For anyone still having this issue, here's what I did to FIX it permanently for me.

In System Prefs, go to Network. In the sidebar of available network devices, highlight and REMOVE "Bluetooth".

Reboot and you're good to go. There's something with Bluetooth available as a network device that causes the dropout of devices (mice, headsets, keyboards).

I did this AGES ago and haven't had a problem since.

Interesting. I'll try this and see. Thanks, RumMunkey.

EDIT: Well, that didn't work. I still lose BT for both KB and MM every couple of hours. I have found that toggling "Discoverable" under the BT main menu icon seems to wake things up.

Re:

Hi mattcooper,

Ok.. friend. I have the same problem. I have tried a lot to solve the problem but I couldn't get the appropriate results. I have also write about it in my post on the Internet but still I haven't the solution of this problem. Whenever you find it, please tell me first. :)

I am still having this issue on 09 alum imac with m mouse and bt apple pro keyboard (the old all white one) on snow leopard! I was hoping the new OS update would fix this, but it didn't for me. Anyone else still having issues or found a fix?

Same problem, 2008 iMac 8,1, BT MM and keyboard loses connection, especially after waking up computer from sleep - sometimes, I must connect wired mouse and click 'connect' button in bluetooth preferences and that helps...

Lost wireless keyboard (bluetooth)

Losing my keyboard every few weeks was driving me crazy. Could re-pair it up.
I found that it had been paired with my other Macbook 25 feet away. As soon as I deleted it from that machine - it paired automatically to mine. Might not be everyone's issue - but it corrected mine. Good luck!

I bought my imac about 6 weeks ago, now the wireless keyboard and mouse are dropping signal every few minutes any suggestions.

The suggestions here are the best. Have you tried any of them yet? You don't say.

You also don't mention, so I'm not sure if you've paired your keyboard and mouse with any other Mac, iPhone or iPad devices? If you have make sure to have only one paired, or one device on at a time.

The biggest thing that worked for me, as already suggested - remove bluetooth within system preferences as one of your network connection options. That seemed to have done the trick for me 1 1/2 years ago with my 27" iMac.

cheers.

I have tried all that has been suggested with no luck, the keyboard is only dropping occasionally the mouse is every few seconds, I am having to use my bamboo to use between the dropouts. Its getting very annoying now. I don't want to use my wireless logitec keyboard and mouse but if I don't cure the problem then I will have to. The mouse isn't recognized at boot stage to log in I have to use my bamboo as the mouse.
