Upgrade an iPhone for one generation jump is a waste of money. You can't really appreciate the difference.

Likely it has the same design, or if it's different (like 4S to 5) it wouldn't show you that huge of speed jump.
I have an iPad Air and iPhone 4S and you know what? In term of UI interfaces I can't really notice too much difference. Yep heavy apps load faster and runs smoother on my Air. But to get most things done, the difference is negligible.

Me? I'd save the money and upgrade every 3 or 4 years. I stood by my 4S until the 6 comes with bigger display and significantly speedier processor and more exciting features. Now that's an upgrade!

yes, i'm planning on buying every iphone... i need to buy a 5c when it goes down.

For me, the iPhone 6 needs to have planar scanning, 4D normalization, augmented near-field, and quasi-optic stabilization. Otherwise, I'm definitely switching to Samsung.

I agree. I went from a 3gs to a 5s. That was a worthwhile upgrade. Upgrading every year is just for the sake of knowing you have the newest model.

Except that the ratio doesn't say that at all. It simply compares screen to bezel size. It's obvious that the phone with the smaller screen size would have the worst ratio.

I'm glad you brought up the large bezel on the iPad and proving my point. The iPad has a better screen to bezel ratio than practically any smartphone...and that's what makes the ratio useless.

I actually doubt it does when comparing tablets. Compared to a Xoom I own for work it certainly doesn't, it's annoying to hold. And compared to a Nexus 10 I had I'm not too sure, the speakers on the front of the Nexus took up a slight amount of space.

But that doesn't matter because like I mentioned it makes it easier to hold.

I do completely understand what you are saying about the ratio being skewed by screen size. However there are plenty of phones that show a much smaller bezel is possible. Razr M (sure not the best phone but just for an example), I heard the Moto X has a small bezel I haven't really compared though.

Will you upgrade from iPhone 5S to 6 if it has the following specs:
- 4.3"+ Screen
- 2GB RAM [We know apple won't go up to 3GB so I'm not even going to dream a little]
- LTE-A
- 16GB - 128GB Storage
- 8MP Camera with better optics than 5S
- Touch-ID Sensor [Same if not improved vs 5S]
- Same Design

I have a 5s and would only upgrade if BOTH the screen width & battery life were both improved.

RAM increase and improved camera would also be nice additions.

The other things you listed above (LTE-A and 128GB option) I couldn't care less about.

Truthfully though I might end up going with the Moto X for $350 or the Moto X 2 since iOS is starting to turn me off with Apples restrictions.

The non-S iPhones are notorious for always at least some sort of hardware flaw. I would personally stick with the S-iterations.

I like iPhone's because they are small, powerful and can slip into my pocket without me even knowing it's there.

However, it's clear that the current screen size is a little too small so I would be happy to buy an iPhone 6 that had a screen size up to around 4.5". If they go to 5" or more then count me out.

However, I think Apple will need to offer people a choice so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an expanded range of models this year. If they offer a range of sizes then everyone wins.

Every model has hardware flaws if you believe all the stories. All I have to go on is that I've had every launch day phone apple have released, and never once (touch wood) had any problems with any of the phones... That's including all regular releases, and subsequent "s" phones.

As tempting as it would be, especially given a *slightly* larger screen, I'd likely pass. I can't justify upgrading a £630 device every 12 months, and I'm very pleased with my 5S right now.

Perhaps I'll upgrade my iPad 4 to a 2nd gen iPad Air, or my ageing, clunky Dell laptop for a Macbook though...

Yes - hurry

I have missed the last 2 updates and I am ready to move up. My wife just upgraded to a new samsung 4 for $49 at Costco (V store). A little hard to get used to but very fast and it's almost like having a handheld desktop. May not wait to spend 5 times more for a totally new unproven iPhone which will have issues for at least the first months out. But if I could get it this month I would. Can't wait 6 months.

If we just look at current lineup, we know that the 5S internals will be transferred down to 6C for next year, hence I did not mention the 5C despite it being released at the same time.

Oh, I wasn't sure, thank you! :)

No, I paid for 5s outright so Ill be stuck with it for awhile or till I feel the need to get the moneies worth out of the phone.

if the screen is bigger (and i mean wider, not just taller) I will be first in line to get one. After using a note 3 and N5, there is no way or reason that apple should not come out with a bigger screened iPhone. Everyone on here just complains but we ALLLL know the people who complain the most will also be the first in line when the bigger screen iphone will launch.

I'm very eager to dump my tiny iPhone 5S for a new model, but only if it has a display that's at least 4.8" or larger. If Apple has learned from the rather annoying iOS 7 and delivers a new version that has been properly debugged, then I'm a buyer. I know that's a tall order to expect, but Apples capable if they apply themselves.

I'm on an iphone 5, but no I won't upgrade.

I think big screen smart phones are stupid. I want a phone that fits comfortably in my pocket. Not a phablet that bulges my pocket out and makes it so I can't bend my leg without feeling like I'll break the device. If I wanted a big screen smart phone, I'd buy an ipad mini retina.

This thank you very much.

Exaggerate much?

Most of us are talking a similar sized phone with a larger screen on it.

But if you wanted a larger screen phone you'd skip 4-5" range and get a tablet with no cellular voice. That makes sense. Lol

You think big screen phones are stupid, because they are big and won't fit in your pants. But if you wanted a big screen phone you'd want it to be at least four times bigger than your current phone and not be able to make phone calls with it.

Sure, that makes sense.

Not.

I think that you are, if not stupid, at least a tad silly...

Yeah maybe I exaggerated a little bit, but try putting a 4.5 or 5 inch device in your pocket. For me, I'm a rather small guy and it doesn't really work out too well.

Silly - maybe. I'm not stupid - so get over yourself.
