're gonna have a tough time finding ANY 4" smartphones... And the ones that do exist are super cheapo's with processors that are years old. Even the Galaxy "mini" phones are still 4.3" and have processors that are 1-2 years old. You'll have to wait a few years before you are able to find any 4" phone with specs equal to the current 5s. So good luck with that.

I still don't believe Apple is releasing the 5.5 inch iPhone yet. If they did, it wouldn't be my choice anyway. The 4.7 inch is an immediate buy for me. Without experiencing it yet, I think it's going to be the perfect compliment to my iPad.

I can upgrade to a 5s right now for almost free but I don't want it, hardly any better than my 5. So long as Apple releases a 4.7" model I will go with another iPhone, otherwise I am going back to android.

OP, I'll get the 4.7" iPhone on launch day! I have no desire for a 5.5" phone (after owning a Nexus 5, Galaxy S5, and other phones with screens 5"+). If, for some reason, the 5.5" iPhone calls to me if released later, I would just sell the 4.7" and buy the 5.5"... however, all this discussion is predicated on Apple actually releasing a larger phone, which we don't know if they will do yet (speculation, but wishful for me ;) ) :apple:

I'm getting A 5.5" (or larger) phone. If Apple won't make one, well, then I'll have to go elsewhere for it, won't I?

If the larger device has a higher resolution or longer battery life, then I would consider it. Personally, I don't believe Apple will release 2 devices. I think there will be 1 4.7" screen device. I wish it were thicker than the current iPhone w/ a battery that would last for days... something tells me I won't be getting rid of my Anker external battery when this new iPhone is released.

I don't think I want my iPhone to be any bigger than the iPhone 6 specs for the 4.7 inch.

I personally think phones like the Galaxy and note are kind of obnoxious.

If Apple are ever to release a gigantic phone, I think they will take us there in stages. I can't see them offering two different sizes of the same phone.

If the rumors are anything to go by, the iBezel 6 is likely to be physically bigger than the Galaxy S-series, despite the smaller screen.

Nah. 4.7 is on the high end of what I want. 4.3 is great but once we get up to high 4's I personally find it hard to use the phone comfortable with one hand. I've used android phones of various sizes for months on end to determine this.

It's a very personal choice though obviously.

My use has been just the opposite. I am using the iPad more than my phone. Since I have an unlimited data sim card I can power my iPad with it and make/receive calls anywhere. No longer tied to WIFI signals. So with a Google number and a MagicJack app number, I find I use my cell phone less and less….

Why can't they just make it 5.0 and be done with it. :):):)

IMO, the 4.7" Moto X is the perfect size for me, and the 5" screen size of the Nexus 5 was border-line too big for me and my preferences... those 0.3" on the screen size matters! It also matters what they do with the bezel as well.

Unless, of course, I just keep my 5S.

Will be a combination of features and release date for me.

If the 5.5 is "better" then for sure going in that direction. If they are the same, announced on the same day but the 5.5 gets a later release I think I would probably wait.

If they only announce the 4.7 I'll probably pick that one up.

i will buy the iphone 6 IF: still be a fashion unisex design, not bigger than 138x67x7, not heavier than 120g, A8 with even better power efficient, a minimum of 1800 battery, sapphire glass
