Just a quick poll to see how many people are considering buying the new iPhone ''Edition'' at a minimum price level of $999? Surely it will be an amazing phone but I don't feel I can justify spending 1k(!) on a phone, twice as much as the high end models of Huawei and Oneplus.

Currently hold a iPhone 6S 64GB which is still quite good, but I do notice that battery life has begun to deteriorate. As soon as it become too impactful, I will consider switching to an Android phone, unfortunately at the cost of sacrificing iOS.

I plan on getting it because it will be a big upgrade, if it had been the 7s with a small upgrade then no but I think the extra cash will be worth it.

I plan to pick up a 128GB but recent rumours have said it will be 64GB, 256GB and 512GB in that case I'll pre-order a 256GB. Also I will probably upgrade to the Apple Watch series 3 as I have the 0 series at the moment depending on wht features they announce and if it has LTE here in the U.K.

iPhone Edition 256 GB Black (unless the other colors have a black frame on the front, then I'll reconsider color choices) + Apple Watch aluminium silver Series 3 non-LTE (depending on what performance changes the S3 brings).

Won't be any 128GB model, they will go with a lower model 64gb that everyone will be scared to buy, because it's such a great device with so little storage. So people will go for the 256gb, which is huge.

Sad there isn't any 128GB though.

Haha, couldn't have said it any better

Yes the 256gb model will be the big seller. The majority of people will either be on 128gb or 256 gb already or those with less than 128gb may struggle for another year so 256gb at $1079 or $1179 or whatever will be the most popular

If it comes in 64 that will be the biggest seller due to the fact the lowest storage sells the most.

It's funny because I currently use a 64GB, and it's well enough :D:D

Apple is playing a psychological game here.

Wish 64 was near enough (and this is with Icleaner cleaning up ~15gb over time)

64GB is becoming the new 16GB for some people in that it isn't enough storage, I think with 4K footage and higher resolution photos people are burning through the 64GB version, also there's Apple Music and some people (such as myself) like to download albums to the iPhone and keep them local for journeys on planes, trains and so on. If Apple don't do a 128GB with the 8 (or whatever it's called) I will get the 256GB just to be on the safe side.

Tough to respond for me.

First and foremost it depends on what I’m getting. Am I getting everything rumored? Does it have Touch ID? Facial recognition dead on?

I’m also interested what various carriers do with pricing. Verizon’s base unlimited plan looks pretty attractive for our usage and we may end up migrating over from T-Mobile; their comparable plan is only about $15 a month cheap for four lines (bad ones on taxes and fees) and my wife is already teetering between getting a second line for work or just moving her line over since T-Mobile is spotty for there.

I don’t think you’re strictly wrong, but estimates show 3-4 hours of 4K footage on current compression rates for a 64gb device.

Obviously you and everyone else are free to do what they want, but the way I see it, the videos eventually have to go somewhere. Unless I’m shooting a feature film, it’s very easy to plug the phone into my computer once in a while and download all of the video content. Hell, there are even cloud options for this now.

The bottom line is I feel like the base model will always be argued as not enough by someone somewhere. I’m betting darn near everyone could make 64gb work. But plenty of people don’t want to ever delete anything lol. My mom has filled her 128gb 6s twice now. The only way it gets deleted is when I come clean it for her.

15k photos... dang lol. That’s exactly what my mom does despite me setting up Flickr to back everything up for her. I need to come in and clear photos out.

These phones are getting way too expensive. My 7+ I bought last September was around $800+ and even that was pretty damn high. Only reason I even upgraded from my 6+ was because of that trade-in deal VZW offered. When I see phones like the 1+5 for half the price with similar specs it makes me wonder if these near $1000 phones are even worth it anymore. This new iPhone will cost more than I paid for my MBA two years ago.

That being said, hell no. The 8 looks nice but my 7+ still flies and have no problems with it. I also prefer the size of the 7+ for my big hands. If Apple releases an iPhone in 2018 the size of the 7+ with a larger screen like on the 8 and I'm offered another decent trade-in deal for my phone, I may consider that but I'm still content with my phone now and don't see that changing for at least another year, maybe two.

I have had every single iteration of iPhone since release day AND I've had every single one on launch day but I think I'm going to sit this one out. I agree, these prices are simply absurd and my 7+ is working great. Apple products have never been cheap but I almost find the $999 STARTING price to be offensive. It's a phone, not a MacBook.

I may change my mind in a couple weeks but for now I'm out.

There will be a 7s and 7s Plus announced alongside the 8 (or whatever they decide to call it) from the leaks and rumours they will be announcing 3 different versions.

A $999/£999 iPhone is the tipping point for me. 7S for now, but it seems less fun than when we could get the entry level iPhone 4 for £499.

Hmm, wonder if Apple would just go straight to 128GB and 512GB (+$200-300) for this model?

Offering 64GB for a premium $1K model seems too low. When they released the iPad Pro, base capacities on those were 32GB versus 16GB on the Air 2.

I used to do this for my mom (manually clear photos and videos). She only had a 32GB iPhone 5s (she's since upgraded to a 64GB SE). Now though, iCloud Photo Library with Optimize iPhone Storage is working very well for her. I did limit her video quality to 1080p 30fps. We're okay with watching DVDs on a 50" TV (plenty of content w/o Blu-ray) so 1080p is pretty good enough for us.

I’d goure serious about deleting them and not hoarding them (not judging I just know some people feel like they can’t delete anything), just download Flickr and let it back up to the cloud in the background while you’re sleeping. Then just wipe all of them from your phone in one shot. I plug into my Mac, select them all in image capture, and delete. Takes a matter of seconds to delete
