Life ain't fair, but patience is a virtue...
i lol'd. Life aint fair bud.
Same here, and theres nothing wrong with that at all considering the circumstances. Anyone saying its "unethical" needs to get off their high horse and ****, its a goddamn cell phone.
wouldn't apple know this is going to happen? and not want to deal with taking back all those 30 day old and used i phones to exchange them for white? so my thinking is they will not release the white ones until after your exchange period is over just to screw the people who bought the black now with the idea of exchanging it for white later
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)
Yeah, agreed. Returning for color choice is tacky. It's a total white trash move. The cocktail dress analogy is about perfect.
If I upgrade from my 3GS, I will wait until white is available, and I won't sell the 3GS until it's available because I *have* to have a mobile phone for work. I feel bad about these people who sold their phones before the launch only to find their color choice MIA though. I can understand why that set would feel justified about getting black temporarily. Still, I hope apple waits until outside of 30 days to come out with white because of these color switchers. People need to be taught a lesson about counting their chickens before they're hatched.
I'm waiting for a white phone.
I liken this whole "buy black, return for white" business to buying an expensive cocktail dress and wearing it with the tags on, so you can return it later.
It's tacky.
If you buy black, use it awhile, then sell it and buy white (or pass it along to a family member who wants it), more power to you.
But to buy it KNOWING you have no intention of keeping it JUST to have iPhone 4 on launch day has to be one of the most MEMEMEMEME-centric things I've read here. Ever. And that's saying something, right there.
You'd think people would at least have the good manners to put a reasonable spin on it.
Example: "I really wanted the white, but I guess the black looks pretty cool. I'd like to have mine on launch day, and I don't want to wait. I'm going with black. If I really don't like the black, I might return it for a white one if they're out before the 30-day return time is up."
There. I've just given you all a graceful way to say you're planning to return your phone.
I didn't want a black, so I'm not in the same boat as all the people here who tried to preorder, but couldn't get through because quite a few of you ordered black when you have NO intention of actually keeping it. I have no dog in this race.
I just think it's fairly insensitive to gloat over your plans, that's all I'm saying.
*sigh*
Well Softbank (Yodobashi Camera) just cancelled my order for a black one, so I'll just wait for white now.
Newbie...
You missed my point. It's not fair to those of us that are waiting just to buy the white model if everyone who bought a black one went and returned it, and cried and said "I bought a black one, now I want a white one." Once you buy your phone you are bound by your contract, you would have to pay $699 to get another phone. Sorry.
The people that are getting their panties in a wad over it are probably just jealous that they hadn't thought of it and now it's too late for them to get a black one, lol.
As someone who is sitting in the backorder que and actually wants a black one, for you to occupy 4 phones like that with no intention on keeping them is an incredibly selfish move.
How is this selfish?
It's just like returning a 3GS after finding out the i4 is coming out
the return policy is there.
