According to my notes, my favourite La Chouffe is, indeed, the Blonde, which I seem to not have had since 2024. My favourite pub had a N’Ice Chouffe stocked in their fridge for a few months, and I always had one or two of those at home, in case of an emergency (no beer). I should see what the Craft Beer Shop of Hannover has in stock. They always have a dedicated shelf for La Chouffe and Kriek.

I had a cannette of La Chouffe blond this past weekend. Certainly a favourite of mine.

Enjoyed a glass or two of Chablis (an excellent white wine, a classic I am exceedingly partial to, from Burgundy, in France, and made from 100% Chardonnay) last night.

Enjoyed - greatly enjoyed - a Weihenstephaner lager in an excellent Moroccan restaurant (the beer was bought and brought up from the pub downstairs as the Moroccan restaurant does not sell alcohol) that an academic friend had suggested for for a lovely lunch.

I imbibed a further beer or two (as it happened, Moretti - there was nothing better available) while I watched the second half of the Champions League Final (Arsenal v PSG), and then watched the thirty minutes of extra time, followed by (the inevitable) penalties.

Enjoying a French Red (Cuvée with Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc) from Château Cazebonne in my recently found new favourite wine place. It has a distinct smell and taste as if it was barrel-aged, but it’s all from the grape. Absolutely delicious.

That’s what the excellent Cask in London (Pimlico) does. I’ll see where I’ll land here, hopefully something quite as nice.
Well, I remember such beer menus in some Belgian pubs - a pub in Bruges (in a medieval side street) had the most amazing (and comprehensive) beer menu I have ever seen.

They also had the most incredible and utterly stunning bread (and food in general) - and yes, upon further questioning, revealed that beer had indeed been involved in the baking process.

Local beer in Brussels is interestingly weird. The Wolf food court has quite amazing Pilsner.

We’re ending our evening in a fancy cocktail bar. I started with a cocktail with Calvados and goat cheese, we‘re ending with a “please let me reach the hotel” … thing.

Did someone tried this whine? My mother who passed away a year liked it so much.
